Thank you for checking out my channel! The wire is optional but it is necessary to solder 1 wire if you want the button for brightness control to work. Some of the newer laminated ips screen come with an attached touch sensor for brightness control but they can be a little unreliable
Thank you SO MUCH for making this tutorial. I tought that my GBC's sound was ruind when I ruined the copper pads, but with this easy fix I have sound again. More people should know of your vids, they're awesome!
Those are the original buttons! The rubber is shaped like a top hat 🎩 using a tweezer you should be able to pull to the side on an angle to get it out of the metal area to clean the button contact
Thank you for checking out my video! Please consider subscribing if you haven’t already! Those red wires came with the ips kit but you can buy 30AWG wire; here’s the one I normally use for all my builds: a.co/d/24a9Fvk
Thank you for the comment. Please consider subscribing. I wear gloves because my hands get clammy when working on game boys and my customs are usually commissioned for customers. It also provides a layer of safety when working with a soldering iron and other tools. Also, I don’t have to get manicures before filming content.
Instead of desoldering old capacitors, you destroy them and take them from the board piece by piece? Interesting way...Is that because they explode when use heat gun? What about using soldering iron and low melt solder? Other shops do it similar way? Very high chance of reaping cap with traces from the board, no?
Thank you for the comment! Great question; this method of removing capacitors is the easiest and quickest way to remove capacitors in my opinion. I heat up the pads and add some fresh solder before cutting it to avoid ripping the pads off the board. Check out this full tutorial I made - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yxx5j3EfZ8A.htmlsi=o7c14Hku9VY1WX6h Using a heat gun and low melt solder is definitely a viable way to remove the capacitors as well! I learned how to replace capacitors before I owned my heat gun so this method is most comfortable and time efficient for me.
Given that its fully reversible because doesn't require modifying the case, or soldering, it probably won't do anything to the price, assuming all the other parts stay original.
Great question! This was sent in for a customer who wanted an ips screen added. I kept everything original and didn’t trim the shell at all but from a collector perspective; it probably decreases the value. Luckily this kit is easy to uninstall so the option to go back to original is always on the table!
@@nadca2I appreciate that! I had ripped a handful of capacitor pads off the board when I first started so I definitely feel like I’ve had my fair share of practice 😂. My capacitor replacement tutorial - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yxx5j3EfZ8A.htmlsi=V5YyXIjtR00LMbwO
@@GameBoyMart Thanks man, liked and subbed. Am I right in saying that this removes the IR Blaster functionality, because the screen settings sensor goes over it?
@@user-kh2wc8nx1f I really appreciate that! That’s a great question; the touch sensor is fairly small so I wonder if it’ll interfere with the IR function. I’ll have to test that later! Also, you could attach it to the shell but I liked the idea of it being where the IR cover is. I’ll update you when I test it later
@@user-kh2wc8nx1f I have installed alot of these kits, if you put it to the very side of the ir cover you can still use it, although if you put it in the middle it will block it/cause issues. though you can put the touch sensor anywhere it will reach on the shell.
@@ChewyChicken589 this is the hispeedio laminated gba ips kit. I believe it is only compatible with hispeedio ips ready shell. link: www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805225072333.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.114.473018023tkC4Y&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa
I personally believe it depends on how much you plan to play it. From my experience with this shell; looks amazing but it gets a lot of finger prints on it when you use it and the paint can chip if scratched. I would recommend this shell for display and light gaming use if you want it to retain its shiny look and feel
@@ahdlkasdjfhalsdkj I have this one listed on my Etsy page so it is sitting in a display untouched, still looks amazing to this day. I can send you a video of me handling it if you’d like so you can see how it looks with fingerprints and what not. Feel free to email me and I’ll send you some samples
@@GameBoyMart Oh you are very kind i appreciate it! it is ok i can see in the video how this shell catches the fingerprint, my only concern was the lifespan of the gold paint i am still not sure if buy this shell or not but maybe yes...
Christmas 2023 my mom gave me the greatest present 🎁 ever a rebuilt Gameboy Color in Atomic Purple its all original and in my stocking I found a mint condition Tetris Dx. She also made sure my OG GBC had a Wormlight!
@GameBoyMart I know I haven't had a GBC in well over 20 years and still trying to get a Everdrive GB X7 unfortunately it's expensive so trying to save up
@GameBoyMart Thanks You are the best., That is very kind of you. Maybe someday we can do a collab in the future and Either way, have a great day. I enjoy your channel Btw.
Thank you for the comment! Please consider subscribing if you haven’t already. I offer these shells on my custom mods and have this particular custom on my Etsy page. I got the shell from Llyinteresting Store on AliExpress
thx for the video. What kind of display it is? funnyplaying GBC with OSD ?I didn't know that there exist a funnyplaying GBC display with OSD. where can I buy the display?
Thank you for checking out the video! I truly appreciate it. This is a funnyplaying display but the ribbon cable is one of the newer versions which has a visible display menu with more screen functions!
@@williamrobison3076 that’s awesome! no rush whatsoever; keep an eye out for my custom giveaway announcement coming soon. You may be able to win a custom for free!
Thank you for checking out my video! Surprisingly the re shells also print the Nintendo logo on the front! It might be slightly harder to see because the ips screen bottom peaks behind it
