It would never enter my mind to try and figure out where these spots are and go hunt there. I don’t understand the people that would! Is there no sportsmanship anymore?

Going in in an hour or2 from now watching and refreshing the brain. Totally new area... I haven't seen a deer while hunting the last 4 yrs. Hopefully that will change today. Thanks for these lessons!!!

I noticed you're not in full camo or a ghillie suit. Can you really get into range with blue jeans and baseball cap?

Yes Absolutely doable, silence and body oder play a bigger role than camo.

i just planted a droff apple it about 5 ft. i want to keep it about 7 ft total. should i start toping/pruning when it gets 7 ft or should i give it one year before i start cutting back.
@SeedstoDreamsDeer
@SeedstoDreamsDeer Месяц назад
I would give it a year and then prune it back for shape. The stouter growth will make for a better tree.

It’s funny how almost all river bottoms in this country are very similar I am from east Idaho and our whitetail population is concentrated around our river bottoms and they look just like this I compare whitetail hunting to Vietnam and the deer are Charlie and we’re the US Troops they cut very tiny holes thru the think vegetation just like in Vietnam

As a beginner hunter, This video in particular really put into perspective the foundational knowledge I needed to understand how to traverse through the woods. Most videos i watched could not express the intricacies of still hunting through the woods, i would watch them and not understand the goal until I found this specific video. I come back to it often because it is the only one that explains hunting for the absolute begginer. Your teaching style and your ability to simply is what we need in the hunting community please comeback and make more videos.

Great info...subscribed! I have been trying to scout public land and swamp areas and it seems that every time I find what I think is a honey hole there is already a stand there. How far from other stands until you consider you are off the pressure from that area? Are you finding more hunters getting out into these areas with the popularity of content online such as what you are putting out there?

Thanks so much for your information on what to feed the deer in the winter. I had been feeding them apples and bird seed for the last 2 winters. I found out a few weeks ago, that these are harmful to deer in the winter because their digestive systems change in the winter to accommodate the change in their diet. I have stopped doing that. I came to RU-vid hoping to find info. on what is safe to feed deer in the winter. We have an unpruned apple tree and a red maple on our property, so I'm going to use your good advice on how to cut the branches for the deer. I live in beautiful western NY, too. Thanks again for the good advice.

You "assumed" the mother abandoned the fawn. Was that to ease your conscience for sending that baby out to die starving and alone ? The mother could have died or been killed at least a dozen different ways for all you know. Real men/hunters would never let a sick or wounded animal suffer the way you let that poor fawn suffer and likely die. Yes, nature can be cruel and baby animals die every day in the wild . That's part of life but in this case you could have either tried to help or if you really thought the fawn was beyond help you could have been a decent human being and put it out of it's misery and "then" let nature take care of the rest. What you did was absolutely cruel and inhumane. I guess you can look on the bright side - you'll make a few bucks from a couple of youtube videos.

This was amazing. Im lucky enough to have 65 of my own acres in western part of NYS (Steuben County) . I never scouted for mature buck beds but now i damn sure will. What months would you say are the best to do it in to get an idea where they will be come hunting season?

Thank you for the #UMMazing video. The 5 Step is a simple strategy! Yesterday, I sat for three hours in sub-freezing temperature, and I almost froze! I could’ve been doing the 5 Step to help stay warm…moving! Your comment about sitting for hours or doing the 5 Step really resonated with me…thanks again! Happy Christmas 2023! 🧡🎯🦌🎄

going out tomorrow, 3rd hunt ever! going to be windy, 15-30 mph from the N and working a swamp/river area with open grass lands scattered. Cold day in Central Florida as well around 50 in the morning, same with Thursday but 45 in the morning. Going to be doing the 5 step with the zigzag! Wish me luck!

I likes this a lot. It would have helped if I knew how far/how long it took you to get there. It seems okay for an afternoon sit, but not for a morning one *hard to get to. I am a lifelong public land hunter of deer, The best part is you talking about scouting DURING the season. It led to many of next season deer for me.

Nov 15th is peak in Michigan also which is opening day of gun. It's extremely heavy pressured hunting. literally a vehicle parked every quarter mile down the side of every road was someone an orange. Its nothing to sit and see 3 other people in orange 200- 300 yrds away. I even go deep sex Into the Woods, On average I go about 800 yd off any road to go hunting just to get away from the people. But I get out early well before any other hunters and stay there all day So I don't have to walk by other hunters on my way out until after dark. Currently have antler restrictions for bucks. 3 or more on one side and 2nd has to be 4 or more on one side and I have 3 Doe tags, so 5 deer I can shoot. I usually take 2 or 3 and always have left over tags. Could fill them but by the time I get 3 that is good enough for me. You can buy up to 7 Doe tags per person which is crazy they are trying to eliminate the deer herd.

I am doing my best to learn to be a good hunter and the detail you put into these videos is incredible!
