The Bronx's very own Desus Nice and The Kid Mero, aka the Bodega Boys, give you their takes on politics, sports, entertainment, and other subjects they don't really know about. The brand is strong!
The "BBQ Becky" incident is the highest-profile viral video case in the history of the United States. An innocent woman that was doing the right thing to protect the children in her community almost paid for it with her life because of a sleazy lying viral exploitation video. The viral video created a massive Internet and real life hate mob. She was 100% right, she was not racist, and the two men were in the wrong area in the park where they had no charcoal disposal bins. The two men were breaking the law and potentially putting children in extreme danger and they got busted by the police and shut down. Note that charcoal burning on the ground can remain red hot for between 10 and 20 hours and it is almost impossible to see with no smoke and no red glow. It represents an extreme and unseen danger for children playing in the park.
Seeing this all these years later, I feel like it sums up the breakup in a nutshell. Desus worried about future mainstream TV prospects like a Ray Romano sitcom, while Mero is like, "That's not my lane at all. I'm on TV, but I'm not a TV n----."
