I was down the beach on Friday morning at 00:20 hrs and Saturn was over the sea with the Moon off to the left.First time i'd seen Saturn since ,I think,January .
If we succeed in the future in making artificial atoms, molecules have negative mass properties and we humans can keep them in a safe place. These could also give rise to unknown forces enabling humans to reach faster than light speed and reach other stars in days.
from bullingers "the witness of the stars" PERSEUS (“The Breaker.”) “The Breaker” delivering His Redeemed. Here we have set before us a mighty man, called in the Hebrew Peretz, from which we have the Greek form Perses, or Perseus (Rom. xvi. 13). It is the same word which is used of Christ in Micah ii. 13. When He shall surely “gather the remnant of Israel” (v. 12), it is written- “THE BREAKER is gone up before them.... Their King is passed on before them, And the Lord at the head of them.” This is what is pictured to us here. We see a glorious “Breaker” taking His place before His redeemed, breaking forth at their head, breaking down all barriers, and breaking the heads of Leviathan and all his hosts. In His right hand He has His “sore, and great, and strong sword” lifted up to smite and break down the enemy. He has wings on His feet, which tell us that He is coming very swiftly. In His left hand He carries the head of the enemy, whom he has slain. In the Denderah Zodiac His name is Kar Knem, he who fights and subdues. The star α (in the waist) is called Mirfak, who helps. The next, γ (in the right shoulder), is named Al Genib, which means who carries away. The bright star in the left foot is called Athik, who breaks! In his left hand he carries a head, which, by perversion, the Greeks called the head of Medusa, being ignorant that its Hebrew root meant the trodden under foot.58 It is also called Rosh Satan (Hebrew), the head of the adversary, and Al Oneh (Arabic), the subdued, or Al Ghoul, the evil spirit. The bright star, β (in this head), has come down to us with the name Al Gol, which means rolling round. It is a most remarkable phenomenon that so many of these enemies should be characterised by variable stars! But this head of Medusa, like the neck of Cetus, has one. Al Gol is continually changing. In about 69 hours it changes from the 4th magnitude to the 2nd. During four hours of this period it gradually diminishes in brightness, which it recovers in the succeeding four hours; and in the remaining part of the time invariably preserves its greatest lustre. After [pg 117]the expiration of this time its brightness begins to decrease again. Fit emblem of our great enemy, who, “like a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour” (1 Pet. v. 8.); then changing into a subtle serpent (Gen. iii. 8.); then changing again into “an angel of light” (2 Cor. xi. 14.). “Transforming himself” continually, to devour, deceive, and destroy.
The NLC 's were extensive on Friday night and stretched down to about the middle of the sky. They haven't been too uncommon in 2024 and maybe more of them but it's been so cloudy with Tropospheric clouds hard to tell what is above them.
Be lucky to see anything at the moment it's like we've shifted to the latitude of Iceland with a high of 13c 2 days ago and a subtropical 14 today appalling for July and we might as well just rename the whole year November.
It went well in June for Noctilucent Clouds! Although I didn't see them as described as they were across the whole sky one night and in the north east the other.
Wonderful summary of the month's events as usual chaps. We can definitely say that June was a good one for noctilucent clouds, so hopefully July will be good too. Also, thanks for using my noctilucent clouds star trails image in the video! Much appreciated. Clear skies everyone 😃
Nice Noctilucent Clouds last week.I had to get up early Tuesday to Friday so was only able to look Sunday,Friday and Saturday nights and saw them Sunday and Friday although nothing last night.

It's an asterism - an unofficial pattern - so you can theoretically call it what you like. Of course for names to stick they need to become popular. Different countries also have different unofficial names for it.
Apart from Earth I haven't seen a single planet for about 2 months now and I think that Jupiter was the last one I saw as it retreated from the evening sky.
In 1913 Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote a story inspired by the 1910 comet hysteria called "The Poison Belt" about a comet which many believed would envelope the Earth and its cloud would kill everyone--but all it did was put everyone to sleep although many people thought they were dying, only to awaken from a deep sleep.
