My name is Niels and I'm Dutch. My 'minitruckin' life' started somewhere in 2008 when I bought a bone stock 1988 Chevrolet S-10 standard cab with an IronDuke engine. Fast forward a couple of years and I bought a 1991 GMC Sonoma ST extended cab with an 4.3 TBI engine. The very truck featured in this channel. I create content to show what I'm doing to this truck to bring it to the next level -what ever that level may be-.. Items I'll be addressing are modifications and repairs to bodywork, engine, electronics, audio, hunt for always hard to get parts, etc. As far as I'm aware this is the only first gen. GMC Sonoma ST extended cab in the Netherlands, what makes it quite unique.
When you follow the link, select Renault as connector type. For the horn themselves, search Fiamm two note set. There is basically one set offered multiple times.
Didn't there appear a warning about a burnt out bulb on the board? I want to replace it in my Ibiza, but I'm afraid that the computer will see it as a burned out bulb due to its lower resistance.
Hey buddy you have a very nice truck 🛻😎 I have a question I’m going to buy a truck 1991 4.3 what do you think about this trucks??? Is this a reliable engine??? Thanks for answer
Thanks man! In regards to reliability I'm not the one to ask since I drive it less than 1000km per year. I advise you to ask your question in one of the S10 related Facebook groups, like Hardcore S10.
@@gmcminitruck Oke ik ben benieuwd of dat lukt heb zelf nog een T4000.1bd liggen die ook hersteld moet worden. Heb daze voor een paar centen defect gekocht in de hoop dat iemand deze kan repareren.
@@gmcminitruck I think I have to buy alignment kit for center bearing and transmission. The guy who owned the truck before me lowered it 3 inches in the rear that might have something to do with it idk
It is indeed a very tight fit. I had to bend the hold down tabs a little bit. My Philips lights are two piece, so I mounted the base first, then slide the light in and clock it.
@@jorgeescamilla98aha, yes everything fits back as stock. These don't stick out. And never ever leave those covers off the headlights!! Driving without them will make the insides very dirty very fast.
I kept the high beam stock H7. In the Netherlands we hardly ever use high beam since all roads are illuminated, used pretty much only to signal someone.
@@gmcminitruckthx bro, but in case of is needed to change it (conditions in my country, gave me the necessity to use led also) do you know if this function or there’s an option for high?
@@jorgeescamilla98 I didn't test it, but why wouldn't you use these for high beam too. H7=H7 It's a reversible modification, in case you need to re-mount the halogens you can.
Yes I did. New.. I fear not. Maybe at a dealership somewhere in Germany, who sold blazers back in the day, still has a set. But you won't find them online. Would need to individually call them one by one.
I was wondering location of the sensor? If you run into stuck fasteners I would recommend some rust penetrating spray and working the bolt or nut back and forth or if you have space and air tools you can put on a wrench and use the light setting on your air hammer with a tie rod splitter head.
So . . . the big rubber donut side goes which direction (spline gear or u-joint end)? There were so many "wrong" and "nope" captions that I'm not sure how it goes. My finale assessment is that the rubber donut faces the spline gear that goes inside the rear driveshaft . . . is that correct?
@@gmcminitruck Thanks for the quick response. I'm putting mine on today or tomorrow on my '91 Suburban (it looks exactly the same as the Sonoma). Too bad you destroyed the "Slinger" . . . I destroyed mine also. You have to in order to be able to get the bearing off if you don't have a press or puller . . . it's in the way.
I realize this is a 10 year old video but do you have any pictures pr other information on how you made them? I have seen aftermarket LEDs for ASTRO vans but not 1st gen S10s
Back in the day when I made them I didn't shoot video and just sometimes a photo.. If I'm not mistaken I've included some more information into another video dedicated to the lights on my Sonoma. Please check that one out.
