I appreciate your comment. I only sprout seeds during the winter very sparingly so this isn’t something I do on a regular basis. This works for me, as well as others, so please feel free to sprout seeds however is best for you.
I’m having a problem getting it to be of a more jelly like consistency. It’s still good on toast just a tiiiny bit runny. I think I may have not let it set long enough I got excited lol.
Hmm… you might have needed to cook it while stirring it a minute or two longer. OR let it set up longer. I usually give mine 24-48 hours to set up good.
@lifewiththewalkers2797 I make muscadine, mayhaw, and wild plum, beauty berry, jelly and I cook till 120 degrees. I place a glass saucer in the freezer.and when my jelly reaches temp I drizzle a few drops onto the cold saucer. And push my index finger through it .and watch how fast the part runs back together. It's called tracing. The slower in comes together tells whether it'll set or not.ive never done peach jelly or jam.my peach tree is abundantly full of friut this year and I plan on preserving them this year.ive already done the others .well plumb is lacking lol
Very good. What brand lentils are you using for good germination? I had some organic from Sprouts that most were duds. Tho my organic mung beans sprout great!
I like your recipe, you see so many variations, I was raised making Jelly, so I always like new ways to do it. My mom always used Certo, I now like surejell.
What is the name of the hydrometer, sir? and what level is used to measure? what level (brix) of molasses did you get? sorry if there are wrong words, I'm not good at English, I use Google Translate, please tell me, thank you, Nusantara, Indonesia
A hydrometer is an instrument used to measure relative density or specific gravity of liquids. It is usually made of glass and consists of a cylindrical stem and a bulb weighted with mercury or lead shot to make it float upright. There are different types available for purchase online. But most used for this work the same.
It’s important to see the jelly completed, cooled down and tested. Many times it either didn’t gel up enough or it’s too stiff. Some other RU-vidr shows hers when it’s ready to eat, and they are always on the runny side.
Hello Mrs. Walker, I love this chicken granola recipe! We live in the high desert in Arizona, it’s December now, with colder weather than any of us prefer. I treat them to “scratch” every evening>> but your recipe will certainly be kicking it up a notch or two/ I know the girls will love it. I came to this video after watching your lentil sprouting in a basket vid. I do sprouts in a large jar, but will look for suitable baskets & add them to the mix. 🎄Merry Christmas & God bless you & your family. 🙏
@@amradviewer Translation: "I am related to you. Your Dad and my grandma are first cousins and we made molasses today as well. And my dad is Jody Addy" Don't ask me how I managed to translate this. Idek myself
My grandma had an old recipe for apple butter - I use her recipe now, but I use my slow cooker (she used a wood stove and stood over it all day stirring it). I cook my apples down at LEAST 10 hours (give or take a few). It WILL thicken up - you just gotta give it some time. Also, you should NOT have used that much liquid. I know the pears give off that much - but try straining it off. And that should work better for you!
Sadly my girls are very picky lol they don’t like anything organic lol or whenever I make lentils or they to ferment their feed so I just let them free range and if I have scraps or grubs
Hello! I made several pints of strawberry jelly but its too runny. I don't want to re-can them. Any suggestions as to what i can make with it? I was thinking stuff like, smoothies, flavored water, strawberry drizzle over desserts. Any other ideas?
If it hasn’t set up after two days you might not have boiled it long enough for your area. I know humidity levels and elevation change how long you stir while boiling. But if it’s still thin you can have some great syrup to put on pancakes and waffles 😀
@@lifewiththewalkers2797 yeah I live in a high humidity area and I think I didn't add enough sugar. Either way, I jarred them several months ago, so I'm just looking for ideas to use up the runny jelly. The waffles and syrup sound delicious! I'll have to give that a try!
@@kennethsmith317 we use it for syrup alot but usually I just make syrup same way just don’t add pectin snd don’t cook as long. Enjoy I bet it’ll be good.
My girls love sprouted lentils, and I am going to look for a basket like yours. I use jars, but they crowd the jar before the greens really come in. That said… I’m hoping the amount of mud and water your girls are in isn’t a frequent or long lasting issue?
Not at all. When this video was made was after a wet week. They’re area is dry as a bone now. They’re coop always has fresh straw in it as well. Hope your lentils will sprout better with the basket.
This isn’t about chicken but it is about your black berry jelly recipe which I came across by accident a few days ago. You made it look so easy and I have always assumed it was a complicated process. So I went to the store and gathered all the tools and went to a produce stand for the berries. I followed your instructions and made 7 pints of jelly and it is deliciously! You inspired me and a few days later I made several pints of peaches which is my husband’s favorite fruit and he loved it. Thank you so much for your great instructions. By the way, I am 78 years old so it is truly never too late to learn. Sue from Richmond, Virginia.
