I had a KH500, which was ported to the extreme, perhaps too much, as it had nothing whatsoever below 3,000 RPM when pulling away from a standstill. However, I do recall the alternative method of regaining the lost performance from the earlier models was to fit pistons with shorter skirts. My own bike was very powerful when in the upper rev ranges but it was an absolute pain to ride in town. Better to go with the shorter pistons, snorkel removal and upjetting. I had a pair of Koni shocks at the back and preloaded the front springs with a couple of bits of old cut up handlebar. Ohlins it certainly was not ! I'm not sure whether the gearbox internal ratios were changed from those of the first models. I do recall my bike, fitted with an OE fitment 16 tooth front sprocket was showing 110 MPH bang on the red line in top gear, wheras I've seen several tests of earlier bikes, even down to the H1E and H1F which showed nigh on 120 MPH at the red line. If you have any dirtbike experience, you will already be used to side shifting your bum to get a foot down on the ground. I’d definitely suggest throwing a leg over the XE before buying to see how comfortable you’d feel with the height. One thing to remember is that the showroom height is going to be lower than the height once you set up your preload properly. At 163 in my birthday suit, I added ten turns of preload to the front, and zero preload to the rear. That extra preload raised the ride height even more. Up in the P.N.W. you must get used to riding in the rain. I’ve ridden in the rain a lot down here in Texas, as well. Having the proper riding gear, I never let it bother me too much. I have the ‘24 Scrambler xe, and really like it. I’m still with the stock exhaust, but I really like the look and sound of your exhaust, and curious as to what it is. Also, that tail tidy. Very clean looking. I just got my break-in service done today, and the bike is performing great. Happy Trails

Congratulations on your XE. I try to avoid the rain as much as possible, I hate having a dirty bike lol. I had to go back and look at my mods video as I couldn’t remember what tail tidy I used. It’s the Iconic tail tidy. I ordered it from A&J Cycles. The pipes I also ordered from the same place, they are the Total Triumph Guy Martin Slash Cuts. These have the baffles in place. I did the factory fuel reset procedure and they work great. A lot quieter than my old Harley’s with straight through drag pipes.

@@charliestoybox2099 Thanks very much for steering me toward your mods source. I’ll give them a look-see.

Temperature in the low 60s would be a heatwave here in the UK. 🇬🇧🔥😂

Sure beats the 10-30’s we had this winter. Most mornings are still in the 40’s but the afternoons are getting warm. Still too much rain.

Come on down to Texas. The heat here can hurt you.

@@0HARE I’ve been down to Texas many times. Hated the humidity in Houston. We broke 90 this week, but it’s cooling off again for the next week.

Can you ride with a pillion with the slash exhaust?

Sorry but I couldn’t tell you. I don’t ride a pillion and my passenger pegs are removed.
