I was able to get sleeved cards into the new insert without any issues. I used gamegenic sleeves and everything fit fine. And to clarify, I’ve got all the expansions too.
It’s the same as the base game in that you can still only recruit a maximum of 2. Whether it’s one naval and one land, or 2 naval, or 2 land. Keep in mind naval can only go to port city regions you have. However as far as movement goes, you can move up to all your units one time. So if you have 3 naval, and 5 land units, you could pay to move all of them one time each. Keep in mind land units can only go to adjacent lands, but naval units can go anywhere. But you only get the trade goods for naval units when you recruit them, not when you move them.
My errata cards where exactly the same as the other ones. So I didn't know what to throw out. You don't need all monument cards now, do you? So take out them and you get a ton of room.
Hi, I think it dependes on the country and your history teacher if you know or not know about the assassination and how it ended up. Heydrich was very important for Hitler. Heydrich was THE ONE who came up with an idea to "solve the Jewish question" (systematic genocide). His aasassination was huge step against Hitler. Of course in czech republic and in slovakia (we are seperated since 1993) is this very important story as much as Munich Agreement, which was also very importatn because Britain, France and Italy basically give Hitler resources to start a war.
Expansion question: the tea cards give you a wonderland character and another card gives you a set of rewards/punishments with a reduction in your starting supporters. Is it correct to play with a different number of supporters throughout the game? Do the supporters that you put in the box because of the reduction stay there for the whole game or do you get them back during the game?
Yea the reduction is permanent. The only way to get extra supporters is from forging on your player board. But any reduction, those stay in the box the whole game.
Yet another FAQ that is off the mark on sleeves " The new tray will not only hold the new components but will be better designed to hold the existing components as well (including sleeved cards!)" The trouble with saying including sleeved cards is that the creators never tell us the exact sleeve standard they used for this consideration. IMHO they should go ahead and support 100 micron thickness sleeves but I realize that could be a very huge debate as it does effectively double the storage and weight reqs. The tray may well have been designed to support the weight of non-sleeved cards instead of sleeved cards. I'm leaning to keep an eye on the etsy 3d printer market for inserts for this game and its expansion. Nothing yet but time will tell.
@@KMReviews Swapped my Sleeve Kings 100 micron for some random sleeves I had on hand and got them to fit ok. I'm assuming they may have been 60 microns instead of 100. Also the FFG style of the 100 micron sleeves were too tall anyway for both the original tray and the new tray anyway. Sad we can't seem to get more creators supporting the "FFG" sleeve standard of the years of yore, especially since Sleeve Kings took the standard over. Yes I agree with the tokens being weird in the way they have to lay at an angle. I think my largest concern though is that the tray itself will just succumb to the weight of everything inside in no time flat through normal wear and tear. Then what the heck am I'm going to do if this thing is in shambles? Looking forward to someone printing a 3d solution for this that can slide into the original box that is more sturdy. I don't expect a 3rd party solution to be able to support 100 micron premium sleeves (whether FFG standard or not). Doesn't seem like there is enough room for that redesign but I could be wrong. The 3d designers out there are amazing in their customization.
I honestly dont understand people who sleeve games. I used to do it but honestly its such a giant waste of money. Dont drink at the table and you are set. You are never going to play games enough to damage the cards by "use" and if you are unlucky and destroy the game, you can either try to get replacement cards or rebuy the game and you will still be way ahead in your spendings. Sleevers are basically an insurance that never pays off but inconvenience you on top of it. That being said, I really appreciate your video :)
Honestly I feel the same way. With HUGE decks sleeving can make shuffling easier the way they slide together. But when I first got into gaming I was convinced sleeving was necessary because I knew a guy who would play trick taking games and knew what every card was based on every little ding. I’ve learned over time that was a rarety and I’ve slowly desleeved my games. I agree it’s way too expensive for what it does. That’s why I desleeved this one too lol. Now I have a ton of extra
@@KMReviews Yah I think I went through the same path. Thought sleeving was a must. Also when you start getting into board games you have this illusion youll play a game dozens of times but then you quickly realize that in reality, you end up playing the vast majority of games only a few times because you might, like me get many games lol But yah, I guess there are exceptions...if you know your favorite game youll play a TONS and its out of print, I suppose it may be worth it but this should be the exception.
A Foundations of Rome-related video might not be the BEST example of your "rebuy the game and still be ahead" philosophy. 😂But even a deck builder with 300 cards is what, 6 packs of under $4 Gamegenic sleeves? If they're standard card size sleeves, you can even get the bulk 200 ct sleeves for around $9 from Game Nerdz. Something like Splendor, which is easily replaced, I don't sleeve, but I do sleeve pretty much everything else. And it isn't even so much protection, it is about the infinitely more satisfying shuffling with sleeved cards. 🤩
@@RickKoeppen If you play a game very often and you shuffle a lot, its totally worth it. For 99.99999% of people, its not worth it because we dont play game nearly as often as we should to make it worthwhile. But at the end of the day, its your money and your life so whatever makes you happy. Id rather save the money since the hobby is expensive enough as is.
Yea I don’t blame ya. You could just keep some stuff sleeved and not others. Like don’t sleeve the solo cards, and don’t sleeve the objective cards, etc. make it work in other ways.
Havent gotten mine yet but I'm not too worried about the sleeved cards not fitting. Im probably just gonna sleeve the lot cards anyways. Dont really see the need to sleeve the monument cards and other stuff. Shame about the big tokens though.
Yea if you don’t sleeve absolutely every card you will be fine. Or if you don’t have the solo cards they will probly fit too. This was to show for the people who want to sleeve every single card because they advertised all sleeved cards would fit.
@@KMReviews yeah Even if I sleeve a lot of my games I don't demand inserts to take it into consideration. But since they said in a video that it fits it does cause some irritation
@@KMReviews I do not have the solo expansion. But where you put them in your insert I just put other bits. All my cards are sleeved in the 3 card bins. The larger cardboard pieces are weird that they did not make the one side section just a tiny bigger. I also have all cardboard money as well and still had space.

Really annoying that it doesn’t fit sleeved cards, really is a basic requirement imo, have had similar issues with some other pledges I had arrive recently, makes it feel like the designers don’t understand the customer at all...poor tbh!
Now I do have thick sleeves because I use dragon shield ones. Also if you don’t use the solo cards, you may be able to get close.. but it’s really annoying to me that those big tokens don’t fit in that tray with the others by millimeters. I tho k they could have adjusted a few things. But I think this is why there’s no official video showing it with sleeved cards. In the Kickstarter update he just says “I tested it with sleeved cards and it fits” but they won’t show that lol.
How did you figure this out? The rulebook was so very terrible and vague. I might give it another shot now. Bad rule books can make or break a game. I wish game designers or developers would realize/ that. Thanks so much for your video.
Have you played much with the expansion yet? The Tea and Crumpet cards look at lot like the Prelude expansion for Terraforming Mars, which kickstarts your game and speeds up the game length. Do you find this expansion achieves that as well as Prelude did?
It’s very different than prelude. It definitely kickstarts your game a little and gives some assymetry right off the bat which for me makes it more fun, but it by no means speeds up the game. I will always use them now though.
Most appreciative of your time to explain everything! I played 2 games of the original with my BG buddies and several online during the kickstarter (against myself, just to get the hang of it). I have yet to bust out this expansion (but plan to this coming weekend!) As our gamer group has kind of grown up and started having kids and such, so it makes it even harder to herd us all together to make schedules align! But this video will come in handy in less than 48 hoirs as we learn the next evolution of MOSAIC! Also i concur about the idea of military unit terminology...i do think the idea that a phalanx can kill a naval unit is quite absurd conceptually. Phalanx was strictly a land unit from my understanding, and no way a land unit could decimate a naval unit. We will probably house rule that sucker because the power is already OP for the Greeks. Ps. I'm a hardcore-oldschool advanced civ gamer from the 80s and 90s and we would play a minimum of 8 hours and never finish that game! While this game scratches the boradgame civ itch, its still not quite the same as the old school advanced civ, where you get to trade goods and pawn off disasters and epidemics while trading, and try to make another deal and pawn it off into someone else before the 5 minute timer expired! I've rarely ever seen anything quite like that since, maybe except for the card game called PIT, but without the entire civ BG thing going on! The downside to that game was everyone had to take their turn 1 at a time and each player's turn could take a half hour. Great game but timewise nobody will play it anymore haha. Hence Mosaic gives you a somewhat scaled back civ version that gives you quite a full feeling of accomplishment (hopefully with the expansion and more direct player interaction, itll feel a bit more full-on civ!) In only 3-4 hours (when you first learn how to play) and probably down to 2-3 for experienced players. All in all, Mosaic is fastest civ BG ive played that still felt like you played a real civ game and not overly watered down. Hoping W&D expansion will bring this up from a 7.5 to an 8-9 out of 10, while adv civ for me was a 9.5 of 10 only due to the length!

I definitely suggest using things like the base rings and leader dice for any game. It just makes the board state easier to see. I also 100% think I’ll draft the starting wonderlandian and resources for every game now, at least for people who have played before. As far as the alternate wonderlandian cards, I may do that here and there but I still prefer the base wonderlandians.

Instead of tossing the extra art prints and stuff. I just pulled up the bottom tray and put them underneath the bottom box tray. Out of sight and you still get to keep them.
The shards setup instructions actually suggest replacing your existing 24 Wonderlandian cards. That said they don't overlap perfectly if you happen to have promo cards ~4-5 of them? I stuck my originals under the bottom plastic insert along with the 2 replaced "character boards" in case I decide I want them back but I transferred the sleeves onto the new cards. I suppose this is the nature of promo cards, they are the lost step children of board games. Often perfectly designed inserts have no room for them and situations like this don't cover them. Having never played the original I'm not entirely sure I should be permanently discarding the original set. So to "deep" storage they went.
It’s just an expansion, you should definitely not get rid of the originals.. it just means replace them in the games you use them in.. any particular game you either use the share wonderlandians or the normal ones. So I don’t understand why you would discard the original cards..
Thanks for the insights. That said if you decide to always play with the Shards then you would have no reason to keep the originals and as it happens the deluxe box really doesn't offer immediate storage room for them other than tucking them under in deep storage. However, I do now see the desire to at least sleeve the whole set even if I've made it somewhat difficult to get to the originals. I am not sure though if keeping the extra set under that bottom insert would actually support them being sleeved (doubles their space required essentially). I might manage it if they are spread thinly on the bottom layer. For whatever its worth I noticed on BGG that I'm not the only one that interpreted this as full out right replacement instead of incorporation. Someone on bgg suggested putting both matching cards in the same sleeve and randomizing which facing is "up". That obviously doesn't help with the promos situation. @@KMReviews

Thank you for this video. It's very helpful. I have the Deluxe edition also and was wondering if there were any inserts that were compatible with it. It looks like there is enough room to use the deluxe edition miniature holder at the top. That's the one part I'm hesitant about is having the minis get damaged if they're free rolling around in a small box like that. Do you think that one section of the original deluxe edition insert would fit on top?
Yea it definitely would still fit. I kinda wish I had kept mine. This works but if you have a paint job you wanna protect, keeping that portion would be a good idea.
Yes. I got the Colossus game and the xl player boards from the first Kickstarter. Perhaps they changed the size of the boards to fit the Colossus box for the expansion kickstarter?
A lot of the backers from the first KS had the same issue. That's why I was so surprised to see that yours fit in the box. I think I will try and cut a bit off mine myself, and see if I can make them fit. 😊 I saw a video of a guy unboxing the Sphinx expansion, and he got an updated scorepad. It looks like they did not include that in the Colossus expansion. ☹️ Have you had issues with creases in your playmat?
@@christianibsen1994 I did have issues with the playmat. But when they did the second Kickstarter they offered anyone with those issues a new one they rolled instead folded. I also got a second set of XL player boards for free because my first set was slightly warped. You can get new ones man. You just have to write them.
