The Sterling SMG. was my personal weapon as a member of an infantry batallion, and also specialist mortar platoon. Don't know where the specialist platoon came from. But a good weapon, especially for CQB.
The best view we get of the gun is from 0:47 to 1:12. It appears to have the bayonet lug, the magazine well has a slight angle (as opposed to a 90-degree one on the Patchett), and the forward sight is stamped as opposed to milled. That would suggest the gun is actually a Sterling and not the very similar Patchett. As accurate as this show seems to be when it comes to firearms and how they operate - I have to imagine that they knew what this gun actually wasn't a Patchett Machine Carbine Mk 1 (it would have been stamped on the gun even if viewers can't see it). I wonder if misidentifying it here was intentional? Gary is a great character -- but he also has some funny screwups. Perhaps this was one that was meant to payoff later but the series didn't go on long enough. Remember how the "pee-pee" dvd came back to haunt him like a season later after it was first revealed?
When Ray breaks both the Biker's hands with his elbow @1:58 and they simultaneously realize that his death is inevitable @ 2:11 is an amazing piece of acting and direction. This show and the talent involved deserves more recognition.
I think in this scene at the end Ray killing or contributing to the demise of this man and his sons leaves a bad taste in his mouth almost asking himself what the F am I doing in this business?
The second time a bunch of RU-vid clips about a hitman show has led me to a new favorite. Mr. Inbetween is a lot easier to watch than Barry though, imo.
I just noticed this. He may have closed his eyes, but his hand went to the back of his jacket where he probably had a pistol. He might trust his buddy, but he's not stupid.
Just look at the way Ray puts his gun down very carefully, knowing he's gonna win and come back to pick it up. It's not the dog in the fight, it's the fight in the dog. Nuff said.
This is one realistic fight scene! No fluff, no fancy moves, no oneliners. Fighting is damn tiring, and it shows. Damn brutal, too. Eye gouging, biting, it's all there. And those elbows to the fists were sick! Awesome scene.
