Of all the movies I have seen in my life - and I've seen quite a few, trust me - it's this particular movie I'm so thankful I saw on opening day. The advertisement was so good that, quite frankly, we weren't sure what kind of movie this was other than it was a Sci Fi film. So I saw it on opening day, last showing (only to find out years later that the possibility is about 90% or better that James Cameron himself was in that audience - heck, I might have sat next to him for all I know). So NOBODY in that audience knew what was coming 55 minutes into the film. I don't recall screaming, but I can only bet our eyes looked like saucers and our mouths were wide open. It's still one of the great shocks I ever got in a theater. So why am I so thankful I saw it on opening day? That's because by Sunday it seemed EVERYBODY knew about the scene, thereby being dealed out of the shock value. Hey, at least I got to experience it. Hehehe. And just so you know, the reason the alien wasn't THAT visible in the film was because it looked exactly like what it was - it was a man in a suit.

“Don’t touch it” because it bleeds acid and they are now in space.

Was going to say that too - why do the majority of reactors say why don't they just kill it - d'oh cos it was created by something that had acid for blood maybe?!

Lambert was in the movie The Birds. You need to do the Hitchcock movies, then the Eastwood films, and then all the films no RU-vidr has Done, Like Patton, Papillon, Sergeant York, Secret Life of Walter Mitty, etc...

you've done a fantastic job editing your videos. real smooth transitions between you and the movie. i watch alot of reaction channels, and your editing looks like someone that's been doing this awhile rather than someone with three videos. great job. and your reactions are good too. 🙂

1. Tagline "In space no one can hear you scream" 2. Best explosion EVER 😱🏆💯(including Star Wars) 3. Dallas/Tom Skerritt also played Viper in "Top Gun" and Strawberry in "Up in Smoke". 4. Brett/Harry Dean Stanton had a very healthy resume. We lost him recently.😇 5. Ridley Scott is also known for directing the original "Bladerunner". 6. The hanging bodies weren't in the original release. They didn't expect a sequel.

Tom Skerrit was also in Space Camp (which involves a disaster in space). He was also in Contact (which involves a vehicle mishap attempt to go to space). Basically, if you’re in a movie with Tom Skerrit, avoid space travel altogether because something bad will likely happen.

You can’t kill it by stabbing it with a pen. It would have bled acid everywhere and possibly destroyed the ship. She couldn’t use the hatchet on it in the shuttle either (for the same reason). Also, she couldn’t use the flamethrower on it where it was because it was blocking the route to the escape shuttle (while the self destruct was on). She wouldn’t have been able to go that way if it was on fire.

just found your channel. you DEFINITELY need to watch Aliens, and the first 2 Terminator movies along with the Thing. :) PS, a few points. Mother is the on board computer. Ash replaced Dallas's regular science officer just days before their departure, meaning that someone in the company had detected the signal and realized it was of alien origin, and gave Ash strict programming to bring it back for study at all costs. and yes, they say that the shuttle only fits 3 right after they lost Dallas. personally, i think thats a stupid ass design. you would think humans learned their lessons about lifeboats after other disasters like Titanic. Lambert was paralyzed with fear and Parker didnt want to kill her with the flame thrower. Mother explained that the option to override the self destruct expired 5 minutes after the self destruct sequence was set. The alien was blocking the only path to the shuttle so Ripley went BACK to try to shut the auto destruct down but she was too late. as to why she didnt shoot the alien with the flamethrower, i'm not sure. This alien wasnt fully formed when it started attacking people. As to why it was in the shuttle with Ripley, i dont know. BUT it was, for lack of a better explanation, biding its time until it had fully matured. im sorry you think the creature looked silly when it was attacking Lambert. it terrified most people.

About the 'Antarctica Flight Control'. The Nostromo was investigating a satellite in a system located around 'Zeta Reticuli'. Reticulum is a constellation in our southern sky (Zeta being a star of that constellation). Because they are south relative to the Earth, trying to contact Antarctica makes sense, because that's the only land they can communicate with because it would be the only one in 'line of sight' from their position.
@rumbledumpthumpershaker6735
The theory is, it was dying by the time it was in the shuttle. That's why it moved slower. There is a cut scene that didn't make the theatrical cut that could explain why it may be dying. We can't say more because part of what was in the cut scene comes back in the second movie.

A young RU-vid viewer is boarding the "Nostromo." What will he make of this "old, long, slow-moving, character-centered, no-DFX/CGI" movie? I saw "Alien" in the same ex-Cinerama theater where I'd seen "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968) and "Star Wars" (1977). Yes, do not watch this movie at night, and alone.;) Since he saw "Aliens" (1986), some things won't register as it does with a completely naive viewer. 9:00 Sharp-eyed viewers saw Ash's "calisthenics" as suspect. 12:30 The Space Jockey, a mystery for decades. 14:41 Second Officer Kane = Zapp Brannigan. 16:09 How's THAT for a Jump Scare? 16:41 This conversation has become iconic due to recent events. 21:35 A Props dept. work of ART, made of sea animals. DFX can't match this level of reality. 23:36 Kane's last meal. 25:00 The Xenomorph, scaring audiences since 1979. 32:46 In 1979, this was my "WTF? Ash ISN'T Human!?" moment. 35:17 Most people didn't see this coming.

If you've seen LOTR or Harry Potter you'll know 2 of the other actors from when they're older. The victim of the face-hugger and alien chest bursting scene played Ollivander, the wand maker in HP. Ash, the android science officer, played Bilbo in the LOTR trilogy. Lambert was frozen in fear. Everyone reacts different to extreme fear.

@@PungiFungi yes, and this movie was "suspense horror" in contrast to "action horror" in the second part, giving the enemy/monster very little screentime (and not any during the first half of the movie), letting viewers guess about it. In this regard it was almost a Hitchcock movie. But that suspense, the looks of the Facehugger and the Alien and their transformation, how many and who survived, etc all were a bit lost for him, after already having seen the sequel Aliens.

You should have seen this movie in theatres in '79. Everyone was scared. I think the only other more scary movie is the "Exorcist '73". This has become my all time favorite series. Check out the sequel "ALIENS" and then the pre-Alien movie. "Promethius" Dont bother with the other ones they are junk. U did a good job feeling out what was going to happen. im suprised. Yes the cat set up Brett. This is why you have DOGS, not CATS!

@asian-americanwithanopinio8954
If you this one is too scary, you might like the prequel better "Prometheus" some people love it because it's not scary but others are disappointed it's not and has no Xenomorphs at all in it. It's more about the lore and beginning, and less horror. More sci-fi.

H R Giger was the artist behind "the Alien" creature. It was inspired by nightmares that he would sketch out upon waking. Matthew 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. AND YOU THINK THIS IS JUST A MOVIE ? Revelation 9:1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. 3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. 5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. REMEMBER THE SCENE WITH DALLAS SAYING "KILL ME"? 6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. 7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. 8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. 9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. 10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. 11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

Personally, I don't care if makes me look like a coward. As soon as I saw that thing on his face. I would have grabbed the cat and booked it to the shuttle and left the idoits who wanted to stay for money and well that lab guy who is actually a robot. But still, I would have been gone. Just because I'd want to survive. I would have left them all who wanted to side with the science guy.

Veronica Cartwright played Penny, the middle child of the Robinson family in the 60s TV series Lost in Space. She's just a couple of years older than me, and I absolutely could not stand her. She only had two modes whining or weepy. I realized she was only reflecting what was in the script early on, and had forgotten all about her until this movie came out. She added sullen and angry to her to list of expressions, but, yep, there she was again.🧓🤢🤪
