I stayed with family and came back with half my $1200 after a month. Tips: No white shoes or socks (they'll be full of red clay-like dust), If you get sick go to the "American" hospital/clinic. It's where the U.S. consulate sends ppl for medical testing. Pack PEPTO BISMOL 💯. Pack toilet paper and baby wipes to keep in your purse. Nigeria is not that heel 👠friendly, wedges OK. Lots of walking on uneven road. Tuck your passport away- that's the last thing you want to lose or get stolen. Crossbody bags are better when out and about.
Oh! 2 more tips. For security purposes, email yourself a photo of your passport - visa and passport data page. It can always be printed out in case of emergency. Also, if it's the first time meeting your intended, get them to email a copy of their info. Everybody a suspect 🤷🏽♀️IJS Wire yourself extra money via Weastern Union b4 traveling. If you need it it's there. If not, you can get a full refund once you return. Ok, that's it for now.
Thanks for the info .Where did you go to get the list the counsulant staffers go in case they need healthcare? Should one keep their passport on their person at all times in their crossbody?
@@barbarabrown3152 You can find medical information here : ng.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/local-resources-of-u-s-citizens/doctors/ As far as passport safety, it's a toss up. The house I stayed was secured and the room locked so I kept my passport there hidden in my luggage. However, if lots of visitors frequent your place, I'd keep it on my person. Just don't take off your bag or let your passport be visible.
I agree with you on all of your recommendations. However, the consulate I found to be utterly disorganized. Nobody writes or even bother to call you back. I agree get the yellow fever shot. I'm here right now and I would say entering the airport be prepared to be hustled as an American. I love Bukka Hut for food on Victoria Island. And if you're planning on getting married as I did yesterday be prepared to spend a lot of money. But overall, I recommend visiting. It's not as bad as people make it seems. Hell their Shoprite is even more fancy than the ones in the US. However, you have to be mindful that this is a country of poverty. But there is beauty. Loving my experience and I must say being here with my husband I love how he is such a take charge person.
Congratulations on getting married! I wish you and hubby the absolute best in life. The Consulate offices are a nightmare. I also second your comments about the airport, food, and shop rite. Nigeria is a beautiful place but not exempt from frustration. Enjoy your trip!!
Thank you for putting out valid information. I just returned home from Lagos after being there for 2 months. The information you are giving is wonderful. I work in the healthcare field. So of course, I can be a lil anal about all the health precautions. My fiancee had a friend who's wife traveled without malaria meds.As you know the mosquitoes are horrible and they carry malaria. I was so scared for her. Thank God I took enough meds to share. Nigeria is awesome. So full of culture and beautiful history. People who are interested in traveling need to be informed. I have been several times and we travel to several cities. I am blessed my fiancee family and friends always welcome me and I am safe. It is definitely important to understand that as an American you are a target for some. Thanks so much for what you do. Please continue to share your experience with us.
Thank u so much for this information!! I will be going to Nigeria this year and I can’t wait!! I look forward to hearing and seeing more of your videos.
Thank you for the tips Tracy. I'd love to hear more. I'm planning a trip to Lagos is September to visit my boyfriend of 1 1/2years. I'm so excited! My friends and family are all worried about me but I feel totally safe with him.
@@ANN-ri8zp I traveled to Lagos in November 2019 to visit my boyfriend. Can be scary at first, but take precautions and use your discernment. An airport attendant hustled me out of $20, saying that because I didn't have my yellow fever card I would need to pay her but you don't need it. Like the comments said before, there is lots of beauty.
How hard is it going be for me as an American WHITE woman in Nigeria?… I really love your posts… you are a lovely smart woman… I wish I could take you with me…☺️
I'm older and am being pursued heavily by a much younger Nigerian man. He is VERY persistent. 30 days in, I am starting to like him. I've been so fed up American men for so long that it's difficult to trust that he isn't too good to be true. He's building a business here and as usual sends money home as well as taking care of his mom and his sister, who are here. He says he is divorced ed and says all the "things"- gives me money, takes me out and checks in daily. I'm just having trust issues because it's no way for me to find out if he is lying about being divorced.
Love your channel! You inspired me to make my own similar channel. I could use the initial support in subscribers. Thanks again for the motivation!!!!!!
I will be going to Nigeria next month, I believe that I am prepared, the only thing that gives me concern is when you said the officials are expecting money. How much is enough, are you obligated to give them money? What is the best way to be ahead of that behavior? Please any help is appreciated
Thank you so much! For all you share. I have plans to travel to Abdjia Ivory Coast. This year. This is what I was wanting to email you about. I couldn't locate your email. Just needing know my steps. And who to contact.
How did you meet your Nigerian husband? How can one travel to Nigeria 🇳🇬 and actually be safe. Terrified to travel with wrong group of people to such a Place. Safety is best
OSAHON OSASU You are just foolish. Have you not read about the activities of Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen and Buhari’s govt.’s pro-Islamist agenda including the establishment of RUGA with public funds. Go ask your folks in Edo State what is happening to them, did you not read that the Oba of Benin recently raised the alarm about fulani herdsmen having taken over the forests and carrying out their criminal activities of kidnapping, rape and murder. Go do your research on Nigeria. Trump is not racist, he is abrasive in his manners not racist. The fake impeachment by the Democrats is already failing, they filed charges without having the evidence in place, that is the dumbest thing a prosecutor could do.
I got around the bribes by doing one simple thing - keeping quiet. I let my husband speak for me quite a bit. Without hearing an accent most Americans look like Africans from other countries. With that keeping quiet made me less of a target.
@@NigerianWifestyle I’m kind of surprised you married to Nigerian and you still have 99% of bad things to say about Nigeria/Nigerians I don’t know why ur still hanging on to that marriage?
@@danny835 I say a lot of positive things about Nigeria and Nigerians. Go watch my other videos. I’m still married because I said YES to a great man. To God be the glory.
Danny.... SMH!!! If you don't like the content then consider not watching it... Simple. But abeg, speak for yourself, don't be rude. She gives informative good information.
