So that’s 10 coaches at about 32-38 tons each (bearing in mind the pullmans are heavier than the Mk2s), plus 120t of idling diesel and 45-50t of loaded water carrier. Anyone know how to do the maths to calculate EDP, that must have been phenomenal!

Great set thank you 👍👍👍👍. Watching from the carpark reminded me of watching Clan Line in I think '75. It took 25 minutes to lift it's train out of the station and round that first bend!! I think it had nine on and no assist in those days. What a racket. Some time later I found a recording on an ArgoTransacord record of the incident, condensed into about five minutes.
There are plenty of videos of the four Castles together on YT to make up for missing it. My footage from Didcot has yet to be edited, but I went to Oxford and Banbury to film the return run and I was rewarded at Oxford by a high speed run through the station as they made up for time lost by an earlier P.W. slack. The Oxford and Banbury footage is on my YT channel, with the Didcot footage to follow in due course...
