@3:34 im looking to FIND the roamers not FARM the roamers, this guide does nothing if i can't see them. how do i know they are their if my pokedex in polished crystal/base crystal doesn't have them? do they show up as the first mon in the route that you will find? or do i have to farm lvl 5 pidgey's until i find a legendary? i don't mean to come across as hostile, this is more point at google for recommending me this video when this ISN'T what i need [or asked for]

Go here and look at the chapters, go to "dexless method" around 13 mins in... That's the best way for finding them like you want... With that said, the Mahogany-release method in this video where you've commented, could also be used as a very effective tool for reliably finding Suicune and Entei in particular without a dex entry. But really, this video was a more focused shiny-hunting one, as you say, aimed at "farming". If I save after the Burned Tower, is the shiny-ness of each beast already set, even if I haven't encountered any of them in the wild? Have I cheated myself out of getting shinies of them?
Short answer: No Don't sweat it. In generation 2 they are even cooler, because it all happens on the encounter itself, doesn't matter when you do (or did) the Burned Tower as long as you haven't encountered them and saved the game after.
Going to hate myself for this but i really want to hunt raikou because he's my favorite beast and favorite electric type in this game so wish me luck 😅
Question- Let's say I want to be an omega sweatlord and try to get all 3 shiny's on the same save file in Gold/Silver. Would I use the Mahogany Release method (SR'ing after the first encounter) to land a shiny Entei or Suicine, then switch to the Route 38 method for Raikou and the other remaining one? Or would it make more sense to use the Route 38 method from the beginning?
Hey this is a great question, so firstly thank you. It prompted a good little discussion of this old stuff actually. The answer is to start with Mahoghany from our perspective. The spawns are incredibly strong (so strong in fact, 35 MPH was achievable dexless, so with dex you can put up even stronger numbers). Another thing is that you can effectively ignore Raikou in the pokedex while doing Mahogany since you will be checking the one and then SRing - should make the whole thing feel more slick. But all-in-all, whatever method you choose you will get results - hopefully you let us know about your future exploits and experiences with it. All the best.
Will do! I found this video after I beat the elite 4 in my VC copy of Gold version, so my Dex is suboptimal to put it mildly- 4 right+4 down to get to Entei in AZ mode. Even with that, the rate of encounters was absurd- I saw them more yesterday than I have in my entire life lol. One thing I experimented with while waiting for your reply was biking to route 44 in the event i didn’t land entei or suicune on route 42, then dex checking them one more time before resetting. I did encounter all 3 of them on route 44 at various points- but my gut tells me it’s probably a pretty significant hit to MPH compared to just SR’ing if I dont land one on 42.
@@SW4MPMONST3R "Omega Sweatlord" that one cracked me up 😂 Nice job experimenting with biking over to Route 44! We did that in the very beginning of testing these actually. That's a very strong play for landing Raikou. But overall it's eversoslightly a disadvantage. I mean not by much honestly, but the biking, extra dex checks, and surfing for encounters will add up time and fall short of the 50/hr mark. By all means feel free to do that on attempts you don't hit any Suicune/Entei's, part of the fun is to be able to mess around doing different stuff with Roamers. Best of luck on your hunts 🍀
@@RichieL1991 Truthfully I was dumbfounded when I stumbled across this video. I thought the most optimal strategy had been discovered in a reddit post I saw about 8 years ago: Get them in the dex by flying to mahogany, bike to route 42, wait for encounter or repel to wear off- if it wears off reset. Then once they’re in the dex, fly to violet city, enter/exit pokemon center, dex check, bike to a shared adjacent route (or route 37 if both you and roamer are 2 routes away). I was honestly just looking to see if there was any live footage of a shiny roamer encounter in gen ii. I did not expect to find out that 2 absolute lunatics had discovered a way to land 40-50 encounters per hour using the warp from a poison faint-out LOL. Probably the nerdiest and coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Right now, with an initial dex check requiring 8 inputs, and resetting after 1 encounter, I’m averaging around 35 mph. Im about 6 hours in so the hunt is still young! Thanks for taking the time to reply- and for the countless hours and/or black magic rituals it took for you guys to come up with these strats!
@@SW4MPMONST3R LOL, sure thing. I know that exact reddit post you are referring to. We tried our best to promote our methods there, but a las to no avail. Thankfully you were able to find your way here. And honestly a lot of people who really want to shiny hunt these Roamers do. Obviously that out-dated guide won't cut it for most people so they seek more. (And by most people, I mean probably like 10-15 us actually shiny hunting these things 😂 ). Also, that's great progress already, awesome to hear! Gonna shine in no time ✨ Yes there were many countless hours from 2020 to 2022. Literally 2.5 years to form the method that came from this video. So many different iterations in-between. It's even mind-blowing to us still to this day. 😳 GEN 2 Roamers will always be the most sacred. They are the first ever Roamers, and also GEN 2 cannot be so easily RNG Manipulated. Anyone who wants a shiny of these has to do it the 'old fashioned way' pretty much (less ACE or Genning, etc.).
This is really well made and researched. I want to do a raikou hunt but due to bank shutdown I need to finish frlg one and deoxys in emerald. Either way I will gladly use this. The amount of detail this goes into is insane.
I can use this on pokemon silver emulator and hatch any pokemon? Naah theres no way, shits too good to be true. I could get steelix and other pokemon that need to be traded otherwise? Or get for example teddiursa even tho it can only be traded from a gold game?
Should I be trying to see each one if I'm catching all 3 in gold/silver? Like what if one of them is shiny but I run into one of the non shiny and reset?
Put simply: As long as you don't save after having seen one of them, it could still be shiny. So you probably only want to see one each reset if that's how you want to do it. This was amazing! Took a few attempts to get the route 46 method going but after about half an hour I got Entei, and then THE next attempt got Suicune on the same route Entei was on (42 after being on 37). This is easily the best method I’ve seen on RU-vid etc. Good work guys!

You know no one ever believes me when I tell this story but as a kid my first ever shiny encounter was raikou and my first ever shiny captured too however since it was on the gbc I couldn’t keep him forever and that’s always bothered me, I few months ago I picked up a 3DS and managed to get crystal before the e shop closed and I’ve been dreaming of that raikou since then but to know it wasn’t a false memory and to also have a real shot at finding him again it’s an itch I can’t scratch and I want to say thank you for putting together this guide for us and I can’t wait to track him down again I’ll reset my game if I have to, bonus when I started I soft reset for cyndaquil and I currently have a shiny typhlosion that I’m very proud of. Again thank you and I’ll update this comment when I track him down again. My coworker and her boyfriend are gonna go nuts when I show them the beast trio shiny on top of getting ho-oh and Lydia while I’m at it. Again thank you

Found Entai on accident SUPER early during my first run ever in Crystal. Totally cheesed it with save states, but my lord even catching it with cheesing felt like a chore😂
Unfortunately it is hard to say, with neither of us having played any Rom Hacks. All of the GSC rom hacks are different too, so you'd probably have to get some background info. on how the roamers shininess is generated, and if they even roam at all. A lot of the rom hacks make "QoL" 'improvements' and generally speaking that means turning the roamers into static hunts instead of roaming hunts. Some others change the shininess to be determined when you release them too, or which routes they can roam, if they're trackable in the dex, etc.. So you'd have to check on those specifics first.

Appreciate the guide! I'm using the no-dex method on my gold version, just going to see which one I can get! Encounters seem to be pretty reasonable too.
Question, if I track down a roamer to a route and I’m playing on an emulator, would I be able to use save states to keep resetting if the roamer isn’t shiny?
I have a question about the Mahogany method. When the dog is at Route 43 and I am at route 42 or 44 what should do I do in this case? Trying to encounter in one of those routes by going back and forth of Mahogany?

Hello! I got the question.. the question is that, if I have found Shiny Entei already should I catch it when hunt the Raikou?? I mean there are few times when Entei appears in the same place and I know it stats are locked as now on, But the question is can that "locked" attempt be a shiny attempt, so I dont know if Im phasing??? I found Entei with 6849x and Im on 4128x Raikou right now! :)

I’ve encountered raikou twice but didn’t immediately save after the encounter I saved like hours after cuz I was playing crystal normally so is it shiny locked or not?
