The way my trainer told me is to have a little bit faster trot, not really fast, but use your leg and trot a bit faster then the horses regularly trot speed, you will get there
Thank you for another wonderful video! My riding instructor was getting very upset with me for not being able to keep my seat but she wasn't telling me how to fix it. My own horse has a very smooth slow trot but most of the horses at riding lessons don't, and since I'm not used to the bouncy fast trot i bounce all over the place and kinda freak out. which causes me to hold my breath and stiffen up. I am definitely going to practice these tips on my own horse and hopefully next Monday at lessons I'll be able to keep my seat much better! ~Maizey
I agree with your take on allowing your horse to say no, I think that they shouldn’t just be able to walk away when they don’t like something, I think that they should be taught to work through it instead, one common result of this that I see is the avoidance of fly spray, this issue is easily fixed if you put in the work and dedication, when I got my ottb he would nearly rip the lead out of my hand to get away from the fly spray, I have since been working with him and forcing him to stand when I spray him, he is allowed to wiggle around and toss his head all he wants because I won’t punish him for expressing that he doesn’t like something but he isn’t allowed to walk away, he has since learned that if he stands it will be over quicker and he gets a treat afterwards, he is now able to be handled and have fly spray put on him by all of the staff at the barn
He looks SO MUCH like the foal my stud had before I purchased him! Where did you get him? Right before I got my stud, he was gelded, and the previous owner had his foal on the property. He looks just like him 😢

10:25 well they are smart enough to realize if the hyper intelligent primate on top of them is nervous then there is probably something to be worried about, horses are social which requires intelligence and communication skills. Horses are so cool.
I'm much older than u so have had to put a few beloved animals down over the years. What finally helped me greatly was to recognize that I, as their human, am morally responsible for their welfare. It follows, then, that I cannot put my emotions ahead of my animals' suffering. The first time, I blew it and let my cat live (and suffer) for 3 days longer than I should have. As I look back on it now--some 40 years later--she was conveying for days that she wanted to die.

Okay this is so relatable. My mare always runs like a fire, my horses have arabian blood, wich explains their tail rising habit, she is so energetic I can't explain. My gelding on the other hand is lazy as hell, he doesn't want to gallop and when he does he throws us. My mare is calm sweetheart that loves ear and head scratches and loves treats, my gelding uhhh he is stubborn grumpy dude who only wants treats, but he is so dedicated to her, he never left her when carriages pass trough he only stays beside her and when she gave birth to Lil colt, he became protective as her, even standing between her and new stallion we got for her, when she is tired and wants to be alone, Lil one goes to him, walking with him and even playing with him sometimes, but he is grumpy a bit so he finds comfort with donkey we have and plays With him. He is truly a father of the year, a blessing ❤ 1:42 ps This is opposite tough in my case, he knows to get really agressive when it comes to food, so my mare, donkey and colt keep distance before their turn 😂
(IGNORE MY SPELLING PLEASE) I teach negitive reinforsment and positive, in my opinion they are a great way to train I use negitive for example when I'm leading a horse into a float ect and positive is kind of for fun but I havent done this yet but I will train my horses to load into a float librety style because negitive can hurt the horse so positive is something I enjoy teaching my horse and my horses love it too! Negitive is something essential for a horse to know though they need to learn that because if I sold my horse they may not teach positive so its good for them to know both, negitive because its really something they need to know, positive, they enjoy it I enjoy it so I love it. Both should be taught.
I love your channel. Since you love horses and are a Christian, I wondered if you had heard of Riding High Ministries…? If not, you should definitely check it out on RU-vid…so so good.
something i actually have noticed alot is that riders grab their horses reins when mounting it normally gives ur horse alot of mixed signals and confusion and they began walking when ur only half mounted i love the fact that ur horse did not goes to show how well hes trained
Omg I’m getting a horse soon and I’m so exited!! I’m 11 years old and me and my mum will share a horsey and my sister (21) has a horse (May,16) and we are neighbours with a horse stable which belongs to our landlords who are also our neighbours. And I remember when it was wash day for May it was so cute, because she is jet black you can’t see the dirt very well but she had it all over her face and her chestnut was huge!!! It was so satisfying to peel it off! Also, May is 16hh and my sister let me walk around on her, it was so cool omg!! But me and my mummy are saving up to get him (I’m saying him because we want to get a gelding) and we are doing a garage sale on the 26 so hopefully that goes well and my sister is selling her trike which will go for around £1,000 but yeah, thought I’d tell you! :))
