Photography has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. I've taught the art of photography to thousands of students, over the last two decades, and I'm just getting started.
Made the same switch a few weeks ago. There’s a lot I like about the X-T5 but the focusing is definitely not one of them. The Zf is far more consistent and predictable with focus and I’m really happy with the iso performance as well. I’d definitely like a few more customizable buttons and slightly better ergonomics but all in all I don’t regret the switch at all.
Great video! I love that you are able to use those old lenses and it makes sense to use them with the full frame system to get the best out of them. Great photos as always! Nikon colors are terrific. I think I'm drawn to Fuji because their colors are not quite as contrasty and saturated or something. Hard to say what' the draw is but definitely just a matter of personal preference, not one being better than the other.
You are not alone in trying to give OM Systems OM-1 a bad rap. You do, grudgingly, concede that it works, but your overall tone is that: "You need to find another camera", and workout more to be able to carry it. I find this rather sad -- for you. Have fun with chasing your multi-gigapixel cameras, because next week, they will inevitably come out with one with even more resolution, and then you will be chasing after that. Good luck with your journey.
Hey, man. Why so bitter? Lower megapixels are great for most people, but my job is currently to photograph and print large photos for murals - 10 feet by 50, 60 and sometimes longer. It's just one of those things - for you, that's great, but belittling others on the internet? I think you should be sad for yourself.
@@JerredZ I'm quite sure that my Wedding clients will require 'murals' of EACH of the 1400-or-so pictures I take at their Wedding. ... NOT. I'm not bitter, apologies if you took it that way; but really, if all you shoot are 'murals', the why-oh-why do you feel compelled to 'review' m4/3?
I went to public school for 2 years and it’s pure hell. Many students are very disrespectful and mean to teachers, and it’s sad because there’s only so much teachers can do to defend themselves. I now transferred to private school and it’s very different here because everyone is king and respectful! I want to let public school teachers to do your best and don’t let the disrespectful students get to you and put you down! You are the reason why many students who care about you get a degree in college and get their education and graduation!
Grateful for this job, been doing it for 4 years. Has provided me with income and savings. I was recommended to do this job by family. Been telling the, about my struggles and how I want to quit and they just look at me in disgust and that I’m a quitter. “You got a good job, it’ll get easier.” Yeah when? Because it’s been 4 years and it gets harder every year.
The best part about Nikons colors are that they are good all round. Canon has good reds for shitty blues, Sony has great yellows but awful reds, Fuji has amazing greens but undersaturated everything else. Nikon is great everywhere.
I sold all my Fuji gear to buy a Nikon Z7 45mpx full frame. The colours to my eyes are superb. Slow autofocus is not a problem for my style of photography, indeed I enjoy manual focus primes to slow me down, to think more carefully. I recently received my Fuji X-100VI and I love using it. Without a lens hood it even fits in my jeans front pocket. I take it everywhere. If you want excellent manual focus lens with aperture rings for your Zf, take a look at Voightlander who make them with the Z mount.
I shoot Fuji X-T5 for family/travel and a Nikon Z8 for birds. It’s no contest, the Nikon AF is better, but the Fuji kit has a charm and is way more fun to use than the Nikon ever will be. Add to that, the Nikon FF gear is monstrously huge, I can’t fathom why anyone thinks it’s fun or necessary to carry that chunker around for casual shooting and travel.
Thanks my man! And again, my use case is in older, lighter manual lenses, so they are pretty small and light. Old manual lenses with Nikon (or other full frame cameras) just work like they are supposed to... so for me, manual lenses on Nikon is far more enjoyable. And Nikon does have a few like the 40/28/26 that are smaller and lighter - add in the adapter for Sony, and there's a ton more options there too. AND - it's not all huge. The 100-400 is about the same with Nikon and Fuji, and the 24-120 f/4 is small, light, and pretty incredible. Nikon prices are kind of nuts on their lenses though... that 100-400 is quite a bit more $$ than Fuji... all good though!
I'm noticing that as the professionals leave, school systems are hiring unqualified people now. My kids were all good. They had their problems, but if you talk with them, it works out. The problem was the political, unqualified administrators. And where I worked, they didn't like teachers. Probably because we were more educated. And the paperwork for the State. Don't get me started.
My trigger was a parent putting a complaint in because I used a big voice when reading " Jack and the Beanstalk " . My " Fee , fi , fo fum " apparently traumatised her daughter . Sigh .
I just finished watching this. This gives me hope. I’m standing on the edge of summer and not at all looking forward to going back to work. The admin, my fellow “professionals”, parents, students, it’s all stress and I don’t know how much more of it I can put myself through. I decided today that I am giving myself this school year as my last. If I can find a new career before then so be it, but I’m giving myself til the end of next summer to figure something out.
Im not sure how you guys get noticeable noise in the middle of the day, maybe its just how small your optics are? Or naybe the iso is being cranked up? I dont know, i use pretty large apertures like 128mm at f/5.5 and 114mm at f/4.3 so im not exactly lacking light.
Its not that they didnt care about ergonomics in old cameras its that people get too used to holding the thinnest, lightest things due to companies only making crap like that.
Okay, hear me out... How sick would it be to have film sims on Nikon based off of Kodak film stocks? If they obtained the rights to do so, that would be awesome and really pull people from Fuji.
Great photos you got! Not all is bad at Fuji! Have an X-T5 and had others before, even Nikon D750. I almost bought a ZF but after getting one at my hands I got confused. Why so big and heavy? Honestly... You have the Z6 from same manufacturer. And the controls on the ZF are really bad. You have 7 custom updatable banks on the X-T5 with very easy access. If you don't use M on the ZF, the controls do not make any sense. Why PSAM that removes the priority of the external dials? Flip out screen also difficult to understand on a mostly photo centric camera with great aids for manual lenses. Great looking and very well built. But it is like Nikon didn't want to get it right on their first iteration.
"excited volunteer" 😂😂😂 Really like your photography style. And looking forward for more Zf + various retro lenses combinations. (Wildlife would be nice too) Allow me to support (albeit with a very humble gesture😅) a new fellow nikon user by subscribing to this promising and positive channel. Best of luck!
My man! Thanks so much for your comment! I'll be doing more Nikon stuff in the future when I get more time! This fall I should be done traveling and all of that for the year, so I should be able to get back on a schedule. Thank you!
I am seriously considering selling my Fujifilm X-T4 and going all in on Nikon with the Zf. You're pushing me harder with this video. The problem I have is having so many nice lenses for my Fuji that I don't want to leave behind :(
They always threaten to take away your licensure, it’s like some fake power they think they have over you. The profession has no respect, no discipline and all the blame for Liberal societies failure.
I do art and photography now full time. It's amazing - but it has its struggles. The great thing though is that any struggle is self-imposed, and not mandated by the district! Much better for my mental health!
So correct about Fujifilm. I hung in there with them for a decade, buying each iteration and hoping that it would finally deliver in the AFC department. I missed so many shots over the years and their dynamic range for high ISO was woeful - anything over ISO 1,600 turned to custard (if you tried to pull up the shadows). For a pro shooting gigs and events, it was such a pain for so long. I swapped over two years ago to two Z6ii's and have never looked back. I love Nikon so much and their images are just gorgeous from the sensor and I have 6 of their wonderful Z lenses. I am so filthy at myself for scabbing it with Fuji for so long. wasting all the money on countless bodies and new lenses. I could have saved myself so much agony.
At 10:13 there is a boy about to skip a rock; is that a Nikon color profile? Or did you color-grade it? If a profile-which one? Thank you for this review I am still an xt-2 user who also loves vintage lenses and havee been toying with a jump to the Zf …you’ve made a good case 👍
