The branch line between Stourbridge Junction and Stourbridge Town is thought to be the shortest in Europe at a distance of 0.8 miles or 1.3km. Nowadays it has a very frequent service operated by a Class 139 Parry People Mover, which takes only three minutes to travel between the two stations.
Watch my driver's eye video for this line here:

It would make perfect sense for this to become an extension of the West Midlands Metro line to Dudley.

I never knew this existed. Thank you for sharing it, and a well though out articulate presentation.

Someone must have sold their Fiat Multipla to the local rail operator.

I used to travel on this as a boy in the '40s. It was steam at that time and , if I remember rightly, there was a loco at the front and a driving cab at the rear. There was no turntable so the train had to run backwards on one of its trips. The driver could drive the train from the cab at the rear (which became the front) by some system of levers linking the loco and the cab. Some time ago I read that the new train was driven by a 'super flywheel' which was energized at the end of each trip. Is this true?
