Just to prove your point that horses are into-pressure is to have two horse tied in a tie stall and they have their hips touching each other and you want to walk in between them. The best way to get them to move apart it to say hi first them push on their hips that are away from each other and they will move toward the pressure which is away from each other and they separate and you walk between them!!!

Hey A Davis, spinal dynamics govern limb dynamics. As such, the how the feet move school of thought is predicted and controlled by the horses spinal posture.. A really good and clear description of this school of thought can be obtained by studying Dr. Deb Bennets work of the last 50 years.. As for overtracking in a dressage horse. It is called an extended trot - and no you are wrong about extension being a product of collection.. Collection with an arched back or spine yields balanced movement at first with EQUAL weight on each of the horses 4 feet. At this stage collection is called self carriage. No charge for educating you. best Bruce Peek

Hey Bruce. I read all four of your comments. One was positive and the other three were snarky. I do truly love constructive feedback but nothing you had to say was constructive. It was mean hearted. I love talking with people that know more than me, and they are many, and I love to read peoples opinions. When one criticizes another in a way that is not constructive it does not make one seem better or smarter, it only shows the reader how small that persons cock is. In the future I would love to read what you have to say about horses and how to ride them. For now I will challenge you to first ride as many as I have and second get a camera ($4000) and build the skill set to stand in front of it and talk about what you know how to do. Once you have that we will talk. I will even fly over to the UK and speak with you over tea about it.

No , walking with a counterbend is not an advanced dressage maneuver. It is a moving - proper, turn on the haunch,- actually a pirouette- from the French, as in French classical dressage. Bruce Peek
@brucepeek3923
@brucepeek3923 12 дней назад
The bridge of the nose is key- because when perfected it causes the horse to flex sideways at the poll. This compresses one side of the horse and stretches the other side. This also in turn, helps to promote true basculed collection with the horses back lifted.. This is good. best Bruce Peek
@brucepeek3923
@brucepeek3923 12 дней назад
Why do you turn the horse into flexion? meaning, turn her toward her hollow side.. A true turn on the haunch is always away from the side that the horse is laterally flexed toward. The true turn on the haunch is also called a pirouette. Practice it. Bruce Peek
@brucepeek3923
@brucepeek3923 12 дней назад
Well if the horse is not submitting to the bit why in gods name did you not teach him to give to the bit? You teach him to give to the bit by standing next to him and whilst holding the bit rein- you put pressure on it and release the pressure when he moves his head and muzzle in the direction you are asking him to. These instructions are based on Francois Bauchers flexions first taught in the 1830's- popularized in mass culture before the American Civil war - used by both Union and Confederate cavalry , and became the basis for american cavalry training up until 1956 educate yourself dude Bruce Peek.

What is a true honest to god bridle horse?
@HorsemanshipAsAnArt
@HorsemanshipAsAnArt 14 дней назад
And that is the age old question. To me its a finished horse and that can be in any discipline. Some say a horse is never finished they can always get better learn more but that isn't what I mean by finish, not done. A finished horse has the finish put on, the shine, the buff. If a horse is finished in the bridle its a bridle horse, if a horse is finished in a double bridle its a Gran prix horse.

I hope this is not a dumb question. When you use a spade bit on a bridle horse, how do you know what length of spade to use? Is it determined by the horse’s mouth size or by the stage of the training? Thanks!
@HorsemanshipAsAnArt
@HorsemanshipAsAnArt 15 дней назад
Is has a lot to do with the conformation of the mouth. Modern horses tend to have wider and shallower mouths than horses from 100 years ago so many of the old bits dont fit very well. I have some videos about mouth conformation but it wouldn't hurt for me to do more. Some people start with a baby spade and work there way up but that doesn't make sense to me, at 6 the mouth is what it is.

I have a herd of 3 in the order of mare, gelding, mare. I am trying to introduce a new gelding and the old gelding but both super aggressive. The new gelding has cornered the two mares and been very aggressive with backing and kicking so I separated them. And, the old gelding is super aggressive with the new gelding biting and kicking. So, I kept the new gelding separated for a week and am not sure now how to introduce them now without a fence. Your video of introduction seems calm and gentle, but that will not be the case for my new herd. As a note, I actually had rehomed the old gelding because he was mean to all geldings and only likes mares. Now the new gelding doesn't seem much better. Please help with any additional tips?
@HorsemanshipAsAnArt
@HorsemanshipAsAnArt 17 дней назад
Lots of gelding are like that, most are pretty stag cut. Can you stall them next to each other or introduce them across the fence? You may try putting the new gelding with the mares and the old gelding in a stall a few days or even one mare at a time or one with one. If you have enough room then the biting and kicking is no big deal so long as you turn your head and walk off.
@peK6SjwC
@peK6SjwC 16 дней назад
@@HorsemanshipAsAnArt yes, they've been stalled across from each other for one week, and every chance the old gelding gets he runs into the fence and threatens. So, I had done what you suggested. I put one mare in at a time with the new pony (!) gelding and in no time he cornered them and proceeded to lay a licking on them. He did this with both mares and that seemed to really aggravate the old gelding in the next pen. Today, I put them all in the large pasture with flakes of hay all over. The old gelding and the mares stuck together, and the old gelding and one mare would run and chase the pony gelding away and bite him. I put them in separate pens at night and will keep trying this pasture method in the day and hope the tension wears off. Let me know if you have any more suggestions. Those two geldings can be vicious!

@HorsemanshipAsAnArt
@HorsemanshipAsAnArt 17 дней назад
I like this question. The reason no one addresses this is because no one is willing to tell the truth about a horse that turns out bad. If everything was hunky dory and then went sour it was probably rider error but that does not matter. The fact is if you have one that is no good then get rid of it and get another. There are a lot of good horses out there. Thats what I do with broncs.
@ranchhouse349

@@HorsemanshipAsAnArt I like the answer except where do you draw the line and when? If I gave up on the few great ones I’ve had when they bucked at first I’d be sorry. I’ve already started eliminating them but they make darn good ranch horses once they’re a past it. Thank you for your response. Appreciated.
@HorsemanshipAsAnArt
@HorsemanshipAsAnArt 14 дней назад
@@ranchhouse349 I see what you mean. If you have a bloodline that you know works out of it in the end then you can cut them a lot of slack ( colt starters may hate it but...) however if I dont have a history with the bloodline I dont play around for very long. For someone that rides and raises horses as a hobby you can take a lot of time but I have to make my living doing this so I dont mess around very much if I know the colt has not been counterfeited by anyone. Otherwise I dont have a set line in the sand, I play it by ear. If a horse has good conformation I can make it ride around, question is how much work am I willing to put into it. I dont care if one bucks around a little the first week or so but if that is the go to answer after a month, lets go to Mexico.
