That’s the point of replaceable bolt on rear mech hangers that was the normal before new direct mounts, easy cheap part replacement - can’t see manufacturers keeping new type ones staying cheap. I have 2022 GX eagle, mentioned what you feature now the only GX version now and wireless only does that mean mechanical GX (believe mine same right up to GX wireless launch) no longer available in any way?
I took your advice and found a used Trek hard tail with a 1-11, definitely my favorite bike ever now I’m thinking of upgrading some components like a dropper post what else should I think about upgrading? Love your videos!
I put my bike into a shop once a year for a full service, I'll let someone else do the "All over" stuff :-) But I do have a few of these "Cheap" tools dotted about in my garage and for someone who only does quick checks just before he's about to go out on his bike, then some (Definitely not all!!!) of these tools, especially ones you don't use all the time, really do come in handy for minor jobs.
please link the auctions on ali that you bought from because the same tools seem to be sold by multiple shops. and might be different or just shipping is bad.
I wish you would make like a hour or so long video of just talking and tinkering…I LOVE all your videos and your voice is so soothing.. great stuff Seth‼️
I just bought a cheap china ebike for under 1k. Ok for driving the kid around over the weekend, little one loves it, it won't see any off-road, since I do not think that it was made for that... Keep making these videos so that I can assemble a service tool kit as well to keep it running for at least a few years... The bike came with the essentials to assemble it but that is not even close to everything you need to maintain it. Even after the first short ride, I noticed that I needed to adjust the derailleur. Years ago I had a vintage used road bike and all maintenance that it needed was cleaning, and replacing brakes, and tyres, over 30 years works like new.
Excellent video, for someone like me who is thinking of purchasing a bike, two things i liked about your video, is 1, you no what your talking about, and 2, which for me made me listen more intently , is your the same height has myself at 5, 4, i have a 29 inside leg measurement for my trousers, and has you said , you use a size small bike, i also no now what size bike to go for, thanks so much for passing your knowledge on. JC.
These chain tools are usually pretty crappy and only work a few times. I had 4 same or similar to yours over the years and usually the screw threads break really easily rendering them useless. This is one area where my parktool chain tool is just waaaaay better and worth the extra money.
What was the total cost though? If you have a c.60% chance to get a decent tool, you're still wasting a lot of money, and that could be the justification to just get the better tool.
This type of chain gauge does not work with modern SRAM chains and will indicate wear way too late, damaing your drivetrain! Those have bigger rolers than all previous chains. These gqauges measure between the inside of the roler of one segemnt to the outside of a couple of segments over. The bigger rolers of moderm chains pushes the gauge out further though. You need a gaughe like the Park Tool CC4 that measures between the outside of one roler and the outside of another roler!
Never had any problems with the service from aliexpress, stuff arrives from China to the UK in about 5 days fully tracked with free shipping :) they sent me the wrong type of mech once and I could send it back for free and had the full refund in 3 days :)
I have been using Ali express since around 2019 everything from bike tools to prescription custom made glasses...yes there i some junk out there but most of the time the products meet expectations and I have only ever had one order not arrive...it never left China and the money went right back in my account...
How about making money-spent counters for both "Aliexpress Tool Kit" and the "Aliexpress Scrap Matel Bin"? So, we will know both sides of the story. Love the series!
As for the chain tool, I would have been interested in how well you can push a new pin in. I had tools that couldn't do that at all, and some that worked really well but were also cheap.
The brushes in the cleaning kit are great. The chain brush is definitely for a motorcycle chain, but it works. The chain cleaner is crap, I got a park tool one, and it's way better, but I also use wax chain lube now and don't degrease my chain much anymore.
since all the modern trails being built these days are all carpet smooth flow trails, it makes sense to just take the next step and pave them, eliminating most maintenance, and they'll be rideable for most of the year.
Take a video about this , The world is now ruled by one community of people, the world Satanic elite, you can also call them the committee to meet the Antichrist and prevent the 2nd coming of Jesus, Trump called them the deep state, at the moment it consists of about 10,000 people, the main ones there are Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Windsors, Baruchs, they, their ancestors, descendants and other people who enter there have the mark of Lucifer, which, if they bring the antichrist and do not allow the 2nd coming, they will receive eternal life after the x hour, and the rest of humanity, for all the time that they have lived, they won't get anything, so all people should know about the existence of a world government (Jesus who was a The Prophet of God, not God.God will send Jesus as a reward to humanity, if humanity deserves it, for this it is necessary to fight Lucifer and his elite)
The air that gets released from removing the shock pump is from the shock pump and hose side. The schraeder valve should be closed way before the pump hose fitting comes off. The more you know 😂
Interesting. Looks like it would put a lot more side load on the deals/piston as opposed to a conventional design with two pivots, though. Wonder if they find premature seal wear at all. Overall, very cool idea.
Almost 12 years later, I'm still glad i converted my '13 Trek MTB from hydraulic to cable BB7 brakes. Bleeding brakes is stupid enough on a car, and I'm so happy to never ever have to do it on a bike. Of course I'm also someone who ordered a daily with cantis and then converted to 70mm drums front and back (with tubeless rims). No ragrets. Seth, would you ever like to build an S-A drum wheelset for a MTB and test it? Would be interesting to see how braking performance improves after break-in too, because I'm pretty sure my daily stops better now than it did 6 mo ago. Love that damn bike.
The biggest issue with those cheap mallets/hammers is the handle bending, generally when you miss and say strike the edge of the vice with the handle and they can often just fold over inhalf on themselves (or becoming detached from the head)
