My name is Adrian Weber and I have been interested in locks since my early childhood. I mainly collect padlocks but also all sorts of other locks such as high security mechanical locks and safe locks. A few years ago I decided to make a job out of my hobby by applying to courses at the VDS in Germany. Now I am a VDS and CFPA certified security adviser in "Security" and "Security Management", furthermore I am also VDS certified in "Safe and Vault Room Constructions". Since then I have worked together with several international security companies in product research and development.
In this channel I mainly present information on various security solutions but also analysing and reviewing high security solutions as well as housing security. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
Understanding not only the mechanical aspects of locks but also their history is essential for understanding security itself!
@@AdrianWeber no worries. I will be making a video on some of the products from pragmasis soon. They are some of the safest locks and chains money can buy.
Those Abus locks are absolute crap. I bought a brand new abus titanium pad lock and locked my log splitter with it. Now I need to use the splitter and the lock wont open. It took me hours to open it. The aluminium had corroded. Junk.

Hello, I want to buy this type. How can I do that? I want your help. It is important. Where can I buy it? Can you help me? Thank you very much. I await your response.
Hey AJ, there are various online shops where you can buy Stealthkey within Europe. However you will have to check with them if they ship to other countries like the U.S. for example as well! Just google it and I am sure you will find a supplier :) best wishes, Adrian
The Brass Body stainless Steel Shackle was common by Transformer Towers in Germany to secure the Entrance Doors from outside. Original painted in light grey
Hey mcarch, civilians can sadly not this particular type of lock... As far as I know Assa Abloy only peoduces those for the military. If you are lucky you can find one of these on eBay from time to time :)
@@sgtusmcarch Hey Mc Arch, it is a lock exclusively sold to the military back in they day... You will have to look on Ebay and wait until it shows up I am afraid. Hope that helps anyway :)
@@Orgelfan62 Danke Orgelfan :) ich würde gerne weiter Videos machen aber bin derzeit beruflich so sehr eingebunden, dass ich einfach nicht dazu komme...
nice, thx for this unique view into this padlock! it's currently my picking-challenge and I was not able to pick it yet. Knowing more about the internals might make it easier 😊
@@AdrianWeber no probably I won't ever - I'm trying to pick this thing when watching TV and I already put many many hours into it lol One single time I got it into false-gates ...
I’ve had two of those fitted for 10 years or so. Today i removed them and it was scarily easy to do. Took around 10 seconds with no power tools. The fixings in the floor remained but the anchor itself snapped off. And yes I took a video too
Hey Dom, I am really sorry to hear that.... I would go for a "securityforbike" anchor nowaday instead of this one! Thanks for you comment buddy! Adrian
I broke mine yesterday. 30 years old padlock from the time when I was at school. Left it fall on the ground in front of the locker at the gym. It was open and something broke inside . I feel like I've just lost an old friend.
Hey Hype, I am rally sorry to hear that man and can really understand you :( but you can look on Ebay for a "new old" one, they show up from time to time! Hope that helps buddy, Adrian
It's not rust, it's grease for protecting it from moisture! I've had exactly the same on an expensive Mountain bike (Whyte prst1), on the suspension screw joints.
Hey Vision, there is no better in this case. Both are on the same level when it comes to security. I like the built quality of the Torc Ground Anchor a bit better but that's it. Best wishes, Adrian
@@AdrianWeber Okay great thanks Adrian. I was leaning towards Pragmasis for both chain and anchor. I've contacted them previously and they've been really helpful. BTW Why haven't you uploaded any new videos in over a year?
Have you reviewed the Abus Granit Extreme 59 D lock? I'm wondering how best to use this to lock my two road bikes with Pragmasis Torc anchor and 16mm chain at home.
Hello, i have been looking all over for a good quality gym padlock. I saw your video on the one I had my eyes on Abloy Protec2 PL 321 Padlock but it doesn't see that safe. Do you have any recommendation? The price point doesn't matter. I just want to be able to leave my stuff for 2 hours safe at the gym or the pool. I Just want it to be such a hassle that a thief moves to easier picking. I know the perfect lock doesn't exist even more for gym locker locks who don't allow for thick shackle.
Hey Tea Time, yeah sure I would recommend to go for the Assa Abloy PL330 with the Protec2 core. It has an 8mm shackle which should fit through the hinge of your gym locker and will be much more secure than all the other locks used on the other lockers. Meaning you should be fine with that one ;) Please check if the hinge of your gym locker allows a shackle thickness of 8mm and if not I would go for the PL321. Best wishes, Adrian
Considering the complexity of this lock, the KESO 8000 Omega2, which is the newer version of this, must be twice as secure as this one. They definitely seem like very secure locks. I am thinking about putting one in an Anchor Las padlock.
Hey Stephen, the KESO 8000 Omega 2 isn't that much diffenent then the 4000 Omega to be honest with you. They even cut it on the same machine :) however the lock body and the modular system they actually did change and also the Omega Pin was changed slightly (I have to do a video about that once I find the time...). The big step was between the 2000 System and the 4000, the 2000 was available with and without Omega Pin where as the 4000 was only available with the interactive Omega pin and also with a different pin allignment and therefore also different cuts as well.
So I buy a 19 lb. bike to get a lightweight ride and add a huge 6.5 lb. U Lock and chain? No way that would work defeating the purpose of a fast bike. Keep it around 3 lbs. max and position the shackle behind the chain ring with the lock under the bottom bracket pointed down. This makes it much more difficult to get a bolt cutter or saw to defeat the lock.
Hey hornet, I never said that this lock for lightweight race bikers, I just said that it is a decent and secure bike lock to use ;) whether you want to use that extra weight depends only on your personal choice... oh and maybe the price of your bike and you not wanting to lose it :)
Great collection piece I have been fortunate enough th receive a few Union padlocks over my time in locksport. My first cam from Stu (Madhatter on youtube) a true gentleman! Hope all is well Adrian 🙏
Mur! Buddy how are you doing? I am "ok" too many things to do at work but besides that I am alright :) never complain about too much work right? Yeah those Union padlocks were really well made!
I like the design and looks of this lock. I looked on eBay for one, but did not find one that looks like this one. Are you interested in selling the lock you used in this video?
