linus has some good feedback in these videos but a lot of the time it feels like his issues stem from trying to use a piece of hardware on linux, the hardware is strictly proprietary because its from an awful company who refuses to make it compatible or open source their software, and then blames linux for being bad. like maybe the problem isn't linux, maybe the problem is that you don't own your hardware.
Need to listen to the whole video but I first have a piece of what I hope will be taken as a constructive criticism - why, oh why are you resorting to holding your mic when you have a perfectly good stand? It's even in the frame and judging by chapter thumbs, you know how to use it 😉
I use Kubuntu on my 2nd pc system. I use Debian{12} w/ XFCE on a 3rd pc system to learn the commands and infrastructure of Linux. My main system has Win 10 for everyday use and stupid game use.
People who cry about Linux being hard whilst not trying remind me about people who say they can drive but they can only drive a Tesla Like no boy you can only move a battery toy not drive a real car 😂
"Progressive" linux commies are stasi and will end up biting off their own noses. I sit back and watch 🍿 Hopefully people who don't care for witch hunts and forced allyship etc will be able to continue doing what they enjoy without feeling forced to be allies or afraid that some unrelated thing in their lives ends up getting them booted from a project they volunteer their free time to. Idiocracy, syrupy bureaucracy.. What a joke
Hi, I'm new to Linux and right now I am testing Garuda Linux, which is Arch based and has, at least in my specific version a KDE Desktop. Comming from Windows 10 I wanted my window behavior the same as in Windows. But I failed to do so in one point: When maximizing a window, the title bar vanishes and everything in there goes into the task bar, no matter if the task bar is on top or bottom of the screen. Also the maximize, minimize and close buttons going in there as well. But when I delete those widgeds in the editing mode, the buttons and title bars just vanish when maximizing a window. Except for one program: Firefox. How can a get a normal maximize window behavior under KDE like in Win10?

Thank you for your effort but I think this is super finicky and convoluted for no good reason. Why can't we just use CSS or edit some config file to control these things?
Well, now that I am thoroughly depressed, I must thank you for making such an enlightening analysis of the fall of one of the voices of Linux. I watched a lot of the early Linux Sucks videos, but over time i forgot to watch the new ones. Lucky Me!
I saw lunduke fall off the earth after he paywalled his stuff. Sad downfall from someone who used to be one of the most respectable faces of the Linux community
Why is the Distro KDE neon that much laggy and feels overall draggy compare to the snappy Tuxedo OS? There is considerable lag and high CPU usage on KDE neon. It is noticeable.
I don't really like lunduke, buy turning the linux community into an echo box with strict censorship policies is not good either, you're just making the problem worse. The fact that you have strong political beliefs doesn't mean that we should forbbid political debate outside the leftist base values.
Honestly, I don't need a trigger warning before following a link to something from Lunduke. It is obvious that he has a perspective from the right wing. And that is perfectly fine. He represents those members of the tech industry that have to keep their political opinions under the radar of their company's DEI officers as they otherwise may be object to the leftist cancel culture. Brendan Eich at "We need more than deplatforming"-Mozilla or James Damore at Google come to my mind. Or this guy who was been excluded from a Linux conference because of unrelated photos of him with a MAGA hat.
Great video, you have a good handle on the subject. I got banned from reddit for saying that colombia has cocaine. They "AI" flagged me for sourcing. So this got elevated to human who said it was a mistake but the did not give me back my account.
theres a spectrum of linux users, and it goes from so-called apolitical, unhinged bigots, to catperson wokerati socialists. and i'm proud to be on the latter end. trans rights are human rights♥
I mean, Wikipedia should be avoided like the plague, just for the exact opposite reason he thinks. Wikipedia tends to have a liberal bias (liberal as in, the political ideology of liberalism). Most of my peers in socialist & anarchist oriented spaces do not agree with wikipedia on many topics.
Something that Vaxry doesn't seem to understand is that other people wont compartmentalize your life for you. It may seem unjust that he is being removed from one community/platform when the infringing action was on another community/platform, and to be honest, the power that gives to big communities/platforms over smaller ones is immense. It is still up to the individual/group weather they want to work with you or not, since anyone would find it insane to be forced to work with someone you don't want to work with (In this context). If he wants to be controversial without consequence, he has to make a separate identity all together. Then he has to do his due diligence to not let those identities get connected. It's a lot of work, but the possibility of that is what makes the internet so cool. The downside is that when you do that, you start fresh. None of the clout, friends, supporters, or history will follow you to that new identity, at least not without creating a tie, which defeats the purpose, or could even cause you damage down the line. He wants to have his cake and eat it too.
I've heard him claim things that were blatantly false as being true, so it's not a surprise to hear that he lies in less obvious ways. He has been so openly political during the time I've watched him as well. I have always been skeptical of what he says to a certain degree, and now I know that in a lot of cases, he was just full of it. I still disagree with you and your way of handling him though, the idea that someone should be censored because his ideas are dangerous is a bad one. Rather, he should be known, just known for what he is rather than what he tries to be. "Lunduke, the right wing linux guy". I also dislike the framing of this video. The catears, and theatrics done throughout are visually interesting, but combined with your openly apposing political views, it feels more like a leftist hit piece against a political opponent. I am very inclined to not trust you, despite all the times in the video where you claim that you're not politically motivated by giving examples of other creators. Honestly, I'm sure they are fine, but if I got a DM like the one you sent at 1:04:10 after talking about the things they talked about on that podcast, I may find it uncomfortable dealing with you as well. You missed the forest for the trees, and asked about stuff unrelated to what happened in the podcast. Maybe he knew all this about Lunduke already, and it's a less uncomfortable thing to say, but this subtle manipulation tactic going on to try and get people to stop talking to a guy has really bothered me throughout the latter half of this video. This whole "disappointment" thing you're doing feels really gross. I'm not him, and I can't speak for him, but the response may have sounded like a cop out because it may have actually been a cop out, maybe he just wanted 'you' to stop asking him about Lunduke. Despite what the anime pfp would imply, I don't actually completely disagree with your politics, I'm technically "on your side", I just enjoyed watching him because I like to have my opinions challenged so I can create better arguments, make distinctions, and change them to be better. What I'm trying to say is, I'm not politically motivated to take you down, I'm just giving my honest, slightly-bias, opinion on your video.
I confess I am disappointed by the misleading title and thumbnail. I was hoping to consider a profound technological concept as with Dylan Beattie's NDC talks. However I did finish the video, having gotten used to the idea that it is actually a political one. I have considered the argument, and I accuse this video of significant use of [Ad Hominem](en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem). While the argument is much better established than any in my own country's recent presidential debate (shamefully), I still come away with nothing to base a logical conclusion on. I find myself in the mind of Aristotle. Neither Lunduke's strategy of argument nor yours improves anything as far as I can tell. My understanding is that his inflammatory approach produces extremism on the one side, and your strategy of unfettered censorship begets extremism on the other. Is this not so? Like Brodie, I do like to consider all of the sides and use formal reasoning to draw my own conclusion. I do not understand your side, and so I would really like to see a followup to this video that demonstrates the benefits of censorship and why it's better than formal argument. With such a video I could begin weighing the three alternatives carefully. (Brutalism, censorship and argument.) Politics aside, I do sincerely appreciate all the work you do on my favorite Linux desktop environment. Thank you very much!
oh my god. i had been saying Lunduke was Nazi since 2015 people are just realizing it. He is a genuine Nazi brother, and he doesn't even try to hide to anymore. I've see him say Nazi shit irl and people made me fun of me back then.
I do not usually agree with either Woke or liberal videos (in fact, there are already some disagreements I have with your video) and I tend to steer far away from them like the plague, but in this case, you were actually spot-on about Lunduke's insanity and hypocrisy, particularly his sexist-to-misandric and ableist views and actions. He is somewhat right about the fate of Linux being in peril, however he himself is a terrible scum of a person. I am a politically independent centrist. Throughout the 2010s, I've bore the brunt of tolerating conservatives only out of circumstance rather than respect, back when their points did coincide with the reality of my life situations and experiences. Now, this is becoming less of the case and frankly, I am sick and tired of them. They have become as toxic as the alt-left were in the 2010s (and still are today), and their views are growing especially misandric, ableist, and transphobic by the year, especially this decade. Its like I am reliving the toxic 2000s again, where if I was being bullied - my sexual identity being shamed and defamed because I refused to be some pathetic sympazoid, cauckazoid, or a stupid sex-addict. In the 2000s, conservatives were my first political enemies, to the point that I've turned to liberalism, before they too showed their true colors and became another enemy in the 2010s, in which driven me to lean towards centrism. I am being reminded everyday why I became a misanthrope in the first place and why its is justified. Humanity is an embarrassment.
Deepin is great for newest computers, now we have Cosmic coming and too many interfaces to compete with Windows or MacOS. So I use myself deepin for high end computers, Linux mint mate for average and bodhi Linux with a Mac OS look for low end or 32 bits.
