Hopefully you got paid very handsomely and it was worth it. None of those people will be there for you if you are sick, but hopefully your family would, if you were there for them
The greatest sounding guitar I've ever heard. He makes simple cords sound amazing. My favorite is how he can create meaty riffs but also so Rich sounding.
I've never been in a situation where I've done more than 2 sessions in a day... but that was stressful enough, as I am the only person moving my gear. I used to do three live shows a day, with travel... hung it up... too much stress to really let me be "me", but I will say.... there was usually some killer playing on job 3... tired, just going for broke.... just playing instinctually, not overthinking it. I remember thinking "why don't I do this all the time?" It was the exhaustion that lowered the inhibition... Your biggest adversary is yourself.... Wish I learned that as a younger man.
Young's "you know" sounds like Mikhail "Gorshok" Gorshenev's "Понимаешь, да?" ("You do understand, don't you"). He also used that phrase quite regularly
Wow! I was all set to tell you about me working from 7:30AM to 3:30PM in NYC Construction. Then going out drinking till 4AM. But you weren't kidding, this is a sick story. I am still recovering though from the shock of realizing so many bands didn't record themselves playing. Which, I suppose, explains why so many bands sound worse live. Thanks, Tim, Love that guitar, too.
Those stubby little fingers made some of the greatest rock guitar music ever. He's an inspiration to all guitar players with stubby fingers - Hell, an inspiration to anyone with any limitation.
I remember "living on the edge of burnout" in film production and editing throughout the late 90s and all of the 00s... don't know how I did it now, but it was not without it's own rewards! 😃 so yeah, ALWAYS seems a little better, easier on the other side of the equation. but don't expect rewards without putting in the work, or even the hours! Life lessons...
Tim, it's great to know you played on that first Bon Jovi. I love that solo on "Runaway" and I saw Bon Jovi perform it in a rock club when I was about 17 yrs old and Jon was 21. Wow, what a memory. Thanks for the solo!
That’s one thing I’ve always liked about Fenders, it’s not crazy to mod them, unlike Gibsons. On Fenders, the sky’s the limit, where with Gibsons there’s only so many things you can do before you have to start drilling holes and stuff like that. Plus, people look at you crazy for any modifications on a Gibson beyond changing out the pickups. Personally, I think it’s a good idea to try to make any modifications easy to reverse, and make sure you hold on to the parts you replace. In case you change your mind later, or decide to sell it. So you can restore it back to stock specs.
Thank you for this lesson! I have a question. I'm an intermediate level player whos played for 40 yrs but only started learning theory in past yr or two. The shapes you played at the beginning both start on an E note. You said they were in the key of A. What makes them in the key of A? How do I know where to start the shape if not on 1st note of the scale? In other words if it's in A why didn't it start on A? Thank you & sorry for rookie question. 🙂
Your wife was a SAINT to put up with that schedule. I know you were a gun player and were making a living but dude. A lot of women would have kicked your ass to the kerb. Luckily for us you do this for a living now and we get to enjoy your amazing channel.
Plays all kinds of difficult and great stuff flawless, with ease and the forever smile…and then few seconds later says ‘oh, that’s actually quite hard to do !’ and repeats it again with ease and flawless… Ehrm…for normal mortals it almost all is man…but don’t believe for a second it was for you ! 😂 Great and master guitar players…love ‘em and hate ‘em 😊😂
