They look great! I also went with Apex and finally found the specs to replace the center caps with blank black and then found a metal overlay with the Aston Logo. Makes it look OEM.
Looks really good. Can you tell us the width of the original Wheels and the width of the new Wheels? F&R Also what tire size did you start with and what size did you upgrade to?
Hi Jeff so I mustered the courage to do this but the tabs you are speaking of, two of them are soldering onto the circuit board. How did you loosen the tabs without desoldering the board?
Ya'll are treasures to the AM community. I dont have this issue but i see it on tons of AM from this era. Nice to be able to tell folks there is a pretty straightforward and cheap fix!
Amazing project, great posts! Was wandering, what is the reason you went with the McLeod LS clutch and "special machined" flywheel over your (or AMR) twin plate clutch kit? It was my understanding the AMR twin set up, or your VAP version of it, are well capable for the power upgrade. Could you share details of the McLeod set up? Thanks!
So, this is not a VAP-origin kit/build. We were offered this car in a semi-disassembled state, but the kit & parts were already designed. This car is making significantly more power & torque than an OEM V12V, for which the twin plate kit was originally designed and the clutch that is fitted to it should be able to hold a lot more torque. So we chose to stick with what had already been proven & designed for this specific application.
Hi there , jag owner from UK the pipe on the symposer has failed on my car and I have a vac leak so cel is on. Is it just fitting the blank plate then job done? I don't want to have to get in there and remove the whole thing .
Hi Craig. Yes, this will just blank off the port. We'd still probably recommend pulling the symposer unit out, because it will likely rattle a little bit otherwise. Or, you could fit the VAP kit with the threaded bung installed, and then bolt the symposer back on with our part sandwiched between the symposer and blower. That would eliminate the leak but there won't be any air passing into or out of the symposer. Believe the symposers are on back order right now anyway!
I know this would cost more, but I would go with a new paint color to match the boldness of the Supercharged Vantage instead of matching fading paint. But I love spending other peoples money ;)
Thank you for the video. it was very informative. What kind of hp can I expect from just your upper pulley on an 11 XJL Supersport? It's already tuned and has a lower pulley.
The upper pulley will add right around 1.5 psi of boost. Whoever tuned the vehicle will need to adjust the tuning to allow for the additional boost, so the amount of power added will vary based on who is tuning it and how they set it up.
I distinctly remember that car having a super high take-up when I drove it back in 2011 or 12. Enough so I was worried it was how all of them drove and was relieved when I test drove mine that it wasn’t normal. 99% sure it’s the setup and original that caused the high take-up since it was there new. My best try to recall is that they used a Mustang clutch to try and hold the power. If I can be of help, let me know and I’ll share as much of the history as I can remember of when it got that kit.
Thanks very much for reaching out. We've changed the clutch for a new one, and adjusted the spacing on the bearing to alter the pickup point a little lower in the pedal!
I already have you Stage 3 on my 2020 SVR. Can't wait until you get the Harrop 2.3L ready to go with full E85! Love to see this lil thing make enough to beat my twin turbo'd Yukon.
These are balanced, but not matched like the OEM. OEM are bolted together and balanced as a unit. Our clutch & flywheel are both neutral balanced, to a lower tolerance than the OEM parts. In the case of the clutch, the balancing is not achieved by machining the cover however.
Following this project closely…would love to see a complete Velocity AP supercharger solution that my local specialist shop can install on my ‘08 Vantage Roadster. Unfortunately, like 90% of all Roadsters sold, mine has the SportShift automated manual, but still hoping 👍
Hi Russell. We do not have a UK stockist for this kit, but we do ship worldwide so you can order it directly from us. Did reach out to RE Performance about these parts but didn't get any response :)
@@JustinPandeloWe sourced a high heat window film that had good reviews. Look for one with a more bluish metallic finish to better match the aluminum dash gauges.
Add some fuel to cold start idle. Sounds like it only runs when it has prime or "accelerator pump" (to use an old carb name) fuel. Looking forward to episode 7, or 6, or maybe 8.
That looks fun I've seen that or similar symptoms before when the MAF sensors are not situated/working correctly. Good luck, I bet that'll be a fun car
This is great, thank you! Video like this is long overdue for our community, really appreciate it. Small world, if that car was in Wilmington, NC for some of the life/work I think it’s the exact car that made me want one all these years. Great content, keep it up!
@@VelocityAP very interesting... fully debunks the writeups I've seen on other sites. I bought mine in Orlando with both screens exhibiting the issue. Looking forward to getting this fixed!
