Surprised you'd highlight Ottawa there when a Hurricanes team that had none of those high ranked picks Ottawa had, not even a single first round pick, exited Vegas with Badinka, Artamonov, Siryatsky, Fransen & Poirier.
Guys nobody talks about this.. but the Demidov pick was great not only for the quality of the player we got.. I feel like it bought back the unfair pressure that was placed on Reinbacher to live up to the production of a Michkov. This will allow space for Reinbacher to do his own thing as a RHD, at his own pace. The most underrated impact of this selection IMO.
Giving the facts that one, we wouldn't have had a shot at Levshunov who in my opinion is the only right shot defenseman who was superior or equivalent to Reinbacher in this year's draft, two that he's a year older hence closer to maturity and that fits our timeline better, and 3rd that Demidov is most likely a better overall player than Michkov....id say all that makes it the best possible outcome out of both drafts
Interestingly, Habs current centres and future prospects at centre are all right-handed i.e. Suzuki, Dach, Evans, Beck, Kapanen, Hage & Koivu. Exclude Dvorak (leftie) as he will be gone and Newhook (leftie) probably plays on the wing. Having no left-handed centres could be a concern but other than that our depth at centre is impressive.
That is like 3 years in a row (at least since I’ve been following) Grant has been very very accurate with the draft order Sennecke was an amazing riser great job as always Grant and Shayne🤙🍻
Chicago needed defence, honestly not sure why the ducks passed on him and Columbus has a terrible time with Russians they can never seem resign them so they picked a western Canadian kid who are pretty loyal which is why the Flames consistently pick out the WHL. But you also should factor in how well each team retain players because that does factor into these picks as well. Obviously being habs fans there are not a lot of players who would decline to play for them (if they are good) but other teams still struggle to retain players even when they a good team.
@@Whatdoingdog44Word is that Verbeek doesn't like to draft russians, maybe outside of Mintyukov since he was playing in Canada. Also almost every single young guys they have are left handed so i think the fact thay Sennecke is a right shot played a big role
I totally agree that Sennecke is going to be a superstar. This said, with Demigod and Hages, we landed a future Kucherov and a second Suzuki. Good job Habs! It's about time!
Honestly kinda feel like Shane is talking about the sphere over and over just to piss off grant we’ve heard it’s amazing for probably at least 5m of the last two episodes.
Super stoked about the 2 first round picks for us, wow. I can't believe we got Demidov, I'm pleased with the Hage pick also. He should be a good NHL player someday. Good show fellas! Go Habs Go!
He is my main reference so far in terms of prospects! Thats why I won't be surprised if Sennecke becomes a points producer beast! Especially knowing that Anaheim is one of the best teams in terms of drafting dating back to Getzlaf and Perry
Grant is a real curmudgeon, can’t even hear Levushunov’s name without throwing a hissy fit lol. All he was trying to say was he had personality when he met him. Lighten up.
It makes me laugh when I hear talk about Russian players not coming over to develop in NHL systems. These Russian players are top rated and spent their entire life in Russia to become that top rated player so idk wtf people are talking about. I would not trade Matheson ...EVER he is an amazing player on a really bad team that would only get even better if we had better players to surround him.Harris/Barron are not good enough and imo neither have much trade value.
I think it’s more about acclimating to the North American game and ice surface than worries about their skill development. It’s not just about Russians, but all Euro players. There’s an adjustment period; having them play in the CHL, NCAA, and AHL helps.
I don't know how much more I am willing to watch this channel with having to listen to Grant and his failed scout's opinion as well as his abusive, ego driven antics
Just the thought of Levshunov makes Grant get sassy and I don't blame him.. I don't care if he's the nicest guy ever he looks so casual and nonchalant in every game I've watched of his. As a Billy Basement please lord don't take Levshunov.
