I know that this video was a while ago, however this is for anyone reading the comments on how to get rid of rats and mice, the video is excellent as well however you can also buy a large bag of granulated cayenne pepper and put small spoons of it around edges of the garage walls and behind cabinets the hate this stuff, however it can make you cough because it's ground cayenne. Bugs don't like it either, if the rodent has eaten a round hole in your walls sometimes they do this to gain access to the inside of your home, take a little peanut butter and rub it inside the wall where they are the whole, then take a tablespoon and put some cayenne pepper on it spoon it in the hole, blow it in if you can do this also behind dryer holes and say you kitchen under the sink where there is a small hole from the pipes. Put some in there put it where mice and or rats are coming in if they get into this they will have to get out quick to get 💦 water as this will burn their tongue and eyes if they scratch it on themselves. Put it where your only mice or rats will come in. Make sure your pet doesn't get into these areas. Also outside you can kill these critters by mixing baking soda (AKA) sodium bicarbonate same thing with any food scraps rats and mice are not too fussy they eat rotten food. Mix a good amount through the compost scraps and put it in small plastic dishes in your garden, check every day to see if they are it, they will die because mice, rats, squirrels and cockroaches cannot digest baking soda and will die. Cockroaches are attracted to onions and onion powder so mix equal amounts to kill them off they will bring it to the nest to feed the others then they will die. Won't harm domestic pets only these animals. Rats mice, squirrels and cockroaches. If you live near a creek or small brook you might have to put some scraps mixed with baking soda there too because they live near creeks due to water. Tell you neighbors to participate in doing this if you have the problem with these creatures they have it too. If everyone participates in their eradication you might be able to kill them all off for a good long time. Just keep doing this and they will die.
Hello, sir. My battery on a BMW X4 diesel died and was dead for a week, and when I wanted to unlock the car to get a new battery, it refused to open with the key, so I had to unlock it manually.Fast forward, I got a new battery and installed it, and when I tried to start the car, it didn't want to start, so I used jumpers and jump started the car directly from the battery, and surprisingly, it did start, but it kept showing faults like led light fault, drivetrain fault, and it kept losing power until it ended up kicking out the gears, and now when I start the car, the system goes completely off although the car is still idling. The lights don't turn on, the radio and screen turn off, everything goes dark, and the speedometer doesn't move even when you rev the car, so I phoned someone to get it checked, and they are battling to fix the problem. Do you believe it could be the power module?maybe a blown fuse because even after trying to diagnose it the machine says it can't access the system 💔.please help
Wow, sorry to hear you have this issue on your X4. I think this issue might be a lot deeper than just a power module. This is something that would need hands on diagnosis. You can send me the car and I will be happy to take a look :)
According to the repair manual, the screws from the valve cover should be loosened from outside to inside. And tightened from bolt 1 to bolt 26. So I think loosening them from 26-1 is the correct way to do it.
My car kept stalling while driving and my mechanic found out the harness wires have been chewed up by the rodents and three giant nests were found around the engine. Thank god, I could claim from my Insurance. Otherwise, I have to pay $4,000 to get it fixed. Where do I put the Bucket?
Wow they did some crazy damage! I have my bucket right on the side near a wall and the ramp down near the wall. Rodents usually follow a wall and this will help you trap more.
Why I don't trust mechanics. Took my car in bc of rpm's high before changing gears. Told me maybe differential but rotors NEED to be changed bc of grooves. Said should be smooth. Didn't say anything about thickness. Car doesn't shake when breaking. Said should change pads since changing rotors. All for $450 + tax. That was the running sale. Glad I trusted my gut. And decided to wait and research. Thank you for this detailed video.
You are very welcome Dawn! Grooves can be caused from hard spots in the pad material. Not uncommon and rotors do not need to be replaced unless they are below min.
Very helpful video, but you used #9 on the caliper service tool, not #6. I would also add that the left and right rear wear indicators are different and require a different cable.
Hello Andre, If your engine has a lot of gunk. The best way to fix this, is to remove the cylinder head and send it to a machine shop for cleaning, valve seals, and valve lapping.
Great video. I'm now having a problem with my 2015 F10 and a 135808 code. I have to see if I can command the motor with my scanner to see if it's really failed, but I'm preparing for a motor change out.
Thanks Jesse, 135808 - Valvetronic servomotor position sensors, electrical: Malfunction. This very well may be a bad valvetronic motor. One thing to check as well...with the valve cover off inspect the mating surface of the gear to the eccentric shaft. Often the BMW test plan will instruct a tech to replace BOTH items. The reason is, the new motor often will bind on the old shaft. I have seen it may times. If you do just put a motor on it, test it first. Disable the fuel system, install the new motor, plug it in with the valve cover off and cycle the key on (not start just key on) and see if it does a good sweep. It should self test and run to its end stops. Do this a few times watching for binding. If it is biding, replace the eccentric shaft as well.
This video is amazing and explained incredibly thoroughly. The only question I still have is I purchased my car second hand (also a BMW) and it seems like the previous owner slapped on new pads but didn't change the rotor. When I did measurements myself, the rotors are already below the minimum thickness (the lip is pretty pronounced and the pads seem like they are 6/8ths worn. My question is if there is anyway to know if I should replace my rotor in that scenario (what if the rotor was already well below the minimum and then the previous owner put on new pads). Will I suddenly encounter a scenario where I just can't brake at all or will there be obvious signs before that happens? I asked my dealership this question and the service advisor said no need to change my rotors but he and the technician only looked at the brake pad not the rotor measurements. Apart from that, I still get a strong brake under high speed, no wobble, however I am hearing a lot of that low rotor thickness screech when im stopping.
Hello Sueddo, Thank you! I am glad the video was informative. You do have a unique situation. If the brake pads where installed below the min thickness it would be advisable to replace the pads and rotors. But since there is no way to know, you have to do what feels right for you. Having a deep lip is not uncommon. If the brakes are still stopping strong, you could decide to wait until the pads are a bit lower. But for safety reasons, I would recommend changing them out. Better to be safe.
Hello, Sorry to hear you have an issue with your vehicle. This would be reset the service indicator. It may be that you have a stuck caliper or the brake installation was not correct. I would inspect the vehicle and disassemble the brakes to find the failure.
@@AskTheCarExperts it ended up being an object or something was stuck. After a few hours the noise went away and the car is fine. Going to take it tomorrow to have the brake checked though.
Transfer case issues are definitely nothing new to BMWs. But many have no issues. My X5 at 150k is still good. Many times the issue is from improper tire circumference.
I hate fighting things in cramped spaces. I think i had removed the wiper arms, the cowl, everything that was annoying me. The first time I did it, was on a N52 E90 and i was fighting to get it off. I eventually did get tbe cover out but it took too long. The second time, I removed the brackets, cowl, wipers and it went so well. The idea is that you don't want risk the gasket not sitting right. It happened to me on a Mercedes that I did the valve cover and it was a pain. When I got it back together and it was leaking still, I was so upset. I took off the gasket, used window glue to hold it straight and put it back on and sent it 😂. It never leaked again.
@@AskTheCarExperts my wife always makes fun of my time estimation skills. I say the car will be ready in 2 hours. Knowing my luck, something goes terribly wrong and takes 4 to 6 days 😂
I have a problem with the top screw of this handle. It just keeps spinning in place, wont come out and wont tighten anymore like the thread would be damaged. Dont know what to do
Roger,What an excellent vid! Just straight to the point with everything! We released a portable air pump. Are you interested in giving a review? We have reached out for an inquiry.
Wow!! Thank you so much for showing this video it’s really helpful and inspiring definitely 💯 you do my life more easily. You explained everything with detail and clearly thank you again!!!
Hi,i changed rim size from 20 to 22 inch of my bmw x5m f85.and transfer case shuddering happens.i run 295/30 22 with 335/25 22inch tyres.someone told me to change front tyre size to 285/30 with 335/25. What would you suggest? I want to run with 22 inch rims. But i dont want my transfer case shudders and slips. But i didnt use after this problem maximum 250 km.reset of transfer case without oil change is helpful?? Bmw is on 70000km.
Sorry to say that changing tire size like this can lead to transfer case failure. I have seen it many times. I would recommend going back to the stock tire sizes and rims and maybe the fluid change will help. Damage to the transfer case can result if not and replacement will be needed.
Hi Oncle, it is possible to build an own wiring harness to light up front fog lights that are missing as stock fabrik? I mean is there a route between glove compartment and Lcm module to run a wire ? Thank you in advance - Hope will get an answer.
Any modification is possible with the right motivation. I don't see how you would get the LCM to power it unless you borrowed power and ground and added a separate switch to activate the circuit. And you would need to run new wires to them.
@@AskTheCarExperts thanks so much I forgot to mention that my car is already equipped with rear fog lights that work normally. Now I have a doubt: it says on the original BMW post-assembly instructions:"If the specified PIN chambers are occupied, bridges, double crimps or twin-lead terminals must be used." At this point what is the best path to follow? I went to the BMW dealer yesterday afternoon to ask about the front cable kit and unfortunately they told me that it is out of production and they don't have it available in warehouses. Thanks again in advance. Umberto
Great video!. Are the pads A-Premium too?, I would like to know how this pads and rotors have been working so far, I will change the rotors of my car soon, Actually I have OEM rotors with Brembo ceramic pads and those have crystallized 3 times in 6 months and are really noisy. I'm considering A-Premium drilled brake rotors instead of basic Brembo rotors. Do you think it's worth it?
Hi Jorge, So far my brakes are holding up great but they are not the Brembo style on my X5. Brake noise is very common on sport brakes unfortunately. The only noise I get is after a rain, and in reverse out of my driveway. But to me that is a normal noise that cleans up after I drive off.
Hello, Thanks bud! Yes, this would normally be done with the engine still installed. I don't own a BMW with the N20 at this time but I did have an engine swap on hand to make the video.
Simply an excellent video. You explained all the angels. Reinstalling the final cover it goes in nearly flat, passenger side a little first, so the two tabs go into the slots on the cover. Lots of light shining into the dark places helps. Thanks so much for this you made it easy.
No quite sure what component is the longitudinal torque module? Do you have a part number for that? Unless you mean the transfer case motor module. I cannot say I have replaced one on a newer BMW. I would have to say the motor module is normally not the failure. Unless you have some odd VIP ICM Steering failures which can bring down the FlexRay Bus. That can be caused the this module. But not this symptom.
After seen your video I have check the voltage on the battery and then on the front but on multimeter it was -0.08 and then realize the cables might be cut and on the back notice that one of the cables was lose. So I manage to start the car now. Just to mention my car only had a click sound when I tried to started. Thanks Bro
WOW! 🤯. Okay, now I know🤔! Thanks for the video great information. I had absolutely no clue about the vent valve? 😮. I guess that’s a good reason to keep them under the hood huh? 🤔 Great info! The trim alone takes a “course” to disassemble argh 😣. I just subbed, keep em coming especially the E93 “M” content! 😊
