I laughed so hard owning a Peugeot 206 from 2005, probably really this happened as shown by Jezza and Captain slow. Although the 206 has more tech from the 90', luckily no VTi engines and good old French suspension. It handles rather well and has a great engine. Sadly, its successor the 207 lost the TU engines and disaster happened. I think, especially after the THP and the PureTech engines, if you consider buying a PSA car you should either look for a diesel, or a newer plugin. The HDI diesel engines, especially the 1.6 and the 2.0 ones are among the best diesels money can buy. From my experience french cars have a uniqe character and can produce faults you wont expect from any other car. But all in all, taking a look at my 206, they are great daily drivers, are cheap to maintain and good to drive.
Peugeot is pure trash, like Citroen and Renault. And now Stellantis will merge with Renault, creating a mash of poorly designed and even worse produced cars. Considering that all the worse car brands (including the infamous Opel) are now all mixed toghers, we can assume that the next trash car maker that will join them will be Ford.
