Some interviewers ask the tough questions, k.d. was alright with that. She is as free with her answers as she is with her sexuality. Talented , self assured and beautiful. GOD was smiling the day she was born.
Ugh. That was a painful interview to watch. Extra points to kd for keeping her shit together on that one. How ignorant and dated Connie Chung looks with her asinine questions now.
The acoustics where they are, is in the Palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Emperor Diocletian had more Christians put to the slaughter in the Roman Coleseum, than any other Roman ruler. They we killed for their Faith in Jesus Christ. The persecution began to spread just after Jesus was Crucified, and Roman Catholicism began to spread throughout Rome and her Empire. The Roman Catholic Faith was built on the blood of these Saints. No other Faith is built on the shedding of their blood, except Catholcism.
Interview was done in 1990 and we are a few days away from 2020 and we are still "kd langing." There haa never been a voice like kd's nor an individual as interesting. I am so glad that we live in an era of technology where we can watch kd's performances and interviews as far back as the 80's. Her interviews are always interesting, thought provoking and she's funny and yes, SHE CAN SING! I am so glad that she still gets on stage and dances around for us and yes her sense of humour is still going strong. I know she has said she was in semi retirement, which is fine. She deserves it but I hope she never stops singing to us. Thank you kd lang!!!
I'm regretting not buying the CD when I heard these men sing in Trogir, Croatia last month. Their strong clear harmonies were so breathtaking that I found tears streaming down my face. So, how can I buy the CD?
I thought that was a great interview - Connie wasn't asking those questions because she wanted the answers - she was asking on behalf of the public, the music world, the farmers, etc., giving the world the opportunity to know who k.d. lang is. You will note that when the 3 "queens of country" sing with k.d. they are all wearing slacks - unheard of and that was the point; although the Grand Ole Opry and radio stations were against k.d., she had millions of fans and won many awards, sold millions of albums in many genres. I love when she sings the Blues.
I remember when this interview originally came out--before kd herself did, haha. Toward the last of the interview Connie was just slavering at the chops, dying to ask kd if she was really a big old lezzbo ... and kd was obviously enjoying Connie's desperation.
Connie is pathetic. so pathetic. she has no clue as to how to interview people or be kind. I've watched several interviews she's done and Connie is perpetually condescending and bitter. kd lang sings beautifully.
The style is klapa, Dalmation folk polyphony which has become smoother in the last decades. A group of men (4-8 or more) sing throughout the summer, in the Vestibule to the Emperor Dioletian's apartments, now a round tower open to the sky - fabulous acoustic.
I remember seeing k.d.lang on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in the mid 90's and talking about going to the Vanity Fair parties she said that musicians always get invited and they usually go and end up drinking too much and having fun. She said she loved the Vanity Fair parties because musicians can do and just enjoy themselves and not have to work. I think I remember her mentioning that Monica Lewinsky was at the one in the 90's but can't remember rest of the story. k.d is Best singer in world.
