An 883 will make about 50bhp, and a 1200 maybe 65bhp.. but brake horse power is largely irrelavant on a slow revving V twin... Tourque is more relavant, an 883 makes about 50Ft lb of torgue, and a 1200 more like 70... so a very noticable 40% increase !
Thanks Del!! I've wanted one of those things for a while, I just don't have that many coins to get one. I can think of a dozen ways to use it right now.
Hi Ted. They are a big investment if you want the entire setup, and like all investments we "need to need them" on order to justify it.. Goos to hear form you buddy.. stay safe.
Sorry to be a pain, i want a 5 galon tank for my 22 streetbob do you know what full set up or kits are available as i want to get the tank and have it painted and the put on with no waiting for parts, or opps i didnt get that, theres so many tanks online its a minefield and want to make sure i get the correct set up, any help would be cool or direction to parts list/sites, thanks for reading
Hi David, no problem... sadly there are no easy "kits" you can just order.. you have to put it all together yourself, but it's not hard. I've used a 2023 Lowrider S tank, (same as the ST) and ordered the pump assembly and bolts for it, then painted it myself. then it just bolts straight on as you saw in the video.. The main dealer can order the tank and pump assembly for you, and any paint shop can paint it if you can do it yourself.. not cheap by the time you're all done, but not difficult either. Hope that helps mate.. Good luck.
@Moonfleet41 cool thanks for reply it's appreciated in the long run it'll be worth it as I can rack up more miles and not worry about fueling up as much, thank you for your assistance
@@davidmurray9193 You're very welcome mate, and as a motivation for you while you cringe at the cost... i now get about 210 miles showing on the range readout when i fill it right up.. even ragging it hard on a long run two up im getting 185 miles before the fuel light comes on.!
Very good information. Some things to emphasize: throughput, throughput, throughput... It is less about pressure and more about the compressor throughput. Crucial for effective workings. Anything over 4 bar will do fine. But 13 CFM is rock bottom. Preferably somethings 2 or even 3 times that and a tank to match. Wearing a mask at the very least. Preferably a vacuum filter system. Ingesting/inhaling the fine particles is really bad. Make sure your parts a completely de-greased before blasting. I have a similar set-up as in the video but I use water with a detergent to aqua-blast parts clean.
Great vid mate, going to do mine shortly when the new ones arrive. Do yourself a favor and invest in some retaining clip pliers, makes life a bit easier! :-)
Is there a video where you deassamble and cleaning those carburettors as well? I have exactly the same carburettors on my adventurer 98 and would like to see what type of gaskets/jets inside. Matte
In my very limited experience the best thing about a blast cabinet is with care & the right fine blast material you can achieve a satisfactory satin finish on aluminium castings etc that doesn’t need painting or polishing, maybe just sealer / clear lacquer
I love my blast cabinet though one thing is certainly worth noting, is if you are using it regularly, it creates a lot of dust around the workshop! I have mine near an open window and made myself a budget cyclone with a bucket and hooked up a hoover. It made a huge difference
Thanks for the nudge mate ive been meaning to sort that out for mine for ages.. but you know how it is, life just never gives you free time any more.! Hope you're well mate, lets catch up soon aye. !
Making your own setup is fun also, using an old Fridge/Freezer compressor is much quieter than than the pumps you get on air compressors, so you can work later with out annoying others/yourself. If you get one that used R12, R600a, R22, or R290 refrigerant which should be mineral oil and suitable for compressor construction, if not you can drain and flush with Methoated spirits, and refill with the amount you drained with compressor oil.
I have an addiction to "non-chlorinated brake cleaner" that I purchase by the case for cleaning parts in my garage using the same kitty litter trays that you use!
as a proffessional stage tecnician working witth high end tools , wera beats them all, Hazet, Wiha,Facom, we had Hazet ratshes 50 Euro a piece, breaking down after 1/2 a year
I got a Blast Cabinet for Christmas last year and it is life changing. One Thing that I have found is that it is 100 times better at keeping rust away than sanding and painting a slightly rusty surface with Rustoleum. I have attempted to sand away rust on metal parts but not been able to get it all because of heavy pitting or because the surface was textured in such away to prevent sand paper from getting all the rust so I used Rustoleum's rust reformer and then went over that with a Rustoleum spray paint and every time with in a few weeks I have rust popping back out of the paint. but Items that I have run through my cabinet stay rust free after I have painted them.
A little while yet, she's now riding the Bobber also so spreading the mileage, meaning they both climb slower! Thank you for your kind support though...
Hi Del & Penny, hope all is well. Nice video mate, would not be with out my blast cabinet. I added a diy cyclone dust collector with a shop vac, works great for stopping the dust. Penny and you enjoy your week, take care. Cheers
Thanks mate, I'm hearing a lot about the dust collector idea, could be a great upgrade once I get time to get to it! Enjoy your week there, ride safe, D&Px
Yikes.. well i literally dont have it in me not to ride till mine show up lol but i know they are atleast as bad as yours😅 But i will swear not to bend em back and put them on my secondary bike🥲
Such a cool process. It seems almost like magic. All the auto repair shops in the "rust belt"states over here have one (or need one badly). 😁 Ever since direct injection (unfortunately) came into being a variation of that process with walnut shells is a popular service here now also. Kind of looks like a shop vac but seems to work great. Thanks for the info on what it takes to have a set-up like yours. Best to you and Penny. ❤👍👍
Thank you so much Rick, glad you enjoyd it, and yes, it's a magical process, not only turning cruddy old parts out like new, but also a finish ready to directly polish or paint... Take care my friend and have a wonderful week! D&Px
I owned one industrial type past 20-25 years. Still using it today. Updated it a few times like the dust collector ( clears dust in cabinet) has a trap at the bottom to discard. Later I added a reclaim unit. Trap blast media put back blaster unit. It's darn well worth it for me. Love restoring ancient stuff back in the ’40s and ’50s…. Even just cleaning. I noticed you got dust flying in your cabinet…. Get yourself dust collector,,,, then you have better vision in the cabinet. Great report though.
Sold....As soon as I build my new shed, buy my new shelves, buy my new cupboards and concrete a bit of the new shed that doesnt yet have a concrete base.... One of these will be mine....
Any tips on an R6 2005? I've done everything so far. Replaced cables, adjusted tension, cleaned throttle tube out (it does has a crack in the plastic near the bar end but not fouling the bar) The only thing i can think of is the pulley as i removed it to clean. But it snaps back fine without cables on. Soon as i install cables it just sluggishly rotates and i still have 1/8th of a turn left before it's at 0
