I used to travel on this as a boy in the '40s. It was steam at that time and , if I remember rightly, there was a loco at the front and a driving cab at the rear. There was no turntable so the train had to run backwards on one of its trips. The driver could drive the train from the cab at the rear (which became the front) by some system of levers linking the loco and the cab. Some time ago I read that the new train was driven by a 'super flywheel' which was energized at the end of each trip. Is this true?
@@何家豪-i5m I would like to but opportunities to travel are limited due to coronavirus restrictions and recommendations here. I would like to film more when it is safe to do so. I have footage from a trip I made a few years ago that I could edit in in the meantime though....
The layby for the trams by the Corrie set is designed for stabling extra trams when there are events at Old Trafford. This way a tram can serve Wharfside every 3 minutes. There are also some near the Asda in Sportcity by the Etihad. The trams will drive from Imperial War Museum on the left track, past the siding, then the driver would switch cabs and drive into the siding. When needed, the driver will drive forward out of the siding onto the left track approaching Imperial War Museum and onto Wharfside. The Village name is an homage to the village centre that was built here for workers when the land of Trafford Park sold/gifted by the De Trafford family for use as industrial land. There are some shops, cafes, and small businesses just off Village Parkway across from the Village tram stop
I'm planning to do the same in the following months! Are you registered on the tubechellenge forum? It seems no one administers that anymore and they doesn't acceping my registration or answering to anything.
Great video! I'll be doing this over Easter and posting a video on my channel as well. I'm also going to do all the West Midlands Metro stops (bit boring though as it's only one line!)
Hi, I've had an idea of all the metrolink stations as I'm from the local area. May I ask what time you got, as I might be doing all the stops in August raising money for a charity with my friends. Top Tip: if your think your gonna miss a tram just run. Lol
