The pork in layers of banana leaves is not raw. It is cured minced pork, hence it is a cooked pork product by means of curing, the same curing that pork goes through to become Prosciutto except Laos cured pork is minced pork and not a whole cut of pork leg quarter.
I wish those people you came across were more approachable and more hospitable. For example that middle aged guy should have gave u that hat with Kurdistan flag as a souvenir, rather than selling it to u. Any way hope you revisit Slemani 🤍again ..

I work closely with a colleague who originates from near Erbil. I can attest that they are truly the most hospitable, warm, and friendly people, despite what the press would have us believe. I have come to love the kubba, dolma, and amazing biryani curries that he makes for us all at work. Also, never play them at chess or backgammon!
not that friendly people. Portuguese Settlement is my hometown. I know every single person there as well as all of them. They are only friendly to people that are from overseas. They are nice people but not that nice
