I fortunately got the original first print of the Barrel double DVD Set with the Complete Pristine Uncut version of TLHODES and also (Disc 2) the extensive high quality behind the scenes, making of, and interviews Roger Watkins was and is still a huge influence and inspiration to me as a filmmaker.
Roger Watkins was my uncle i never realized how awesome he was untill years after the drugs got him. Great story love seeing uncle roger every chance i get to look him up now a days
The plot does sound hilarious when recounted aloud. The Vinegar Syndrome limited(?) Boxset is awesome. Just found this channel. Thanks for the content.
Fun fact: in DERANGEDthe role of Ezra Cobb(Ed Gein) was played by Roberts Blossom (George LeBay in CHRISTINE, Old Man Marley in HOME ALONE, Doc Wallace in QUICK AND THE DEAD etc.) a great and talented actor R.I.P.
Mardi Gras Massacre. The release I got is from 88 Films (The same release you got). Rating-3/10. Opinions-Not the worst video nasty I've seen cause of the acting, the plot & the music but Blood Feast is a bit better than this in my opinion.........and Mardi Gras Massacre is FAR from the worst one........and a bonus point for the film being filmed from New Orleans.
Barrel Entertainment was how I saw this movie in the earlier days of DVD. Still have my copy. I still remember Vinegar Syndrome saying they were going to do a stand alone release of this and couldn't wait for it. Cool video too.
Yeah. Many of them however have been lost through time. Grindhouse films were practically the cheapest kind of film you could make in the 70s-80s. Thousands of them were produced every year so it’s not surprising there might have been many hidden gems amongst them. Without the internet these films probably never seen saw the light of day in theaters and probably are just lost tapes at this point.
Very nice review and i think i WILL enjoy the peculiar talents of Andy Milligan and co. Started on The Ghastly Ones last night, and i'm quite into over the top enthusiastic acting (it's not very dissimilar to early Monty Python Skits) and i do enjoy the ctrhe creativity of creative shortcuts. Tight claustophobic close ups and reams of dialogue, wacky art direction and staging. Loved it when the oldest sister had to get the champagne and wanted to run straight into Andy Milligan's camera and the "brother" pointed her the other way. It's the little things that do it....
That Mark of the Devil was pretty graphic for its time I believe, wasn't it? That's the one that has people getting tortured and getting their tongues tore out and $h!t.
Remember we had poltergeist recorded on vhs that scared the goodness out of me. Got recorded over so just before a show i liked was the scene where the mom was sharing a flask with the investigator, talking about shaking hands. Still freaks me out. Im jaded now but recently the last shift, all hallows eve (the end of the wraparound story) and antrum: the deadliest movie ever made have genuinely scared me. The latter has been living rent free in my brain sinch watching. Great list Ben

Maybe the poster child of "Why the hell was this on the Nasties list?!" Probably because of the murder scene, which isn't that graphic. VERY MUCH a Canadian film. It's okay. Quite slow to get going.
I Miss You, Hugs & kisses. The release I got is from Severin Films (The same release you got). Rating-6/10. Opinions-It's the oddball of the nasties in my views, not a bad film but a bit slow in parts and Howard Shore who did the music for this film became of the best in Hollywood with the amazing soundtrack for Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
Wow! Good documentary. I've only seen Bloody New Year. It was shown to me years ago by Paul Barrett's son (Paul was the table monster). It's a weird trip, because it was filmed around places I grew up and was the first time I'd seen something like that, which had been filmed in the local area. Seeing Warren's earlier work on here though, will have to track them down. Whilst a fun watch, Bloody New Year does not do him justice. Was that Terry Marcel from Hawk the Slayer fame that produced Prey?😂
