Florante Aguilar is one of the most active figures in Philippine traditional music today. His arrangements and compositions reveal a deep understanding of the form, successfully crafting the right balance between respect and redefinition of a tradition.
His constant search for a tradition-based contemporary Filipino sound led him to champion harana music - songs used in the now-vanished Filipino courtship ritual of serenading. Aguilar's compositions, which use strong Philippine motifs in a modern context, include works for guitar, octavina, violincello, percussion, as well as song cycles and a zarzuela.

Sobrang saya ko na makapanood ng ganitong documentary, the first documentary that I watch. I am really thankful to someone na nag-recommend sa akin na panoorin ito about 3 months ago at ngayon ko lang nabigyan ng time para panoorin. After watching this, nabuhayan muli ang Maria Clara inside ko. Kahit hindi ko ma-follow ang bawat linya ng kanta ay tagos sa puso ko ang bawat tugtog ng gitara that makes me more understand it. Thank very much po for this documentary. Ngayon ay malinaw na sa akin ang kagandahan ng harana. This documentary answers the questions na matagal ko na inaasam na malaman. Wow 🎉🎉 Both are very talented. I don't think it is fair to compare. First of all they are using entirely different guitars which can greatly affect the sound. Different style of play. I wish I can see them both play a 12 stringed Rickenbacker guitar. That will sound awesome.
