Hear from some locals as we explore the area and learn about what Kirkland, WA has to offer in this edition of City Skinny! Video by Broken Bench Productions www.brokenbenchproductions.com www.brokenbenchproductions.com
I've lived in Seattle and Everett for 20+ years but I've been to Kirkland a few times. I LOVE Kirkland. I took two photos of the lake (Lake Washington) from the Kirkland shore in 2020 which I enlarged and put on canvas and are now hanging in my San Antonio, TX home. I left my soul in the Pacific NW. There is no place like Seattle, Bellevue, Mukilteo, Edmonds and Kirkland. If you're young, move there! You will not regret it.
I love living in Kirkland, WA. real nice living here! Great people! Great place! I love lake Washington and the outdoors! Great for nature nuts like me! If you love the outdoors and nature you will love living here! Very clean and lots to do! It's the perfect place to live your life! Come visit for a day or stay for a lifetime!
I live here in the downtown area. We bought our house in 2014 and now it's double the value. To own a 3 bedroom home near downtown, you need $1.5 million at least. It's a nice cozy beach town. Kirkland people are nice. The rude ones are from the neighboring areas coming here to enjoy the beach and scenery in the weekends. We hate it too.
Kirkland certainly hasn't been like this in the past year or so. There are way too many rude and miserable people that really bring this place down from what it used to be.
I've lived in Kirkland since the early 90's and this NOT how it is at all. First of all the downtown region is not for Children BUT for young adults; the Chevron that was recently torn down because of sales of COCAINE. Lake Washington High School is okay, but the best in public schooling the area is Inglemoor High School. 'The Twelve and Central' is always empty because the Area is not for people to pretend to be rich and bousie but to party and get drunk. ---------In 'RECENT YEARS 'NEW people moving here have a "TV" perception of what this place is really like. Now we have people WHO literally do nothing but Dress up and walk around with commercial personalities. Traffic is horrid, the new people are rude, ignorant, prejudice, and stupid. They have DESTROYED the True culture of this area, DIVIDED us up as a community, made the lives of people who work and live here miserable. I"M SICK AND TIRED of these Fake rich people pretending this is a European town.
You cannot compare anything with what it used to be like in the 90's!! I lived on Lake Union in Seattle for 5 years in the late 80's and so much has changed but it's still beautiful, Lake Union is still there with the beautiful sale boats, nice restaurants, etc. Seattle itself has too many homeless, too many tent cities with garbage spilling down the hills under the freeways...no one feels safe walking in downtown Seattle anymore. When I lived there back in the 80's and 90's, I could walk downtown without fear. Not so now. Seattle still has much to offer and, if I had the money, would choose to live there but you just have to be careful and smart about when you walk around and where you go. I just left the Seattle area and am in San Antonio, TX now. No where is perfect. No where is safe anymore. But I think you are really soured on people in general. Your rant indicates an unhappy soul that probably has little to do with the city of Kirkland. I was there in 2020 and 2021 and LOVED it.
Kirkland is a great place to live if you bought your house in ‘85 like this dude. For a young family owning a home here won’t be possible for you. The people act like they are rich and all the nice people have been replaced by granola assholes.
