I like editing and making videos for fun. So I decided to make a youtube channel. I know, unique right? What you can expect from me ranges from a lifestyle perspective on technology (such as apple products, laptops, desk setups, and everything in between) with a bit of comedy in them, sometimes stupid comedic videos that only loosely ties to tech, and other things I might try out. I'm always open to new ideas, and try to read all comments!

This video does not explain why exactly an iPad can't replace a Mac. Yes typing and emailing can be done via phone as well, what's new in that? The most important thing is that on a MacBook, you can actually install software and run it freely whereas on an iPad, everything good is subscription-based. And to be honest, I feel much better paying a one-time fee only rather than getting robbed until eternity for a software. So technically its not a question of whether an iPad can replace MacBook, they're both almost equally powerful machines. The real conclusion is that iPad OS will never ever ever come close to Mac OS
Someone mentioned that they figured this thing was released in its current state because the creators knew that Apple and Google were about to release their versions of AI, so the creators wanted to get this thing on the market and get some people to buy it prior to that happening. Since the Apple and Google AI programs will just be part of your phone (or maybe in an app), the creators know that those programs will have better functionality and will be compatible with things like your contacts and other phone info (which this thing can't do). If they had waited longer to sell this, they'd be outshown by Apple and Google and would probably sell 0 of these things, so they figured it's better to release it with all its flaws early so they can at least make some of their money back. I would assume that this thing won't make enough of a profit to allow this company to continue doing R&D on it. Or maybe that's wrong - maybe they literally just put ChatGPT in a microchip and 3D-printed a cheap plastic case for it, and they'll make enough money from sales that will allow them to keep improving this thing. Regardless, as long as this thing isn't compatible with your phone (and probably never will be, since Apple and Google have already created their own versions), it will never be good enough or unique enough to be sold as its own separate product.
Not my idea of what a "wallet" is. This is a credit card holder and does what a cheap elastic band would do. It doesn't even organize your cards. I only carry three cards one of which is a metro card but my wallet also carries my drivers license, picture of wife and kids, medicare card, a postage stamp and a folded paper ruler. The three sectioned money part is good for holding $1s in one section, $5&$10s in another, and $20s and above in the third. As American money is all the same size and color this stops me handing out the wrong bill. (How do blind people fare in the US?). Plus my leather wallet is soft so doesn't wear a hole in my pockets. My wallets last over 10 years including being in swimming pools. Not sure what this expensive thing offers.
A hard pass on this thing. In addition to all the flaws you cited it looks like something I would pick up at a dollar store for the kids when they were young (they'd shoot me if I gave this to them now).
I love testing new products, and I bought Plaud on pre-sale (one of the first on the hype of AI stuff). That one does what it says on the tin. It is a much simpler product. I have no reason to buy this one and the humane pin. I am starting with the question of which pocket I should put this in, as this does not replace my phone. I know products in the first generation are usually bad, but those AI products are unusable. It seems like a recent trend; games, apps, and hardware have been launched with very few features and many bugs. I am a product manager and I don't agree with that approach.
How's the plaud treating you? I'd imagine there's tools and automations that could replicate its features but seems like the plaud is much more convenient to keep with you vs the ai pin or r1. This trend of "we'll fix it after" hurts all of us sadly.
Plaud is working great for me. I needed something to record meetings, calls and put memo notes. That one does that perfectly. And it is super small, attach to the iPhone. There is a subscription, but you can also buy transcription quota instead if you don't use that much (my case). And it launched fully working, and in 3 months they added more features, like a website, so you don't need to work from your mobile. I am waiting for that to be disrupted by Apple soon, but I think having a small hardware with a dedicated button will still worth it for some use cases.

While leaving boxes in the middle of the floor isn't socially acceptable, storage drawers are! If you can pull those drawers out, they act like middle-of-floor boxes until you want them to go back to looking nice =] If you want to see a real den of nightmares... I have a 4 port, 2 monitor kvm 😨. Split sleeving and velcro zip ties have been acquired =]
I really like this video (and I also watched the one you made about all of the home automation thing you wish you'd known). I'm a pretty girly girl and I'm also a software engineer and it really feels like most of the serious tech is designed to be pretty masculine. I've been working from home more recently and renovating my first home and all of the planning/setup is exciting but a lot. I appreciate that when you've included premium items in the setup it feels like the price of them was acknowledged and considered in whether they're worth getting =] thanks! I think for me I'll be getting the Logitech Lift in rose - glad Logitech is stepping up to the pink plate.

What a great presentation. You put a lot of work into this, and I for one, really appreciate it (especially at almost 76 years old!). You should set yourself up as goto consultant for people who need assistance for tech set-ups, etc., using Skype, Zoom, FaceTime, or whatever. You come across as someone very patient. I took your advice and purchased (it arrived today!) a Samsung 2TB SSD. I got it to work, although it was a bit buggy. The app it came with had to be 'force quit'---no option for a regular 'Quit'. Anyway, thank you! P.S. What about tape drive storage? Back in the day they used to be around. I am thinking about something that cannot be corrupted like SSDs are susceptible of. In other word, besides cloud storage, what is the most least likely storage device that will last and last. I learned (if true) that eventually CDs and DVDs will 'fade' or something like that over time--they are not an almost 'forever' medium. I would never have thought that because the disc isn't being physically being touched by anything, like a needle on a vinyl record.
most issues you mention seem to be solvable quite easy. the phone restrictions are quite arbitrary and can be solved with software (by apple), the tablet size is actually perfect for many applications like reading or note taking and if the mini gets a new chipset in the future it can make a decent desktop replacement. only as a laptop it‘s very compromised due to the small screen. i see a bright future for the ipad mini ❤
Or just get an actual camera like the sony ZV-E10. Better sensor, better image quality, all features a camera could possibly have and many more. Also the cost of the body and a lens is around 800 USD. Which is significantly cheaper than this. And other than that you also get the quality, reliability and future upgradabilty of Sony mirroless.

I used iPad mini but not satisfied as the screen is just bigger than the iPhone pro max..if you wants a tablet then go with 11 inch..I recently managed to exchange it
I tried to go from two monitors to one larger, but it's not what I had expected. Not sure if I'll go back just yet. I want the DREO purifier fan in my living / family / dog fur everywhere room.

My main problem with an iPad, Apple doesn’t have a note taking app that provides a nice handwriting experience. Whenever I have to sign a doc for I import it Noteshelf 3. Best writing/note taking app on iPad.
I admit, I considered an iPad for day to day stuff. I have a work computer and a lot of what I need to do away from work can be done in a browser or application. That, and the option to treat like a notepad.
Thank you for this great explanatory video which gets right to the point. I'm planning to switch back over to the iphone from android because I want a phone with good cameras at an affordable price and also I want magsafe accessories. For the past few years I've been using budget android or old flagship android phones due to budget constraints. While android itself is a great OS, you need the latest flagship to get good cameras and I can't afford that. Budget Androids have good everyday performance, good designs, good displays etc but 2 features have yet to trickle down: wireless charging and good cameras. For EUR619 I can get a new iphone 13 whereas I'd have to spend at least EUR750 to get a Samsung with good cameras. Even then, the video experience is poorer on android because you always get jitters, no matter how expensive the phone, and zooming between lenses always has a massive jitter whereas iPhone smoothly transitions between lenses. I'll check to see if the local approved distributor has finance options and once the 16 is announced hopefully the 14 will slide down into the EUR600 bracket. The magsafe accessories I want is a car mount which attaches to the windshield, the wallet, and a nightstand so i can use the new bedtime clock function. I have a Sony car mount but it uses strong springs to open the clamps and is awkard to use. I want the magnetic convenience.
i hate saying hey google or hey siri. just long press my phones power button, say "turn on lights". back in pocket or waist side within 2 secs. feel like james bond every time ....
I own an M1 iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. Take them both with me when I travel, even overseas. Why? The iPad isn't close to a good laptop replacement yet. I wish it were. For one, it's really poor at multi-tasking. An unrelated, recent anecdote....Was overseas wanting to watch the NHL and NBA playoffs. Tried streaming with the iPad.....all the apps were blocked, even with me using my VPN. Ok, no problem I thought. I'll just use the browser, since the app can see i'm using a VPN..... No luck...no matter which browser I used, I still could not stream ANY of the NBA or NHL playoff games with my iPad Pro. Using the same VPN on my MacBook Pro I had zero issues, and could stream both sports without any problems whatsoever. Had I just brought my iPad with me on vacation, I would've missed the games. Before you say I shouldn't be watching games on vacation...the time difference had the games on well past any time it would be possible to do anything outside anyway, so I missed nothing. Bottom line...until Apple puts MacOs on iPads, they're still just glorified consumption devices.
iPad is my favorite piece of tech ever. I’ve been trying to find an affordable way to connect to my MBP. The tip about Jump Desktop could be a huge leap forward for me. Thank you! There are things the MBP can just do. Things like being able to run Blender. I have zero minutes to give to learning a new 3d app. There’s also After Effects and Resolve stuff I just need. But I also need to draw when the ADD kicks in.
1 year later, after apple dropped the price a little, i'm buying one for my mum. i think model is good for old folks. they only watch tv on it and use skype (because zoom is too advanced for them).
been using mini for tablet and desktop purposes, but instead of a normal monitor I use portable projector which unexpectedly makes the black bars on both sides in mirror projection a non-issue.
