There was something like this in Seattle, but sadly they replaced them with a doghouse. I wasn’t happy to see this new signal because first of all I wanted to always see that other one mentioned in the video and second of all, it does not even look like what I wanted it to.
Hey SignalTracker. Curious, I was just doing some Street Viewing around Deer Park Avenue. It's of June 2024, and I see they replaced some lights at the intersection of Kenmore Road, and I saw the new lights are incandescent?? Do ya know anything about that?
@Sharkie626 A dump truck crashed into one of the existing strain poles at that intersection. It also damaged the existing traffic signals, span wire & cables. A temporary traffic signal was installed shortly after. I heard that NYSDOT plans to fully rebuild the intersection. I'm not sure when it'll happen.
@@signaltracker2322 Oh gosh, that explains a lot. But kind of cool they put incandescent ones up for the time being, haven't seen a state set as such in years. I figured it was something temporary as I noticed the lack of a tether cable. Well, whatever eventually goes up, I can only hope it's a span set.
@@signaltracker2322 I just looked it up in the MUTCD sections 4A.03 and 4A.04. The red ball and flashing yellow arrow has the same meaning except the flashing yellow allows pedestrians to cross but must yield to vehicles in the intersection. Pedestrians are not allowed to cross on a red ball unless directed by a pedestrian signal indication.
@MN-Hillbilly The flashing yellow arrow is for vehicles approaching and moving through the intersection. When pedestrians have the walk sign in a signalized crosswalk, vehicles moving through the intersection must yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk.
@@signaltracker2322 I guess my point is according to the MUTCD the rules for vehicles are the same for vehicles but treats the pedestrians different. Of course this only applies when there isn't pedestrian signals.
No. A red ball means stop. And IF conditions are clear, a right turn is permitted after the stop if a driver wishes to. Flashing yellow arrow (or flashing yellow in general) means proceed without stop but with caution.
Back In the Days When I Was A Little Kid All Of The Old Traffic Lights On Nassau County Roadways Were Taken Down And Replaced By New Ones Somewhere Around 2005 To 2012 In Glen Cove And In 2006-2021 Roslyn Everywhere Else 2004 - Present They Were Used In The 1950s 1960s 1970s 1980s And 1990s Nassau County Is Way Ahead Of The Game When It Comes To New Traffic Lights Most Of The Signals Mostly Use Mast Arms instead Of Span Wires. Why Do Some Traffic Lights Use Mast Arms And Others Span Wires Almost Other Countries Use Mast Arms.
I'm not sure. Municipalities across Long Island have their own signal installation standards. Some of it is based on the guidelines from the Federal Manual of Traffic Control Devices (M.U.T.C.D.)
Just Recently They Also Installed A New Traffic Light At Searingtown Road Port Washington BVLD NY 101 And Northern BVLD NY25A 6 Months After The Traffic Light On Port Washington BVLD And Park Avenue 2 New Traffic Lights On Port Washing BVLD In Certain Period Of Time
2:36 I Wrote A Letter The NYSDOT A Long Time Ago About A Protected Left Turn Arrow And Replacement Of The Signals And They Took My Consideration A Long Time They Took My Claim Seriously
@@signaltracker2322 here in Michigan we have the 4 section but not the 3 section. You must be in a different state. I found you thru another traffic signal channel called De traffic beats. Like yours too.
I just realized in some states like Colorado, they have 3 section flashing yellow arrow traffic signals with the flashing yellow arrow in the second section of the signal…
FHWA allowed this in a temporary basis but is now official with the 11th MUTCD. This is because some signal systems cannot program overlaps correctly for a separate flashing yellow arrow. Therefore, using the existing yellow arrow.
My own CCTO ped signal idea: (For Triune ver it will use a green still walk man, a flashing stop hand like the Dialight/Leotek ones shown and 188 ⅖ digit timer) Well for the 88 2 digit ver it will use a green color animated walking man (well the thing is: the timer immediately changes colors from green to red and the other timer will be the small 7 segment display down there, it will go like that countdown over there shown) and yes, it will also have seconds as well, except for the green (I said red but green is exempted) Ex.: a 3 second yellow light When that yellow light is on, the ped signal hand will flash during the 3 second duration until it stops at 0 and the stop hand on that ped signal will be steady
Thanks. I happened to be in that area a couple of weeks ago and noticed that the 3-colored signal attached to the 4-section right turn FYA signal was removed. Now it's just a single 4-section right turn FYA head on the end of the mast arm pole.
