As an old guy with three kids your daughter will always need you. Good luck with your new job. As a 20 year seller this is probably the worst its been in terms of profit. You can always go back full time if you choose. Glad you are continuing on RU-vid, I enjoy watching your videos.
I am SO Excited for you and your new job! Its Wonderful that you still get to take your daughter to school too. I hope your new supervisor and co-workers are as Fantastic as mine. God leads you to where you need to be in life. I look forward to your upcoming videos as you can talk to sellers who also have a regular job, how to make time to create new listings etc. You are a fountain of information. Good Luck!! I will keep coming back to check for new videos and shorts. Keeping my subscription too. 💕✝
Ps. I didn't mention promoted listings. It's killing profit margins and has become very expensive. The new algorithm has slowed sales to a crawl. I haven't had a sale in 8 days. But when I get a sale for $24.99 my take is $12.95 after promoted fees. I can't justify sourcing even at a dollar to $5 four items to put on the site. Take the pictures, item specifics and so on are very time consuming. You're working for less than minimum wage at that point. Here again big boy creators will tell you you're not doing it right. Whatever! I don't source out of warehouses selling coffee pots for $3. And I've also looked at the comps on coffee pots that these guys are boasting selling on the site for $15.97. these are large items with huge shipping cost. It doesn't make sense. Especially when the cost of shipping goes up twice a year now. Food for thought Sabrina. Lots of love girl! I'm your biggest fan
The new mentality at the eBay Corp has ruined the website. It's a race to the bottom. And profit margins are thin on just about every category. The big boy shills will tell you it's the best thing since sliced bread. It's a lie! They're paid! I've come to learn that. Unless you pump up a volume store with over 50,000 items You will then start seeing more consistent sales. But I've noticed watching certain videos that the items that are being sold are for around $5. I don't get it! To me it seems like an excuse for most men to tell their wives they are making bookoo bucks to justify not getting a real job. It's kind of gross. In certain ways RU-vid creators put ideas into eBay bigwigs heads to make the site more expensive because of them boasting about their profit margins. SMH. It's become a flea market mentality. You literally pay customers to buy your items because of the watch system. It's hard! Good luck in your new endeavors. You're the best!❤
Hello my friend! I’m so glad you are able to be a part time reseller! That’s what I do and work my part time job as well. It’s nice to have the steady money.
If you've never been behind the scenes at a Walmart, (I have... TWICE! YIPPEE!!!) you won't know this, but the Christmas merchandise starts coming in the back door mid-September. So there's a fun fact for you. They may wait until Halloween to put it out, but they have the pleasure of holding it in the back room for a month and a half or two. As far as the grumps that think you should wait until the package hits the post office, they are just arguing over semantics, basically. Anyone with half a brain that knows how to use tracking can easily see what steps have been taken, from label creation to where it is in transit. So basically they have a moot point. I wish one of you resellers/RU-vidrs would explain the thinking behind the length of time an item is listed on ebay. Do you list for 30 days at a time? Sixty days? Ninety days? Then if it doesn't sell, delete the listing and create a "sell similar" listing to resell?
Sometimes PS is a little cheaper for me if it’s a bigger/heavier item but it’s pretty much the same price as eBay. I think it could vary per person depending on what state they live in.
Thanks for helping me out Sabrina. You got me started selling CDs. Last week, I found a $60 CD median used price! Most don't sell anywhere near this, but a cool find.
Good luck on your new job!! I'll be patiently, not patiently, waiting for an update haha. I wil share a life saying I have in hopes it helps you uou. Progress not prefection, grace not shame.
When I pack and put the label on I mark it shipped. Everything goes out within 24 hours. Ebay marks it shipped when you print the label so I think that's pretty much the practice across the board. Halloween and Christmas sell all year around but you'll get more money closer to the holiday usually. Some folks have the decor up all year as well.
Congratulations! I'm so happy for you. I work alot and post on my days off but the extra money will be worth it. I'm glad you got a job that you like. And stop feeling guilty lol you're awesome hope to hear from you soon!
Your journey mirrors mine in a lot of ways…but my part time job turned into full time. But that’s ok, it’s been good. Reselling used to be great but not so much anymore. Good luck at your new job!
Good luck and I am happy for you! I am part time reseller because I have a full time job and I totally agree with you. I only work 3- 12 hours so it's not so bad but having extra income from work when my reselling is not consistent, it is not going to be as stressful like what you were feeling. God bless you and your family!
I think you are definitely too hard on yourself I understand you are proud of yourself too but I think you're really hard on yourself. You're probably like me you're Your own worst enemy. I think you are a wonderful person and I think no matter what you do you will definitely be very great at it.
Congratulations on finding a job to help with finances. If I may suggest a video.... I love your sold ship with me. You could continue to chat while you ship. Don't edit just record and go and paste the days together. If would be great to keep your channel active and bloopers are funny. So happy you're happy!
First i want to say i hope all is well and whatever you do makes you feel happy in the end. Though i think reselling can be a source of income it really depends what you have access to and knowledge, some dealers have first dibs at estate sales, auctions and other promising ways to get highly desirable inventory. People who just have access to pretty much what i call inexpensive yard sale finds spend way more on inventory that sits then stuff that is actually valuable and sought after or just small flips. Having low sourcing funds is another issue not being able to fund more valuable items is another reason why we stock up on small dollar items. We can get confused when we see sales coming in with actual money coming in, what happens to some of us is we just recycle that money over and over, eventually ending up with more money tied up in dead inventory and operational cost than money earned. I really enjoy reselling myself but I'm a single mom so its not sustainable or reliable for my family size at this time. So for now I'm just prepping for retirement then maybe I'll consider taking it seriously. I hope you keep us updated and good luck on your journey.
Thank you for sharing your heart and situation. I like your analogy of the fireworks display in relation to God in our lives. This life is definiately challenging. Wishing you the best with your new job.
I had to go fulltime last year about this time because the job I had was about to give me a heart attack. I have used it as a hard earned unemployment without the rules of unemployment. I have looked for work the whole time and it's hard out there looking for work they want phd's to wash dishes sometimes. I feel for you in going back to work because it is hard when the entire thing depends on you and not a company or a system. I have been happy with my year though as I have almost tripled my sales from the previous year. However I have also listed a lot more than I have ever in my 15 or so years of ebay.
i have the opposite problem, i have a room of inventory and I cant find the time to shoot it and list it. Sigh. I dont want to quit but I think I need a partner,...
Just subscribed because you seem like a lovely person and I just love the transparency. Love how positive you are being too. You aren't alone , reselling is harder than ever. There's simply too much competition and the economy being in the state that its in only makes matters worse. I'm having a terrible summer of sales but optimistic for 3rd and 4th quarter. I use ebay as a means to an end while I work on my main vintage business. I gotta keep eggs in several baskets, it's more work but you always have to be ready to pivot when you own a small business. I don't know if ebay will ever get back to it's former glory days. Lots of things need to happen for things to improve. You really hit the nail on the head on so many points. Best of luck on your future endeavors.
When things get bad on ebay for me I just say to myself "I have a lot more wins on this thing than I have losses" and that keeps me going. Not everyday is going to be great. There will be tough times. Yes ebay has made a lot of changes to their site that has seen a plummet in site traffic and making it more difficult for buyers to sell. Some days it feels like ebay has a physical hold on my sales. I started another ebay store and this seems to be combatting that. Also crosslisting on Posh has helped. I do think this period is a serious low point for ebay. Enough of us resellers need to continue to voice our concern to ebay and hope for positive change. You say you are leaving reselling. But I know if you ever see a patagonia nano puffer on the side of the road, you will be turning your car around and throwing it in the back seat and have it washed photoed and listed. Good luck quitting, you are still a hustler.
Thanks so much for your comment. I definitely am not quitting Ebay. I do have to go back to work because I’m just not making enough but I still plan on selling on eBay just not as a full-time seller.
