So happy to have found these videos of such good quality Dave. As newcomers to north Dorset we are exploring the area and the videos are so helpful and informative and will take us to a few new places. Thank you for the historical content too. We also find Logan’s zoomies very entertaining.
Looking up dorset names ,in 1227 a certain simon de frampton owned land in chedington which coincides with mine ,must visit next time i'm back in the UK 😊😊😊

This walk looks fabulous! Just up my street. I intend to get the train from Christchurch next Spring as unable to go this year. Wild ponies, a picnic and a pub and I'll be in paradise. Thankyou for sharing this with us Dave.
I only had it near to me whilst I was explaining how it worked and so the wireless microphone was picking up a noise. In normal use, the Hoverair at least 6 metres away and doesn't sound too noisy.
We used to go to Hatchet Pond. Water lilies there. Lovely seeing all these names again. So pleased to have found this channel, you are very knowledgeable . Thank you .
This is my favourite place and go to place to not think about work and problems of the world .... a great place to chill and clear your mind ! Thanks for the video .
👍👍👍👍👍👍🐦 We loved that video Dave and Logan! We thought aye aye..... Who's filming our favourite adventurers? What a brilliant gizmo! Fab video! Thank You!😊
An enjoyable walk in an area of Dorset with which I’m not familiar. The drone footage added the experience of accompanying you along the footpath. Thanks Dave
Another great video, Dave. I spotted the drone shots right away and even identified the particular drone you have before you introduced it (I don't have one myself). It added interest, and as you say, can save you a lot of setting up of tripod shots and walking backwards and forwards. Despite the lesser definition, I don't think that really matters and I hope you'll go on using it.
Thank you Jim. I think that I will use it going in future video walks (it doesn't take up too much room in my bag). The "360 degree orbit" and "Follow" are the modes I am most likely to use as well as "Custom" (as you can actually use that with your phone & get sweeping shots of views).
Hi Dave, If you had turned right, along the track into the forest, rather than heading to the earthworks on Woodcuts common. You would have come across "Scrubbity Barrows". I think there are nine barrows and last year they had started clearing some of the undergrowth so they are a bit more visible. I saw them on the OS map, and with such a great name, had to make a "pilgrimage". Lovely area and a really nice pub. My daughters were both working nearby so it became a favourite watering spot last summer. Chettle, just up the road is another really interesting village. The village (all of it) has been owned and still is, by the same family for the last four hundred years. There's quite a story about how the great house was sold and all the family drama, (moral being, never get involved with lawyers).
Some nice birdsong in there, Mr Logan, well mixed in and still keeping yer mate Dave to your well crafted script. Congrats on your new pilot stripes, let's see what those paws can do. Thank you both.
Farnham really is a delightful village Dave, and the Museum provides a comfortable watering hole. There used to be an eccentric (my description, he seemed that way to me) old chap running/owning it, but you always got a warm welcome. I had noticed from Butcombe's website that they now had ownership. The drone offers something different, and like you said the video quality doesn't match the rest, but for earthworks and tumuli, hilltops etc, it's an ideal compromise. I know it's a new "toy" but please don't be tempted to overuse it.
Thanks. Yes, I think it will only get used a couple of times for a walk - I was really only testing it in this video. The "orbit" shot will come in quite useful.
You had me scratching my head wondering just how you were achieving those elevated shots. What an ingenious piece of equipment. The clarity is just as good as the other system you use. My grandparents died in about 1980, heaven knows what they would have made of all this technology.
Thanks Dave, for this interesting walk, and tech exhibit, which gives hope to Yvonne here who failed two attempts to send an email just before joining you on this walk. What a range of historical features this week and thatch like we have never seen before. Cheers to you and Logan.🎉
Liked the video as usual Dave - nice part of the world. I liked the aerial shots, initially I thought you had taken on a camera operator with a drone. Clever bit of kit and I didn’t really notice any poor image quality. Hope you use it some more, that ‘orbit’ facility was excellent. I guess it saves you walking back and forth to the arrival and departure scenes. 👍👍👍
Thanks for the feedback. I think that I will be using the "Hover" from time to time - once I get the hang of operation it (which in fact is quite easy!).
Every shade of green on that walk and lots of arrow straight defined paths. I think Logan has a new favourite crisp manufacturer!! Thanks for taking us along with you.
Dave has the perfect approach to doing a Tour of the area. It works very well for me. I could watch this Walking tour for hours. Very relaxing, Dave, as I'm getting ready to move to Christchurch and would love to go Beach hiking. Cheers, Mate!
@@SeanMorgan280 Whippets and Greyhounds are similar. A Greyhound is bigger and faster although a Whippet will get to it's top speed (35MPH) quicker (I.e. has the faster acceleration). Basically if they had a "race" over 100 yards, the Whippet would be leading at 50 yards but the Greyhound would be leading at 100 yards (with a higher top speed of 45 MPH). They are both Sighthounds.
Very many thanks for more gorgeous colours and glorious views. The Compton Down map of Australia and its history was fascinating, as also the Fovant Badges.
I just did this walk an hour or so ago. Still a bit damp because at the end coming back to the mill I jumped in the clear fresh fast flowing water. Can you blame me on such a hot day hitting 30. Beautiful little walk with a lot of leaf cover from the glaring sun. Probably one to do when there are less leaves about and cooler for those unobstructed stunning views I was thinking, so will do it again sometime when I won't feel the urge to take the mill plunge. Sorry about that ducks and trout. 🦆
I grew up in Dibden Purlieu in the 80’s, this area was my adventure ground, so many happy memories, beautiful area, what a wonderful video, thank you 🙏
Thank you Dave and Logan! My ....Logan took that hilly footpath with such style! Up and Down! That Logan sized door was perfect! That beer was well earned and once again Dave... We loved going for that walk with you! Thank You!😊
Addendum is 26-27 Jul is the annual Chincoteague Pony Swim, which your walk reminded me of, but I couldn't conjure up its title until I saw it on the news. Cheers and Happy St James' Day!🎉
