Dude great job man. new the the channel watched the vid where you where leak testing the tank then jumped to the end. gonna say you one hell of a job on the basement and tank! I have a small basement that I want to do the same, but with salt water fish.
Grab yourself a couple of long air stones that fit across the sump, add them in instead of the disc air stones and place one at each end of this section. This will give a better overall circular flow and keep all the media moving including the corners.
Awesome video. As a lifelong carpenter one piece of advice for anyone wanting to build something like this...a wet rag wiping off excess glue saves a lot of time with a chisel later.
Sir why used two glass in every partition to add water from top side if I use one glass then water can also move to next part. I mean 1st glass has 2 inch gap from bottom and 2nd down 2 inch from top then water can go zig zag plz tell me reason to use 2 glass before every partition. Very beautiful cichlid
Nice rainbow fish community tank ....scarlets and some turquoise also. There's some beautiful rainbow's setup in Jarvis tank which you can mimic. Did you remove those marine pure blocks from your sump and what are you feeding your discus...heart mix foods?
Great set up only thing I'm unsure of it looks like the fresh water from the ro looking filter is going straight into the same chamber as the basement waste drain ? @jetblink619
It is personal preference and all lights that are full spectrum adjustable are different. I would suggest adjusting it to your liking. The red light tones will make the yellow/orange/red in the fish pop. The actinic…or blue tones will make blues be more vibrant

hey :) do you have a link on what airpump and stones you used for the moving bed k1 kaldness filter. ? i just bought it for my Sump as well to try it out. but the eheim 400 i have for it cant even move it around :)
Worth every bit of 6700! Even much more. I know you have since changed the fish and scape. Beautiful tanks. You are very handy. This saves a fortune too.
Impressive Sump design. Can you explain how the auto top off ( using the float valve ) system works in the sump. Also is it possible through any automotive system in which automotive water changes ( periodically small amounts of 15 to 20 gallons in the sump specifically in the Return Chamber, four to five times in a 24 hour duration of every after 3 to 4 hours time gap ). Trying to figure out small AUTOMATED water changes procedure in the sump... like 20 to 30% water changes of the total tank capacity.
This is an old vid, this tank has a constant drip system on it now. It’s been in use for a couple of years now, I have a vid or two on it if you want to check it out.
What is the reason to choose so many different types of media, instead of using only either K1 or lava rock, or the ceramics? Not talking about the pH buffering by the coral rock... Wouldn't you go better with one area just for K1 or with lava rock alone? I think lava rock is better than K1. What do you think? Anyone else?
Love the build. Just an FYI, any cabinet builder will tell you that the factory edge(s) isn't necessarily straight/square. Most pros will cut off a small bit to make sure it is. That glue is the bomb.
