Hey everybody! This is my personal channel where I share my personal hobbies/vids, to include mostly ADV riding videos. Why is my name the Lopsided ADV rider? Watch the videos and find out!
Just wondering about the doohickey adjustment. Seen many mechanics state the doohickey adjustment should be done every oil change. Simple process, tons of how to do on RU-vid. Cheers.
I have the same bike, It was too tall for me. I traded a guy for his KLR650S suspension and I lowered mine using OEM parts. There was no need to modify the kick stand whatsoever. The Kawasaki OEM side stand part number 34024 is the same for KLR 650S and KLR650. There are people having to rework their side stand because they chopped it off after lowering.
Okay, I'm here to say thank you! I have soft sided saddlebags on my gen 2 KLR and didn't want to put my camera on either side but now with your cutting board instructions I'm more confident in the bike being able to take a flop without breaking anything expensive 📸
Best to just leave the KLR 650 at the standard height so the suspension has some chance of working properly. If anything a KLR should be lifted so the rear sits up in the stroke.
I made my kickstand adjustable. I'm assuming that most are similar. Mine was the right diameter so that I was able to Cut a section out and thread the inside with a tap for a 3/4" threaded rod and use a couple of jam nuts
Man I may have to do this. I am 5’5” and tippy toes on both sides. Barely touching. I get my lower seat tomorrow. Hopefully that helps a lot as I really don’t want to mod the bike
No I did not. I considered doing it if I felt it necessary following some road and trail tests. It performs great and no issues so I won't be adjusting the forks.
Man im 5'11 and my 2018 klr 650 has me on tiptoes and ive almost dumped it several times standing still 😢 About the sag, if i drop it 2 inches and adjust sag to mid and adjust the front tubes and get the slim seat do you think id be able to sit flat foot?
Seems more practical to cut off the foot (porta-band), cut an inch of "hallow pipe" at the bottom (porta-band), reweld the foot on, could be done without removing the kickstand from the bike. No need for scoring the top reworking the system adding "punch welds" etc. Maybe I am missed something?
Oh u will buy another one. I just did and am now the proud owner of 2 KLR's, a '22 and a '23. Why? They're awesome, inexpensive and ez to work on. I traded a '21 Harley Road King in for 2 Adventure models of which I gave my son one. I don't regret the trade as KLR's are fun and not tedious to ride.
Buen día. Para los Bestia como yo o los burros como se dice en Argentina.. agregale los subtítulos en castellano como en el video del cambio de aceite. Asi sabemos que decis. Aparte vas a llegar a mas personas de esa forma. Muy buen material subis. Abrazo y buenas rutas🤙✌🛵🇦🇷
Haha, I described what the shop did. I did not personally do the shortening so could not record it. If you do everything I did in my video, your kickstand will be shortened just like mine.
21 is way too much it will eventually destroy the case. The manual is wrong. Kawasaki has put weird numbers into a lot of manuals. You find the proper torque of 23Nm / 15ftlbs in the older manuals.
I went with an adjustable stand just in case i want to put it back to normal height some day. Wasn't cheap, but i like the flexibility. I used a harborfreight "hook screwdriver" to get the spring back on, they are a bit of a pain.
Yeah no center stand for me. My last trail ride confirmed that was a good idea. The way I ride I would scrape, catch, damage the crap out of any additional crap I add to the underside of my bike. If you ride really easy and no rocks/technical stuff I’m sure it would be fine.
This option was not designed for the KLR factory fog lights. The stock headlight is bright enough for me so I don’t feel like I’m missing out with something else that will break when I dump the bike on trails. Compared to my gen1, this stock headlight is like the surface of the sun haha
Good video, & sounds like that muffler shop did you a solid considering the extra prep & welding. I would have suspected they would just cut the bottom of the kickstand (the pad) off, shorten the tube an inch & re-weld it instead of doing what they did. That said I like what they did better 👍
