Like an artist's studio, Capacities is a place for all your information. It stores your knowledge and can resurface it, right when you need it. It’s your own studio to collect, connect and reflect - a place to make sense of the world and to create amazing things.
On this channel we publish content about capacities. Learn to extend your brain and turn everyday's information into your superpower.
Thanks. Awesome. The ideal next steps would be : 1) to be able to choose or create a specific project and tag on the fly, when sending it 2) having a visible two way link automatically created between the tasks in Capacities and in the task manager 3) having Noteplan as an export option (without third party automation) Do you think it could be possible in the future ?
I've only just started using Capacities and can't figure out how to open graph view? The only time I see the graph icon is when an object is opened as a preview window, not fullscreen. And when I press the icon, nothing happens
I had skipped this video as I am not a student in the traditional sense. I’m so glad I decided to check it out anyway, the indenting information is really useful, thank you.
So... I can use this to replace my bookmarks and browser bookmark manager and just have my bookmarks in Capacities? I hate the bookmark managers in most browsers.
hold up, no offline mode yet... this saves the website as a link ... for ? isnt it better to save the ENTIRE web page as it is ? i do not, see the point of this extension to be honest...... And someone mentioned bookmarks, sure , but if you have safari on mac, its synced.... or use Arc Web browser....
For me this removes the need for a bookmarking tool and isn't a bad thing as Weblinks end up being with my notes anyway, so this is going to be a massive timesaver, as well as saving money on subscriptions.
I would like to suggest an idea. I don't think it's possible to create a zettle from a piece of text. When I take a literary note, I first take my note in its entirety. Then, I tend to use the "note refactor" plugin on Obsidian, which allows transforming all H1, H2, H3, H4, and everything under the indentation into a new note. On Capacities, I believe I can transform a line, but then I have to copy and paste the content manually, which is a bit tedious. Additionally, it would be nice to have a preview of the linked note or to be able to open it in a new tab. I haven't seen if that's possible. Otherwise, the tool is great, but I'm waiting to experiment with it more to see if I will switch from Obsidian. What I like less about Obsidian is its lack of ergonomics, sometimes its complexity, and its not very minimalist aesthetics. But I'm waiting to see if Capacities can replace this tool for me.
Thinking a bit out loud here, hope it's okay :-) (Note: I love Capacities!) Now it's been a week since I wrote anything in my "daily" notes, it's a bit too bad since it's really easy to jot down two or three sentences. But often I want to include a lot of other things, and sometimes I am unsure where I should write this. Now I have the DayOne app which I have used for many, many years, this has automatic weather and location activated in the notes, I also really like Capacities where you can tag people, locations etc., then everything will be linked together on a incredibly nice way. And to make this complete, I also have a copy of everything in the only app I have that I consider 100% secure and 100% private, Standard Notes. This complicates things so much that it is simply not used... I really want to go "all in" for Capacities, but is my data safe? How long do we have it? What if I lose everything? etc.
Glad you're liking Capacities! We want to be as transparent as we can be, so we have some resources that should help answer your questions: docs.capacities.io/more/data-protection-memo capacities.io/blog/why-offline-first capacities.io/blog/what-if-capacities-was-gone-tomorrow
This was really cool. Capacities is definitely shifting towards an all-encompassing app for me. Is there a calendar view that works well with scheduling events? Such as the ability to see monthly layout that automatically translates my daily events across?
I've been happily using notion for the past 4 years for my personal project management however capacities seems to have some additional features regarding pkm and standardisation. a comparison video advantages notion vs capacities would be awesome!
The beauty with Capacities for me is that I don't have to worry about the structure of my folders, if i put information into an object that I then think is more relavant to another object its easily changed over. I then use a dashboard object to gather all the info that I need on a particular subject, based on the MOC video that was done by Beth (the project object is basically the same thing) The only part of the PARA method I use is the archive tag, that I can then filter out of each object view but easily find all archived items through the tag.
I've also implemented a PARA method with my main Capacities workflow. Yes, I did exactly the same with Projects. Your demonstration shows how powerful Capacities is at managing projects-it is a secret tool superpower! For Areas and References, I found the power of Objects to be sufficient. I didn't feel the need to use References as a separate tag or collect. A web link, a book, or any object that stores information is a reference in itself. Grouping them together didn't offer any additional benefit so I skipped it. Sorry, Tiago! As for the Archive, I want everything in my Space for work to be current, so I created a new Space just for history, which I exported and then imported data to. This was a mistake because you cannot reference across Spaces, so I'm now using tags to show if something is no longer current, as it's important to maintain the links. This was when I realised that objective-based systems such as Capacities and Anytype don't really gain much from PARA. Being object-based helps these tools move beyond the problem PARA is ultimately trying to fix. However you can still make a mess in Capacities, and this is why it is useful to spend time on figuring out the structure of your 'MetaModel'. Now this is a whole new subject which I will write about shortly when I have more down time.
I am loving Capacities. And the host/teacher is excellent. However I am an American and the speaker needs to slow down slightly for me to catch the phrasing. This is not a criticism, just a personal observation-- and it may only relate to me. If so, just ignore me.
I found out about capacities just today and registered! I have been using Notion and Obsidian, for a new research topic i was looking into heptabase, but it is extremely expensive considering the its relatively small use case. Capacities might be a good fit, I like the app's concept and thoughtfulness in its design decisions. One very very crucial thing is: I want to be able to export all my content to a format that is useable and importable into a different solution. I saw in the documentation that it is possible to export single pages and subpages. However, I would prefer to export all content with a single click. Is this something that is possible in Capacities or being thought of for the future?
Is there a way to autmatically add objects to collections based on a certain property? Thinking something like "Relationship" which is a multi-select property. Each select option could be connected to a collection so any time you create a person with "Relationship" containing "Friend" they are automatically in the Relationship/Friend collection? Or am I thinking too much into this?
You can do this with object type queries! We have a video on this : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-35GCX55BNsE.htmlsi=mhKpEG-QQrWolRwJ
Hi. Just tried tables for the first time. I am creating a log to keep track of my sketches. Is there a way to add an image into a table? Thank you for your easy to follow and informative videos.
Thanks for your kind words! You can't add images to tables I'm afraid. You could create a collection of images called 'sketches' if you wanted to group them together?
That's great to hear! It's a tag called inbox which I have pinned to the left side bar (open the tag and the pin icon is in the top right). Once created, you can apply that tag to any object and easily access it going forward.
Wow, this is a terrible video for a company that is involved in knowledge management. The host is talking and talking while the mouse is doing completely unrelated stuff. It's distracting. Why not put the lady full screen with just keypoint about what she is talking about, then move on to examples. I am baffled by why companies try to save money on things like this. These videos are the face of the company.
This is incredibly unconstructive criticism coming from an account that calls themselves "teaching-learning". The presentation was on point as well as all on-screen examples relevant.
It calls itself an extendable launcher meaning it can be as simple as opening apps (like Apple Spotlight), but it also has a lot of built-in functionality (calculator, unit conversions, clipboard history, pomodoro timer etc). On top of that, developers can build extensions to other tools so that you can interact with their apps through Raycast, just like we've done with Capacities- all through the window that pops up when I pressed Cmd Space.
hey - could I add a bunch of pages as objects into a 'master page' then run the AI those objects to summarise the content? Wish Beth didnt rush over these little ideas!
