Its great advice to practice all your moves like this. Slower water, over and over but in a fun, challenging way. Muscle memory will be your friend when you truly need it on more challenging runs.
Question: Is there an internet site or a place where I can find it where all the names of whitewater kayaking appear, such as for example What an Eddy is or what surfing is or eskimoting that kind of thing
I have been rafting the Green River Gorge for a number of years, mostly when it's at high water and a Class 4 River in a 2 man raft. The Green has tried Kill me a few of times over the years. It's fun to Raft at Class 2 in an truck Inner tube. For the longest ride, we would go to top. Known locally as the Head Works......
Those of us wearing Altama for the intended purpose like them alot. They where not made for walking in the places you tried to apply them. They do evacuate water quickly and help speed up drying while worn.
The difference in traction between the Altamas and the Astrals is negligible, and the Altamas will last at least twice as long with identical usage patterns at a little over half the price. I converted to Altama three years ago for hiking and river guiding. Wool socks keep the feet warm and the sand and pebbles out. My only complaint is that they don't have drains in the heal.
Exactly my weekly exercise on the local WWII spot. Some additional things I do: no edging allowed: keep the boat as flat as possible. Edge on the wrong side. Put a stone the deck and try no to drop it while going through the rapids. Combine this with some of the other challenges like catching every eddy or going backwards!
Knife, extra carabiner, whistle (with compass and thermometer built in), med kit, flint and steel. Cool vid y’all! Keep it up! Need to find space for pin kit eventually but one thing at a time. Keep paracord, flex seal tape, and maybe some extra rope in a dry bag in the yak.
That sucks about the Altama, was just about to pull the trigger on a pair. Astrals have failed at the stitching and separating between the sole and cloth. They did warranty the stitching one without a problem. Aquaseal on the separation works great. The Adidas Hydro-lace is discontinued. The search continues. Thanks for the great video!
I too tried a pair of maritime assaults and was unimpressed. Compared to my sub $30 barefoot trail runners that have been serving as water shoes, the MA were a bit more comfortable wet without socks, but the wet traction was sooooo bad.
I’m 5+ hours away from Cooper, but hoping to finally get on it this year. I’m off work for a week at the end of July. Any prediction on whether it will still be runnable? Thx.
Typically it starts dropping out mid July. But this season we'll see, if it doesn't get too hot there's a good chance it'll keep flowing for a while. I'll keep checking every Thursday 🤙
Sauk levels are hard to guess into the summer. The main gauge is downstream just a couple miles from the mouth of the Sauk which includes major tributaries like the Suiattle and Whitechuck. The other gauge is just upstream of the Whitechuck, and neither Suiattle or Whitechuck have gauges of their own. So for the class 3/4 stretch from Whitechuck down it's touch to guess what the actual flow might look like, it's nice to see over 1000cfs above Whitechuck and several thousand for the lower Sauk gauge. Sorry for the late response!
Appreciate the kind words Harrison! No extra support needed, just spread the love and if you know anyone looking to get on the river you can mention Wildwater 😁 Plan is to get these videos out every Thursday evening. If you or anyone would like different rivers highlighted let us know!
Great video! I'm a reporter for Caters News and we'd love to feature this in a new tv series we're working on. Can you please email me at alycecollins@catersnews.com for details - thanks!
Hi Elizabeth. You can follow the link, located in the description, to our website to find all of our pricing for all of our trips and instruction courses. We are adding a few new rafts of different sizes which will allow us to accommodate 6-9 guests per raft, depending on availability. Spring and early Summer are best for higher flows and late Summer is great for beginners and families.
Thanks; this brings back good memories. Used to camp for a week on the river 1/4 mile upstream from the Enumclaw-Black diamond bridge. Inner-tube trips from the gorge resort to the big bridge were also common. - fun!
White Salmon season is here! We are headed down to this exciting river this weekend and will be offering trips through August on the Wild & Scenic White Salmon. Did we mention there is a waterfall? #wildwaterriverguides #jointheexperience #onestopdestination #husumfalls
My wife and I went down the white salmon River years ago with an outfit called white water wizards. We had a great time. We walked around the water fall and soon ended up at a cabin and a cook out.
Seattle's best kept whitewater secret. The Green River Gorge is a diamond among many gems in Washington. This class IV stretch of river has amazing scenery and great whitewater. Join us this year on this great river. #wildwaterriverguides #jointheexperience #seattle #whitewater
Want to know what guides do after the season? Check out this video from guide/instructor/video genius Andy Lockey. #fullfaceandy #Wildwaterriverguides #Washington #whitewaterrafting
Thanks Ian! We would love to help share and promote SUP on the river. Any way we can help spread the word about SUP so more people can experience it is great. Stoked on the support and seeing other companies getting after it!
Excellent job on the video guys! We are a similar outfit out here in PA. Definitely admiring what you're doing. Would be happy to share this and other videos of you guys. If you want to check us out as well we are at surfsupadventures . com Be sure to check out our latest video done in conjunction with SUP the Mag of some waterfall hucking on our video page. Any mutual sharing and stoke is greatly appreciated.
Liked the water level view as it helped to determine if it is something I could handle at my skill level. Also, liked the music, I get sick of that head bashin your head into cement music with kayak videos.
