I wonder what they will do with that. I think if it were remodeled, conversion to a hospital, another nursing home, hotel, dormitory, or to apartments / condos would seem very feasible for a building like that.
Every time you walked down one of those hallways with all the lights on and mops and brooms leaning up against different places i just knew someone was going to come out of room and it was going to be awkward. Its crazy to think that building has no people in it but practically every single light was turned on. Was the A/C working?
Think you deescalated the man with obvious issues well. Though the 1st Amendment allows you to film in public & there is no expectation of privacy, by you lowering the camera is better than some yt'ers who would of handled it differently & there are some who purposely do it & they want confrontation & escalation for clicks & views but usually what's called a 1st Amendment Auditor/cop watchers & almost as bad as Sov Cits, but YT rewards bad behavior if they really wanted to advocate for 1A instead of confrontation they would do as u did keep recording pan down & explain what's allowed & deescalate but that doesn't get views also most like Sov Cits only interpret parts or interest to them vs the whole law or wording. If I was you & not legal advice but I wouldn't give anyone your real name(though I don't do what you do, I would suggest you look up tradecraft though most doesn't apply but have a name & back story, like even when at a watering hole if I get weird feeling about someone I give them a fake name & have a backstory there are people I met yrs ago who don't know my real name more so if I travel to a certain area often) you should have it preplaned so it just flows to give to anyone except a cop in uniform (if you are in area where required to or if they suspect you of a crime most states u can be charged if they want for providing false info. Its becoming an issue bc of border issues, lying to a cop in general should be avoided, not guaranteed but depending on situation some have discretion like speeding, i personally have seen more warnings given when a person is honest vs playing stupid or lying) also have a story why your there, no disrespect but you stand out w/o knowing it like if I was you & personally something you can use is you studied/love architecture & interested in art deco(not political but the more liberal sounding as it's part of act most will leave you alone or if your in a not so good area advise to leave). Secondly though you did fine when he said he could arrest you & asking for ID he is threading a fine needle but he was smart enough not to say he was a cop(laws vary in some places demanding an id & threats of arrest can be looked as impersonation). I might of looked around, as almost everywhere there are cameras these days ie 2.48 mark the tan brick bldg has a PTZ camera(pan tilt zoom, though they have cameras inside places that look similar or tinted domes most are single direction, unless your are in a store or important bldg, like Walmart or Govt bldg which those cams aren't ones to play with good enough to zoom in to read text messages if they wanted to[Walmart also uses AI & similar software to casinos if ur ever board look it up it's kind of scary the tech used & tactics used ] avg places don't spend crazy money on security cameras unless they need to & even then it's bare min bc of costs. But most are tinted for security purposes so unless you point a light into it you can't see type or if there is even one in it, I been in elderly storage facilities with dummy cams[surprisingly they work or deter] & would be lying if I said I didn't mess with staff at times like once ask if we talked away from the desk & was like you know it auto tracks motion so it doesn't matter where we go ha[I have messed up dark humor]. But like in an occupied hospital bc of HIPPA, there are laws where they can & can't be also recorded or live view) just above & past hydrant near red car, I would of been like if you can arrest people for taking video of you in why didn't you arrest them & point to a camera but what I may do is also something I might advise others not to. As I mentioned I think what you did was best bc one you don't know if their armed or mental status like are they just a psych or did they take something in which some drugs cause paranoia. Also having cops called would end your video as even if they don't do anything they are now in the area & hint cops aren't dumb, so you might be labeled/suspected of being of something you aren't (& they might not say anything to you, though your description may get passed to others working unless they believe your back story or know your channel fyi none of your videos are anywhere close I also do a diff job now,& most of anything look for auditors more of safety thing as some can be anti Leo or criminals) also most get training or briefed on auditor/cop watcher, urban explorers, also alot cops know their areas,like that Y is probably known for squatters & drugs use(just an assumption & use of caution though tech illegal personally there are worse crimes than UX like u are just taking videos/pics of places & besides trespassing & tech b&e, most cops would rather tell you to get lost vs doing paperwork. The issue is bc of those who are doing bad things, stealing or breaking things you unfortunately get lumped in so if caught some property owners want to charge in hopes to deter people from going places. Like if they want to sell a bldg damage hurts resale also depending on age of being abandoned things inside can hold value. Like there are demo companies if a place is getting torn down they may bid to include contents(like I know one that does it for old wood to fixtures like lights or tubs) but if already scrapped or damaged they bid lower.
Damn, this is epic!! I hope YT doesn't take this down...great job on this one. I did a hospital a few years ago with active utilities and an alarm going off; pretty obviously abandoned, but also just seemed vacant. These huge pristine abandonments are so worth it, but it's almost hard to enjoy til you're gone...great idea waiting it out for a bit. (And now we play the waiting game... ... ...ahhhh, the waiting game sucks, let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos!) It really is INFURIATING what happened to this one...all our technology, all our "wokeness" 🤢, all our big talk about compassion, tolerance, and togetherness, and this is how we treat people (and in their "golden" years), the waste of resources and money, and space is absolutely deplorable! It'd be fantastic if the soulless ghouls who allowed this to occur received actual consequences, but...people; if it ain't broke, fix it til it is.🤦♂️ Anyway, thanks for sharing, lots of everything left behind (yeah, those looked like real prosthetics), stay safe out there and take care!! 👍😁
You know Jared. I am learning so much from you. The Next time I go urban exploring. I am going to just wait it out for 20 minutes to make sure no cop or people show up.
It did close without notice. The employees were told they would not be paid. The place had been slapped with multiple citations, there were staffing shortages, the place had been losing a large amount of money. Most of the residents were bused to other facilities but some did simply walk out which caused great distress to families, it was total chaos.

What a great explore! Good job, Jared! It makes me mad that all of those old folks were just made to leave with no prior notice and they had to leave stuff behind! You said 170 people were there? I wonder where they all went? Makes me sad & mad! 😞
After what the owners of this nursing home did to the residents and the staff by throwing them out at 11 pm on a cold rainy Friday night December 2023 with no place to go… I wouldn’t take this video, down but rather cover the whole story behind it, and expose everyone of them for what they did.
@@Spook1234-e8iFinancial reasons and that is not a good enough reason for kicking elderly people out of their home in the middle of the night in December in St. Louis! It is freezing there during that time of year and even more so at night.
In the event you get caught, nothing happens. You'll be warned and maybe given a summons but that's worst case. Gone are the days of jail time, this is because there's hardly any police, tons of homeless and lots of junkies. I'm not advising you to be reckless but you'll be fine. If I was doing that explore I'd put on scrubs and carry a clip board, people will think you're doing inventory

There’s so much history in those buildings. I work at the new one they built right next door.. I learned all about it in orientation. Back then it was a free will hospital, people checked themselves in when they felt the need.. now we care for court committed holds. And we educate them, medicate them, and hopefully can re enter them back into society.
Ive been here at least 5 times and i would break the door leading to the roof and just chill ive never seen this guy before and to think this couldve happened to me and my friends is fuckin scary lmao
Love the rant on one way streets. I always hated having to go to downtown KC for whatever reason. Every other street is one way, and now they got that r3t@rd3d trolley that nobody uses, taking up Main Street. Back in the 90's I delivered Pizza Hut in Independence and only had a few streets that were one way, but most of those were on the Independence Square. btw, back from our anniversary trip. Even though the interiors are trashed this one really looks like a nice building on the outside...just a good looking shell. It always seem that when the inside is gone...its really gone! Be safe
Another awesome video, sometimes i wish you spend more time in ur videos documenting the graffiti. Alot of the time u kinda just gloss over it but there is some pretty awesome stuff in these places. Great explore as always

You saw a cat in your explore last week, too. It's sad to me knowing all of these cats are inside these dilapidated old buildings. Poor kitties. 😞 The whole black cat bad luck thing is just superstitious BS made up by cat haters, by the way. Black cats are no more bad luck than any other black colored animals.
Nice video, love an old school! Some pretty artistic graffiti; I really liked that chalk art...somebody has some talent. I've also been in the Arch; I was a preteen, nice views from up there, and kinda shaky in the wind...the little pod elevators were a trip! I agree with you, no way this is a 2017 abandonment. Not violently destroyed by people, but that's at least 15 years worth of natural decay (ohhh, look at me, I'm a scientist now 😂😉). Now this was a cool explore compared to mostly seeing crumbling stairways, hanging wires and piles of rubble! There was a lot to see looking like Roman esc stage props! I noticed in this vintage footage the haircut. Was that your Justin Bieber look of the era or was your mom still doing it up back then? LMAO... sorry dude I just couldn't help myself!
