I’ve been talking to a man he knows I have two kids. He’s never asked me for money. We pray on the phone. I’m just so nervous. He slid in my dm on facebook. We’re the same age. He’s not pressed to come here he wants me to come there to visit.

@@NigerianWifestyle you’re videos are very helpful. Been talking for a while hasn’t got a dime from me nor has he asked so far so good. And we video call so at least I know he’s a real person. I’m an extremely cautious person and laughed at to many catfish episodes to be fooled. I wish I knew if there was any Africans already in Michigan or I would choose them as an option instead of out the states. Thank you for reaching out to me in the comments

Sister, culture, and experience is a perspective. It is not always right and wrong. Relationships and marriage are about a desire to love and be loved. True love is only possible when each person is submitted to God. If we follow Jesus Christ, then we will begin to value someone else enough to make the needed sacrifices to see them happy and fulfilled. As Africans, we stand with our black brothers and sisters. Their struggle indeed has been pivotal to our freedom and opportunities. However, be mindful that Nigerians began to come to the United States of America way before civil rights. Our own self-determination struggle back home was also a factor in both our freedom and yours. Nigeria's first president, Nnamdi Azikiwe, popularly known as Zik, graduated from Lincon University in 1930. He got his Masters degree in 1933. Some Nigerians got their university educations even earlier in England in the nineteenth century. I am saying this because we all need to be humble. Many Black Americans have similar misconceptions about Africans that can be equally disconcerting. I find that it's only God that can enable us to see ourselves as well as others from the right vantage point. For me, the bottom line is love.

You losing yourself and adopting the culture all depends on the kind of family your married into and tribe. As a Nigerian from Rivers state, the Niger Deltas side, no body, I mean no body will shove our culture down your throat, infact you can even influence us with your lifestyle and culture too. Maybe is because we're a multi- lingua state, we try to co- exist, love and accept each other the way we're with our difference 🤷

I have just walked away from a Nigerian who I have been chatting with for 4+ months. He did all those things you described. He had me feeling sorry for him and convinced that he loved me. My daughter kept warning me that he was a fake. I finally woke up and blocked him and got rid of all my social media accounts. Unfortunately he got me for about $2100. I have no desire now to do online dating. BTW I’m 71 and he claimed he was 40 , but looking back I don’t believe he was anywhere close to that age. I realize now the whole thing was a lie. I guess you live and learn. That was a hard lesson.

I just saw this vidoe and is so interesting. Is quite unfortunate we live in a wicked world where trust is dead and the good ones are the ones paying the price. Funny enough is all because of one thing that we all are going to live and DIE ( MONEY). Thanks for spreading the news. We all reap what we sow, you scam people to do away with thier sweat, life always come to us every 10years. Trust me you'll pay real bad, that nothing can save you.

I met him through his cousin and i noticed him first. Honestly be careful of that as well. They will set you up and will deceive you as well. They will LIE and claim that they've never seen them so happy and in love, they'll pretend to tell you secrets and stories about them to gain your trust. I honestly will just stay by myself because it seems as if all men are trash

All i can say is I'm definitely blessed to have my fiancé. He's Igbo Nigerian but from the stories I've heard, the Nigerian men I've met (in both America and Nigeria) he's not the "typical" Nigerian man... I think he was created just for me 😂 and I for him! It's true about him and his food but thankfully he was a chef at his dad's restaurant in high school so he pretty much is responsible for making whatever dishes he desires, I'm not the wife that's "domesticated" (I run several businesses) although I can cook, clean etc we just have an understanding if you want garri and vegetables you can make it yourself sir or if you want your clothes washed and I'm busy you're welcome to wash them yourself (and he does and mine at times) 💁🏾‍♀️ He also comes from a family of businessmen and women who've created wealth for themselves so I don't experience the begging too often, they actually treat me like a Queen and cater to me when I'm in town (which again is not the normal). Even your views on being an African American woman are so unique to me, I didn't come from the "traditional" black American family so alot of what my grandparents taught me he has similar views about so it didn't seem that different but my grandparents were born in the 1920's so black culture was very different then which leads me to believe most of our slave ancestors definitely came from Nigeria, Ghana, etc 🤔 being an 80's baby but raised by 20's babies definitely turned out to be a different mindset and culture. Ultimately, me and my guy get along because we're both "old souls" but I definitely enjoyed your views, thank you for sharing 🙏🏾 much love🇳🇬🇺🇸#blendednations
