That did Jack shit instead of pulling up clear, it pulled up some other APN something code, and then went right back to showing the wrench. So that's a useless way to reset it clearly doesn't work.Tried it fifteen times waste my fucking time
I found pulling it out was the easy part. I had to make modifications to put it back in. I was successful and it works but I don’t think I do it again. Taken it out. Definitely was easier than putting it back.
Thanks so much for this, after about 8 hours I have finally managed to complete it😅 Absolute nightmare to be honest but saved me a fortune. I couldn’t afford for the garage to do it. Just 45 quid for a replacement blower. My tip would be to remove the drivers seat to allow space to lie flat. Only held on by 4 star head bolts. Also need to disconnect the seatbelt pretensioner cable on the floor at the front of the drivers seat.
Great video. I did Wince when you got under the car with only the car holding it up though. I can't do that. Too many thoughts of my head exploding like a squashed water melon. I use a wooden chock to make up the jack myself.
Thank you so much for this! I've just bought a 2007 Outlander with the same engine with 250K kilometer on the clock, no rust at all and I just fixed some coolant leaks and now everything just works! But I've been dreading a turbo failure due to the position of the thing in the engine bay ,and I was afraid I had to lower the entire engine..
I've just replaced the fan/blower in my wife's Giulietta thanks to your videos and also Cran Swil. I found getting the old fan out and the replacement in was very hard because of the tight space. Also re-joining the plastic cover onto the fan in that confined space was incredibly hard. However perseverance paid off and I finally got everything back together. The whole thing took me about 7 hours over 2 days and when I turned the fan on it runs well up to half speed then it starts to make a loud vibrating noise like cardboard in a bicycle wheel. I may have damaged a fan blade during the install but I'm not going to take it back out to see. Anyway I have saved £800 which is what I was quoted for labour to remove the dash and fit the fan, so big thanks to your video and also to Cran Swil.
Lucky me - I fixed mine without full strip down - I just removed the side plastic panel and exposed the motor fan by removing the pollen filter, then gave it a poke. My pollen filter had lots of leaves in there- so I turned on the blower and poked a long screwdriver around and bingo - fan started - a few more leaves blew out. So if you’re lucky like me and try this instead of the full strip down- you could save yourself a load of time- having said that, this is a fantastic guide - if mine goes wrong again - I will poke it once more - no way am I going to try this - despite the video's brilliance - it looks like a day of frustration or more and I'm not that agile - having said that I would take the seat out and lay flat and consider removing the clutch pedal as that looks very hard with it held down
Hello, my name is Faisal and I watched your video and I'm impressed. I an Alfa Romeo Julietta 2012. Could you please help how to get a second hand heater blower I meant how to find the right for my car. Many thanks Faisal
Just done this job myself, Thanks for the detailed video. I ordered a new fan from Alfa shop, there were none second hand about, loads were cheaper on the net but I was worried about having to do the job twice or not being able to access screws etc on a non gen part. As it was, the new fan cover had two screws holding it to the motor as opposed to the original having the three that you've shown. Both were accessible but very difficult to line up the cover with the screw holes in the motor frame. This was probably the hardest part of the job, closely followed by getting the old fan out and the new one in without damaging it. The whole job took about 5 hours with a few cuppas to stretch out, calm down and physc up for another round of contortion, blind challenge and perseverance. It's really not a complicated job, just awkward, Expect that and you'll be fine. Only tip would be to cut a small piece of wood to wedge the clutch pedal back, get a small bendy magnetic torch, my 18v work light was far too big and couldn't angle it to see anything other than blinding myself. I noted that there is a clip on the fan housing at the top of the 'hole' that needs pushing upwards to allow you to rotate/ unlock the motor and fan to remove it from the housing. All the best to anyone having a go at this, give your self plenty of time ie Sat morning and don't expect to complete quickly or have the pressure of needing the car. My fan had gone stiff which I was able to diagnose through the resistor hole with a screwdriver before ordering parts or embarking on the challenge. The resistor didn't need changing, but this is an easy job without the need for much / any disassembly. One other point is when you put it all back together it will throw up some faults. This is to do with the steering position I think. Start the engine turn full left lock, full right lock, full left lock and it will clear the faults. Oh , I done it all with the batt disconnected to ensure I didn't mess anything up or have the airbag explode in my face! Good luck and thankyou! £200 spent, £1000 saved!!!!
Hi Bud thanks for the video. Its the only one i could find on this job this car. Can you tell me if you had to remove all the studs before it would move. Mine won't budge. Also the band the holds the turbo to the exhaust swirl chamber wont let go. Ive undone all nine fixings but its not evev rattling? Thanks
@@Brazill253 in the video you can see where the plug is for the fan . I have reached with my hand and turned the fan on from the control with the plug out and i have plugged it back in whilst it was on . The fan started working after that and it still works after a couple of months. If i wouldn’t done that would have had to take it to a garage . Give it a try it might save you some money.
Was the center bolt a different size torx than a T27? I have taken all the outer bolts out, even the bottom one, and I cannot seem to connect with the bolt in the center hole
Hmm... Wait is this because its an english car? Because I just need to remove a side plate, and the bottom of the glove compartment. And im there... No screws. No screwing around haha
Very well explained, thank you for that! Need an advice thou ... if the variable geometry gets stuck form time to time, will some cans of EGR/throttle/etc cleaners solve it? I really don't want to strip it down. Mainly, the reason for this mishap it's due to the PCV membrane that failed and let oily carter gases into the admission, and clogged up the turbo. Thanks!
you my friend are an absolute life saver. I can see why no garage would tackle this for under a grand. What an absolutely moronic cost saving design. I thought changing the cabin filter was horrible, but this tops it by a country mile. GG Alfa, nice going. You are a monster mechanic, I watched all your Alfa videos, helped a lot with mine. Thanks for taking the time to document all of your work.
Managed to change the Heater Fan finaly. Thanks to Super Litte Mechanics inspiration and Tony Vialetto's instrument removal video of steering trim. I've created a few videos detaling the stages which i found hard, which alongside these videos should help other Alfa Drivers to be able to change them too . Have uploaded 3 parts today. But should be able to get the tips section up for stage 4 later this week. Oh and the end result of course to find out if it actually works. Hopefully it's of some use to people out there. It's nice to be able to help others to save money too as other people on You tube have helped me to do too. ru-vid.com/group/PLyiEvFwJS1N7jNYMJnLnT9LFdqrX7vIWL
Thanks for this about to do same Job , Quick Hint for everyone else, I was able to ALL the fuel out, ( and into my other car ) using a really cheap ebay fuel pump, and there really easy access point to the fuel bleed point in engine bay ( looks like a tyre valve ). this helped me with bleeding ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t04ojy2297I.html
Crucial Helpful additions : first thanks for a great video!!! A few key need to knows and one question : first, I stuck my finger through the regulator hole, wiggled the jammed fan and its now fine but no idea how long it will last. This avoids taking out the steering etc, just remove the one panel on side of tunnel etc. Second, I did try to remove the motor, and used a 68cm long broom handle or offcut wedged the clutch down against the front of the inboard seat runner. Third, I had to undo 4 13mil bolts to remove the column, not 2. Fourth, I got sick of the 6mil bolt on the blower motor and stuck a screwdriver under the plastic bit it retains and snapped it off - lovely. 5th, after doing all that (column out etc etc), the motor still wouldn't rotate like a light bulb - the 6mil bracket was fully gone, and i suspect there's a plastic tab to be pushed or pulled before it's allowed to rotate - anyone???. I
Thank you for the video! I have a Suzuki SX4 2.0 DDIS 2011 4x4, same engine as Fiat Sedici. I have the same problem on it and Suzuki sells the block EGR for 1200 € excl taxes!!!! On the original part is written the same serial number and ref. Do you know it could be remplaced with the Fiat ref? Thank you in advance
Hi guys @everyone I have the P0299 underboost on this engine not long had the motor but drive it for 10 min then goes into limp mode caused by the underboost any pointers for starting at the turbo has no noise and moves freely also
Remember watching thrse great videos from you 3years ago. Was so sad seeing that guy in wrong lane cutting across in front of you at dual carriageway roundabout. Bet he tried to get off with it as well as we're no painted arrow markings on road. I loved the stuff you did on clips on other videos was fascinating. I think this is too tough for me if I need to do it. But your video will certainly reduce the cost for our mechanic friend to do it. Shame you have no new content you were such a natural. All in one take as well. Amazing
Great video. My G has heating problem slightly different. When I select hot air on driver side dial/ vents say 26 deegree it does blow warm air only surely not jot, however passanger side temp/vents also selected on 26 blows they blow ice cold. Would it be mixer motors or something else, if so are they built in within whole blower motor assembly or could be removed a bit easier? Thanks in advance.
haven't serviced one of these yet. will be soon. where the oil filter is I had this with a vauxhall astra 20 litre diesel. I used a low profile impact socket with hole either side and used a small screwdriver to undo it. gutted I could torque it up to spec tho.
Hello, I have a quick question if you remember, I need to replace my heater matrix, stripping out the fan like this, does it give access to the heater matrix? Thanks Greg
Thank you for posting this. It gave me the confidence to try and fix a friends Giulietta and today I finally got it all back together. It is a painful job, mostly done with your fingertips through that tiny gap between the clutch pedal and the heater box. It took me an entire day to figure out the proper orientation for the new fan to go in with its cover part hanging by the wire, then re-unite both parts with my fingertips completely blind.. Wouldn’t have done it without this video guide, thanks again.
Yeah I'm at this stage i can't get the lid on! Really stuck! Just had an hour at it! WHen i put the fan in without the lid it goes in the hole. But it drops down. SO then seems impossible to get lid on. Then if you try and pull the fan out further i can't get the pressure or angle to get it on! But don't see how to get it pushed on. I've kept the wire attached. Is there any tip? How far out of the hole should it be when you push it on
