Jurors are technically not "screended". I was summoned for jury duty. The judge asked the group I was in if we could objectively and fairly serve as jurors. Then the attorneys for the prosecution and the defendant decide the jury panel. I was picked to sit on the panel. The case my panel heard was a murder case. We decided the defendant was guilty.

The drill instructor had the weight of the world on his shoulders. He’s trying to prepare conscripted (not volunteer) kids barely old enough (in most cases) to vote how to survive in actual warfare, and how to be useful under unthinkable pressure. Think about that level of responsibility. He was hard on Pyle because he gave a damn - about Pyle and about the men he would be fighting alongside. And he was using the only tools he had - those he himself was taught. He wasn’t being cruel, at least not in his mind. Cruelty world have been sending a helpless kid into a jungle full of other men with guns trying to kill him.
At this time Army Airborne Infantry and Marines were all Volunteers no draftees were in the units..We had Doctors tell us at the VA what happens to your brain after you go through these things .This part basic/boot camp is changing you to be able to even do this job. They stress you very little sleep everybody the same part of the process of changing you
There was no line crossing for draftees. They are being trained to be insensitive to all BS and do a job. You think we won wars by preaching unicorns and rainbows? You were either tough or canned. We dont want no wimps defending our country.
This movie is basically. Moby Dick with teeth. ( no that's not a Porno title! 🤨 Geeze) . Just think Captain Ahab and his obsession with the great White Whale. And then you'll understand Captain Quinn and his Great White Shark.
Fun fact. The Bull Shark. The species responsible for the vast majority of shark attacks in the United States. Can tolerate fresh water for extended periods of time. They have swam up rivers that are not damed up for miles inland. And there are recorded shark attacks thousands of miles inland. I myself live on the second biggest lake in Texas and it's fed by the Trinity River. We are approximately 80 miles from the coast and the dam of our lake is the first damn on this river coming from the coast. Bull Sharks have been caught just below the dam over the years. So I wouldn't go swimming in the river either. And then there's the alligators in the lake itself. And massively huge alligator gar in the river as well too. Lots and lots of reasons to not swim in anything except a swimming pool. But only after the pool has been thoroughly sight checked for any invading Gators. Our lake's here in East Texas have plenty of Alligators in them. And strangely enough. People and their children still swim in gator infested waters. I don't swim in lakes either. Not to mention all the little Gators and Cayman crocodiles that they used to sell in the U.S. pet trade. Almost all of those pets eventually became way too big and dangerous for the people to take care of. But since they had raised them from babies. They couldn't bring themselves to kill them. So instead they released them in whatever body of water that was close by and convenient. So even in lake's you never know.
I love fishing in the ocean. But only idiots swim and surf in the ocean. Just watch some shark drone videos on RU-vid and you'll see just how common it is that where people swim and surf that there are numerous sharks swimming just beneath them. Luckily sharks only attack humans when they are very hungry and other prey is scarce. There is a lot of misinformation out there about sharks not being a danger. I don't care what they say. Lions are not dangerous either when they are full and have plenty to eat. But that doesn't mean that I'm going to go walking by a pride of the big cats casually strolling the African savannah any time soon. It's exactly the same thing.
i love these old movies, maybe because i'm old too 😁 i guess i have most of them, there are so many great movies here are some of them, the forbidden planet with Leslie Nielsen (1956) the right stuff with multiple high ranking actors (1983) labyrinth with David Bowie (1986) remo unarmed and dangerous with Fred Ward & Kate Mulgrew (1985) war of the worlds (1953) the andromeda strain (1971) westworld and futureworld (1973/1976) and so many others, to many to mention them all, cheers
a more modern one is deep blue sea with Samuel Jackson (1999), there is CGI involved instead of animatronics there is also, orca the killer whale with Richard Harris (1977) 1999 is also a title of a sci-fi tv series called space 1999, i still love it, the same for BSG (Battlestar Galactiica) there is a 1978 version (original) and a 2004 remake, the remake is more realistic, if you intend to watch BSG, then you should start with caprica, then the 3 minisodes, and then the 4 seasons (2004) the original series is only one season

The foreshadowing in this film is interesting. The guy who says he has no personal feelings about the case, is judging it on the basis of his broken relationship with his own son. The guy who says he never sweats, starts to sweat as he begins having doubts. The guy who says his mind couldn't be changed in a million years, changes his mind just to speed things along.
roys dying speech was partially ad libed by rutger hauer, rip, who was great as roy. ver kinda clones. lots ethical qs in vis, way ahead of its time, n respected, became a cult classic.
Read the book Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi. It gives the true story this is based off of. And if you listen to the audiobook, it is narrated the same way
For starters, a sheriff can Not over ride a Mayor. The Mayor is supreme authority over city councils, and the Police Department. He is the Sheriff's boss and has the authority to fire the Sheriff if the Sheriff over steps their authority. So when everyone says Brody should have ignored the Mayor, he couldn't he didn't have the authority to do so. The Shark looked very good for a mechanical. it was enough to scare people from going into the ocean the year the movie came out. and started a shark craze so it must looked good enough for the terror it caused. So I would say who ever told you it looked bad didn't know what they were talking about. Now you need to watch Jaws 2 the only decent sequel. It's four year's later. And a new Shark comes to Amity. Also just so you know, the bull shark which is a known man-eater. Can actually survive both in salt and freshwater. It has been found swimming up into the Mississippi River, and other freshwater riverways so don't think just because you're in a lake you're necessarily safe if that lake is connected to a waterway that goes out to see a bull shark can find its way there. Also watch Jaws 2 and you will see how a shark watcher works
