Hi! I have a masters degree in arts and I would like to change my career path. My masters degree doesn’t have any courses that are needed for the prerequisites of nursing. Where can I do the prerequisites courses?
I'm working on taking my pre-recs right now, and I am doing what you talked about at 14:41. I narrowed down which schools I'm interested in applying to down to 2. School A requires you have 3 out of 4 science pre-recs done by the time you apply, and School B requires you've already completed all 5 when you apply. I reach out to both schools to confirm that they would accept credits from a certain online institution I was looking at, and now I'm taking the 3 classes they both require. These 3 courses (plus 2 from my undergrad) will meet all the requirements both to apply and for pre-recs in general for School B, and meet the application requirement for School A. Then, depending on where I get accepted and cost, if I were to decide to go to the School A, I could finish the additional pre-recs required by only their program in the 1-2 semester window between when I am accepted/make the decision and when the program starts.
A local university in town is offering an accelerated ASN, for 39k. It’s 20 months long, 30 plus hours a week and on-call every weekend for clinicals. 😮 I am thinking of going for it!
Hi Margaret, May I know the average cost of studying accelerated nursing degree in usa? I’m looking for cheaper colleges (community colleges?) with any scholarship; I am 39 years old, Canadian citizen, pursued masters in Biotechnology and Masters in Public health in Canada and have been working in clinical trials for more than 11 years but I am always fascinated about nursing; if you could let me know some community colleges in US that would offer accelerated bachelor nursing be great help!

How did you decide between Medical Assistant and Nursing? I have an BA in Humanities/Sociology but started off in Journalism. Got accepted into a MA in Journalism but not really feeling like spending so much on going to an out of state school.
thanks for this! I got accepted to UGA (my dream school) for Journalism Masters.... but since I am out of state it's $40k,,, thinking about just going back to school for a BSN. Torn between nursing and just medical assistant though.
Congratulations!!! ❤ John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus Christ, the Son of God, loves you. He was crucified on a cross to atone for our sin. He lived a sinless life, and didn’t deserve to die. He took our place, and payed our debt for us. He rose from the dead on the third day after being crucified so that we too may rise one day. If you place your faith in Him, He will forgive your sins. 🌷💕 Invite Him into your heart, if you don’t know Him already. Confess your sins to Him, repent of them, ask Him to change your heart, and lead you. God bless you!
I just got accepted to a 15-month accelerated! This is so helpful and HOPEful-exactly what I wanted to hear! I will be leaning into your videos for a boost-Thank you❤️ I hope your wedding was everything you imagined.
Thank you for sharing! Could you tell us what program did you join? Because I have not been able to find Women’s health NP that helps With clinical placements! Thanks
I graduated with my bachelor’s in 2022, going back for an ABSN program and your channel is amazing!!! I love your outlook and view on everything about the programs and the nursing field in general, you’ve helped me so much 🥹
Hi Margaret. I recently graduated with my ADN in Dec 23, took my nclex on 02/08 and passed! I applied at my local hospital L&D dept and surprisingly got hired even as a new grad. I am planning on working for at least 6 months and then applying for my BSN and my ultimate goal is NP school with my masters in woments heallth also. So glad that I came across your video and look forward to seeing how your journey progresses. If you can also maybe recommend a online NP school like the one that you are attending that would be super helpful and would go right up on my vision board. Thank you in advance and best of luck on your new journey.
Omg you are crushing it!!!! Congrats on passing the NCLEX, that is a huge accomplishment! I hope you love L&D, hang in there at the beginning it can take some time to get into a flow. There are so many great NP schools out there with online options (I don’t know about all of them so make sure to look them up to see what’s right for you). Here are a few I found: Emory University Vanderbilt University Carlow University Regis College There are so many more and they are all over the country so I’m sure there’s one in your area if that interests you!! Good luck with everything 😊
I’m an L&D nurse too! It’s crazy that I came across your video, because I literally just applied to an NP program too. Best of luck to you!! I’m excited to be on this journey alongside you.
Hey Margaret! I made the career switch to nursing after watching your videos last year and I'm finishing up my prereqs now; I've already been accepted to Marian University's ABSN program in Indianapolis and will start this August. I want to go a similar route by starting as a cardiac nurse before enrolling in NP School too. Do you know what the requirements are? Can you apply to NP directly after finishing an ABSN? I was told many schools require 2 years experience and even then the rules are going to change soon so I was hoping you could clear this up for me, possibly in a future video? Thanks again!!
Hi! Congratulations on finishing up your pre reqs and starting your ABSN!! I am not sure what the requirements are or if there are any requirements in terms of how long you’ve worked. I know people who have gone straight from a bachelors to a masters! I would recommend having a least a year of experience as a nurse before applying to np school but you do you! If you’re interested in being a CRNA I know that requires at least 2 years of experience working in an ICU so maybe that’s what you were hearing. Best of luck with everything!!
Omg I’m in the same boat as you were at this time. I’ve spent so much time trying to make a marketing career work for me but it feels so soulless and unfulfilling. I’ve also always been interested in healthcare. In school, I took almost all the pre-reqs for nursing, but last minute decided for business because the pandemic hit and kind of scared me at the time. Thank you for sharing your journey. I’m about to go binge all your vids 😂
Hi! I believe mine was around 50k. I’m not sure what a normal or average tuition is for an absn program - I’m sure it changes depending on the credits, location, etc.
I used your template, applied to three different nurse residency programs and got called immediately by all of them. I got a job as a cardiac tele nurse. Thank you for the help!
Great Video! i recieved my first Bachelor's degree in Media Studies with a emphasis in Advertising, However, I will be continuing my education as an Accelerated Nursing Student next year. thank you for the encouraging words.
Hey I really enjoy your videos and find them really helpful, do you think you would be interested in doing a video for new grads that will be going into L&D as their first job, talking about advice and tips you have as someone who has been working on this unit for a little bit? I think it would be really helpful to talk about these things, thanks!
Hi! Yes, I would definitely be open to that! Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll start thinking about what tips I would give new grads in L&D!
Hey I just wanted to know that is an international student is also eligible for these accelerated programs? And were there any international student in your batch ? Pls reply
I was on the combination pill for 6months to help with heavy periods and severe cramps. It made my periods lighter, shorter, very mild cramps, just overall better. I did still feel like I had pms symptoms or like the moody emotional stuff. I felt like I was completely fine until about month 5 when I felt kinda bloated and my weight had gone up a few pounds (from 124 to 129-30). I was worried about gaining weight and wondered if it was the pill. That is when I got into the side of RU-vid that talks about the pill and it scared me soo much. From the horror stories to potential side affects, I started to get so anxious that I would feel them and I over analyzed every little thing to be a side affect. I was going through a lot on month 6th almost graduating and stressed about finding a job, relationship stress and worry, and I got so anxious one day it made my chest hurt really bad, shortness of breath, like someone was sitting on my chest.. I then thought it was my bc maybe causing me to be anxious and stress and then I worried the feeling was a rare serious side affect and was possibly a blood clot making me feel this way, causing me to have a bad panic attack. I stopped taking the pill the next day. I immediately felt better, my mood and worry was so much better but also I think it was because I didn’t have to over analyze everything and worry about what the pill was doing because I wasn’t taking it anymore so those risks were gone. Looking back now, I was a anxious mess, and I’ve always had anxiety and overthinking things. But I’m now starting to look into bc options again and I wonder if it was really that bad or was I reading too much and scaring myself… idk. Do you have any tips? If I was on bc it would only be for a year or two and then I would get off to start a family.. I just would like a little time to not worry about it and focus on my marriage without getting pregnant right away. Sorry if this is a lot lol
