buddy that is not how you revive a fish. it shouldn't be gratuitous. in highly oxygenated, cold water like that you don't need a long revival unless the fish is not moving. once she is kicking she is ready and you're doing nothing but manhandling her by letting her get waterboarded over the sand like that. fish have a coating of slime which protect them from harmful bacteria and parasites and you take it off when you rub them over sand. if you need to revive the fish get into deeper water, use a gripping tool and let the waves do the work. again, in waves like that and in the spring the fish is in a highly oxygenated environment and you don't need to revive them gratuitously. less is more when it comes to handling the fish. tagging is a good thing, but killing the fish you tag sounds pretty silly, doesn't it? there's also a chance you can wash that fish into a crack in the jetty and never get her out. you need a gripping tool, i don't even like my boga when i'm deeper than my waist because they don't grip as well when the fish is sideways on surface as a plastic clap style grip. i appreciate that you're trying to do what's right, but you're doing it for the optics instead of actually releasing the fish properly. fish should be unhooked instantly, time out of the water should be nothing if you can manage it, and off they go and you get another one.
@@user-nt8qp8lx7e i catch more fish from shore in my river than any man alive [going for two different rivers this year from shore and kayak and i will succeed,] and you should probably listen to what i've got to say because none of it is wrong. just shut up and listen. that's what most of you are cut out to do. it's a function of you being a poor fisherman that you don't think i've got more experience releasing fish than a 20 something year old kid. ahve a good day.
Try casting using your thumb to hold the line down instead of your pointer finger. If you need a little more holding power, wrap the line around the pole one turn and back over itself. Old surf rat showed me that when I was a kid, been doing it ever since, never cut my finger again.
Bite your tongue,… lol 🤣 they’re never too fat to catch … ha ha …. Though I have seen Stripers that look like they’ve never eaten ,,,. All head and a body all sucked in …. that makes no sense
Hey man , find myself fishing the same waters as you ALL the time , would love to run into you one day on the water. Love to see your progress with catching fish. Would love to tell you about some of my catches at the same spots. You have any place to reach out to you mate ?! Cheers !
From Hawaii🤙, I’m always whipping for GTs, but those bluefish and stripped bass really put up a solid fight ….. l love the action in the vids, one day I’ll be out there
@@w.r8180 That was my OG stomping ground pre-pandemic. Fished it for 10 years..during the week before work, used to be me and maybe 2-3 other guys... now..fughedaboutit
@@ZachLeCatesBJJ Amen...still its funny when the bite gets finicky and the diamond-jig Ugly Stick crew can't catch sea-weed while me and the real sharpies are hooking up lovely on bucktails. Still it gets old real quick tangling lines every 10 mins
love the first spot!!! I have been getting monster blues there around dusk on topwater and toothpaste (yes TOOTHPASTE) colored sp minnow. And yes, it totally gets PACKED with people. Sometimes over a hundred guys on the jetty its insane. but that's all the more fun, when everyone is hooked up and crossed with each other hahaha
I'd rather do "standard" rods like this day in day out than using surf rods all day. Lol haha and it's what I love doing anyway. But yes there are days where length of a surf rod does out perform your 7ft-7'6" rod.
All I see is my wife kicking my ass for making her drive to the emergency room after i jump in and a jogger finds me on the beach in the fetal position hugging a VanS with black fingertips 🤣
Awesome vid as always. Question for you...with sp minnows do you replace the trebles with a single hook? If so could you put amazon link to those hooks in reply comments. The treble hooks kill me.
There’s two in this video, the white ones are just HUK deck boots, and the ones on the rocks are FroggToggs Pilot 2 Wading boots (which you can get on the FroggToggs website for 15% off (along with anything else on the website) if you use discount code PAULIE15 at checkout
Which of these three would be the best for bottom fishing using cut bait and sinker and that sort? The Medium heavy 10' 6 or should I go with the 11'0 heavy? I want to be able to fish on ocean piers as well.
