Great overview! So, apparently, Military and Naval Units are different...land units are Cavalry and Infantry, while Naval include only Ships. As a professional game developer, I'm dismayed by the choice to make that rule. Even if the designer had to reprint cards, the current situation will cause a great deal of confusion.

You said pretty much the same thing on my other video. I will say after playing it a few times it really wasn’t that confusing. Took an extra 20 seconds to explain, and everyone pretty much understood. The naval cards are very clear. There’s really only a handful of cards that would be even somewhat confusing. Since some cards specifically reference infantry or Calvary or siege units, there’s very few in the huge deck that just say “military”. Would it be nice to have reprinted cards, sure. No doubt. But is it perfectly playable the way it is, definitely. There’s only 3 starting cards and 10 main cards in the entire deck of like 120 cards that mention military units. The wording on then just seems like common sense thematically too. For example Formations: Eliminate 2 Enemy Military Units where you have an I gantry Unit. Gain 2 Influence in every region where you have an infantry unit during empire scoring. The picture is of land units and why would that take out a navy ship? You know? Others are also common sense. Bridge: your military units may move 2 regions. Ok well baby ships can already go everywhere so that’s obviously referring to land units. Food preservation: Gain 2 Military Units (Inf or Cav) and 5 food and 1 population. So it’s honestly not that big of a deal. What games did you design outa curiosity?

@@KMReviews That's great to hear. I'm pleased that it doesn't carry a heavy cognitive load. As to developing (game design analysis, play-testing, and proofreading/editing) games, I've been involved in over 100 titles. Most have been on the military war game side, having worked on dozens of titles for Decision Games and their two publications, Modern War and Strategy & Tactics. Mainstream War Games/EuroGames would include Academy Games: 878 Vikings and Awakening the Bear; Compass Games: The War: Pacific: 1941-1945; Flyos Games: Vampires the Masquerade: Chapters; RedImp Games: Cthulhu: Rise of the Cults, Martians: A Story of Civilization, and Pangea; and Stonemaier Games: Charterstone, Pendulum, 2 x Scythe Expansions: Invaders From Afar and Rise of Fenris, and Tapestry (both solo and multiplayer).

@@josephpilkus1127 that’s cool. You should make some videos on the process etc!

@KMReviews I like that idea, but I have no equipment or expertise. My daughter, a professional stage director, and I will start a podcast later this year talking about our respective art forms.

@@josephpilkus1127 all you have to do is point a camera at yourself and talk. Use a smartphone. That’s what my video is on lol. Your expertise is what you talk about. Each video can be about a different game you worked on and what went into it.
