Oh my goodness....great recipe.... but the cross-contamination you get with your flour bag and dipping fingers and forks in and out? Not a good role model thing that?

I have made this recipe, but i much prefer the richness of butter, i definitely felt they lacked richness. They were light fluffy n nice when straight out of the oven but much prefer the original recipe

You explain very clearly what you are doing and why. Very helpful to new cooks ,but nice reminders of some concepts for more experienced chefs.

As delicious as it seems, I would like it if you would state everything that you are actually putting into the pan just for an actual visual state in the process It would make it a bit more easier, besides having to go back and listen to what you put in there when you cut it or actually adding.

I love a scone! Mum's all over Australia bake scones with lemonade. Haven't adopted it from my mum just cos I never have it in the house and scone cravings are one of those things I get sudden bouts of, always half-past really late. In saying that I gotta try this. Really great tips and techniques I've already adopted, and I use buttermilk + lemon juice and a pinch of bicarb soda for the extra lift which doesn't seem to have the same effect as seen here. Cheers!

These aren’t ANZAC biscuits. Once you alter the recipe they become something different. The Australian Department of Veterqn Affairs have a guideline that ought to be respected. It’s even illegal too sell an altered recipe as ‘ANZAC biscuits.’

Do you have to put in all that sugar? Can leave it out?
@mellowmarkable
@mellowmarkable 11 месяцев назад
I was going to make these, but the amount of sugar put me off! These are the ingredients for the recipe in the video: 125 grams (4oz) butter, chopped 2 tablespoons golden syrup or treacle (see tips) 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) 2 tablespoons boiling water 1 cup (90g) rolled oats (see tips) 1 cup (150g) plain (all-purpose) flour 1 cup (220g) firmly packed brown sugar 3/4 cup (60g) desiccated coconut These are the ingredients from the BBC Good Food website recipe (I made this one instead). They were tasty but I could taste the bicarbonate of soda which was a bit unpleasant, so I will use less next time. Ingredients 85g porridge oat 85g desiccated coconut 100g plain flour 100g caster sugar 100g butter, plus extra butter for greasing 1 tbsp golden syrup 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda As you can see the quantities for the BBC recipe are fairly similar - except the quantity of sugar is less than half and the quantity of bicarbonate of soda is double. A fair bit less butter and flour too. If/when I make these again, I will use the BBC recipe again, but halve the amount of bicarbonate. I think the ones in the video would be far too sweet with more than twice the amount of sugar and golden syrup 😮. I am sure you could make them with even less sugar, biscuits are fairly forgiving. Not sure you can leave it out completely though?

what is the point of saying it is the best recipe if you then don't provide the ingredients.

If they’ve got fruit or nuts in then they aren’t Anzac buiscuits
@PilotFlight2Mars

You’re 109% correct. Furthermore, it’s illegal too sell ANZAC biscuits that have an altered recipe.
