It amazes me what people will do to animals…tail doxing, ear glued or tape…maybe people should start to think how they would like their ears glued ..or some fingers or toes clipped off. Same goes with the soring of Tennessee walking horses hoofs
It amazes me what some people comment on, without knowing facts. This doesn't hurt the dog in any way. You hear "glue" and apparently think of superglue or something, some permanent disfigurement. It isn't that at all. It is gluing fur to fur for a short period of time, that trains the leather of the ear to tip. It isn't like plastic surgery or something.
I am picking up my first Sheltie puppy (owned two adult Shelties previously) in 6 weeks - so this gives me an idea what to expect. Gorgeous! I am partial to sables.
I found our first sheltie after 4th of july fireworks escape. Found the owners but was willing to let us adopt him. We are hooked on the breed. We are now parents to shelties 4 and 5. The grey one in this video looks like our Pepper. Our lives are never boring with them and they love our kitties
Ollie would have been my choice too! Playful but not as hyper, cute, and adorably small and floofy. The Merle would have been my second choice, stunning. They were all so lovely.
My sister-in-law has a lionhead named shilo. She’s mostly white with a white patch on her face. She’s very cute and though I’m not as experienced with bunnies as I am with cats and dogs, she’s assured me shilo likes me
I would pick the one that came to me. When we went to pick up our sheltie pup (10 years ago now) the breeder had a few litters, so there were like 10 sheltie pups in her van. We were first in line. When the breeder opened the side door one came to us and the rest hid behind her. I recognized him from the photos that we received and, after confirming, picked up Flynn and took him home. He is barking behind me as we speak.
I tried to do this with my puppies ears while he slept. Then when he woke up he was constantly scratching them and scratched off the bond... how on earth do you get these puppies to be cool with this? I feel so bad because he clearly didnt like it. He did not get used to it.
We lost our Sheltie, Elsie on the last day of May. She was 17 years and 2 months. We adopted her on Chistmas Eve 2012 from a local shelter when she was 6 years, 9 months, & 12 days old. She was rescued from a puppy mill along with two other Shelties. So, we had her 10 years and 5 months. We still have our other dog. He's not a Sheltie though. He just turned 10 on October 6th this year. The wife was thinking she'd want a Sheltie puppy next time if we get one. I got my first Sheltie in 2000 when he turned 15. I had him for only a 1 year and a half.
I came from your video on tipping Ollie’s ears. It looks like they both have pricked ears now, unless I’m mistaken. Do you think it is not worth it, putting in the time and effort into tipping the ears? My 5 month old sheltie came from the breeder with tipped (glued) ears, and as it came off, I just never re-did it because they were sitting naturally tipped. However; after a month of not having the procedure on, one ear started to come up lol so I’m trying to decide on what to do. Also; you mentioned Ollie and Jasper are only 3 months apart. How was your experience getting a second puppy while still have a young one in your hands? Most people suggest waiting until one is full grown and can help discipline the young newer pup, but I’ll tell you… I’d really love a second one and have them play together. Would love to hear your experience! Thanks and congrats on the gorgeous pups!!
