Hi Mike, you mentioned in this video "the camel walk" could you provide more details of where it can be found? Or maybe a video of the walk might be good. Have a great trip, and I look forward to your reply.
Hi Mike, thank you so much for this very interesting and informative video. It was great to see an insight into local football on the island. I am aware that there are many local teams on the island. Is there any chance of an overview of those? Keep up the good work.
I’m not qualified, I’m afraid Bill. I know almost nothing about football, and don’t really follow it on the island. This was very much a one off, encouraged by a friend who is a director of the club.
3 visits to Lanzarote since Brexit/COVID. Never had passport stamped or manually checked. Always used the E Gates. Really surprised and disappointed by the current problems/chaos.
Hi Mike, thankyou for all your excellent informative videos, long may they continue. My partner and I are long time visitors to lanzarote,we are curious as to what is the actual reason why in the last week or so that uk passports have to be stamped now, this causing the potential long queues on arrival in lanzarote
Very informative Mike, can I ask about vaping on the beaches? I love to snorkel and have given up the fags a long time ago, Playa chica is one of the top spots in the world for snorkelling. Will I have to trot off to the car park for a quick drag on my electric ciggy? I am willing to of course, no butts!
We arrived Saturday 6th July. Went in to 2 queues. Our queue Went through the egates and had out passport stamped the other queue Went through egates and didn't get passport stamped. 1st time we've had passport stamped in the last 2 years
Another quality video, cheers Mike. Have to say I’m a little surprised re. the airport delays. Visited twice last year, and on both occasions (iirc) the automatic passport gates were in operation. Also never had my passport stamped. Keep up the stirling work, and enjoy your holiday.
Mike, since Brexit, we've visited from UK 6 times and we've never been stamped out of Lanzarote, and not always in either (last trip earlier this month). It hasn't caused us a problem re-entering the EU elsewhere. We have only visited mainland and Mallorca so whether this makes any difference I don't know.
Great vid. as usual. Enjoy your cruise! Question on the agriculture front. We noticed lots of "fields" of some kind of cactus (maybe prickly pear? ) Most now seem abandoned? Was it a crop that's gone out of favour or possibly due to water shortages? The dying plants look very sad! Any ideas?
Hi Mike, another greatly informative video👏🏼 With regard to the Papagayo beach access road, who gets the 3 Euros per car? With the amount of traffic all day every day down to the beaches surely there's enough funding for it to be turned into a proper surface?
Thanks for the videos, very informative on this wonderful island. I was stuck in a 2hr 30 passport queue coming from Manchester, no air conditioning, water fountains or any information explaining to people what the delay was. People were getting really agitated and children were screaming and crying. I hope they sort it out soon. I voted to stay in Europe and hopefully live in the canaries one day, so it's very annoying for me . I'm impressed with the island always spending money and improving. Surely without tourists, this wouldn't be happening. I noticed a new park being built in Playa Honda, with great views of the aircraft taking off. In my opinion, Lanzarote is the best place in Europe. ❤
Hope you enjoy your cruise miķ now question I'm over to lanzarote in october you were saying about pre booking does that include all places of attraction..on lanzarote . Thanks for updating what's going on in lanzarote .cheers .
I am not a smoker , but my husband is ,and is quite respectful to others. And yes i think we both agree that it is a reasonable idea to stop widespread smoking and butt end dropping. But i do think the local authorities should maybe put aside designated smoking areas .
Hi Mike, thanks for your video. We were caught up in long queues at Arrecife airport last Monday around midday, for 1 1/2 hours. I understand it might have been because of the UK no longer being in the EU. However, there were passport e gates hardly being used. Apparently to use them you had to be over 18 ( our 17 year old was erroneously singled out by an official to use them). Most of those arriving were families with young children. We couldn't understand why the gates were not being used ( there was an official sitting at a desk near the gates). On a happier note, can you recommend a beach for snorkeling please. Thank you. Enjoy your cruise.
Last couple of times we left, passport control was at the departure gate, so basically one queue for boarding. They checked our passports immediately before showing our boarding passes.
Hi Mike. Enjoyed the video as always. It's great to be kept up to date with what's happening on the island. Enjoy your cruise, have a well deserved rest. x
Hi Mike I noted that your friend from Ireland recently imported his Lotus which looks great. I'm currently considering importing a year 2000 AUDI TT and am finding great difficulty in getting a ball park figure from anyone. I have a friend who imported a pre 2000 Mercedes prior to Brexit at 1400Euros and would hope that the cost might be between 1500 and 3000Euros. I've also been informed by the mechanic I use here that the cost might be 8000 to 10000Euros. Do you know of anyone who has recently imported a car and could give me an indication of ballpark figure as anything over 3000Euros is not practical. Thanks for your help, don't rush your reply and enjoy your cruise both of you. Terry Cleasby
Hi Mike. My partner & I are coming out again to Lanzarote in October to look at property & wondered if it was possible to meet up at some point as we have too many questions to ask on your platform. Please advise. Many thanks. Gary.
Thanks Mike for streaming this video,, i was fascinated by the enthusiasm shown by both sets of supporters at the match. Also nice to see you in your team shirt, i was also impressed with the amount of families at the match which is something you dont see to much in the uk. I am lookig forward to our next trip to the wonderful island of lanzarote. Regards Chris UK.
Generally the season starts at the beginning of September, but we don’t know the dates and fixtures yet. Keep an eye on here: mercancialanzarote.com/fixtures/
That big square block hotel areciffe. I think it's called the grand. Is the restaurant open to the public and can I go for an afternoon tea etc. Also do I have to book..cheers. also as we are coming in September is it possible to meet you in person and can I bring you something traditional British you are missing..as a gift. My friend who lives in France loves her Yorkshire tea ..cheers alan
Hi Alan. The hotel is the Arrecife Gran, and yes, you can have drinks or cocktails in the rooftop bar, and use the restaurants, even if you aren’t staying there. Thank you for the kind offer, but there isn’t anything we miss. 😄
Mike, thank you for the fantastic updates with NO click bait - great to have a trusted source of information from people who genuinely care about #Lanzarote and give so much interesting current and historical information. I love the weekly news on RU-vid and also the newsletter
I am from Lanzarote. Please note you don’t have to explain why you are not leaving a tip. Tipping is not part of our culture and it is not expected so it is fine not to tip at all. It is of course appreciated, who doesn’t like extra cash. Up to the customer. It is fine to leave and say thank you, the food was lovely and have a good day. Being polite and respectful is greatly appreciated. Not wearing clothing in a restaurant is just inappropriate anywhere in the world regardless of the heat.
Thanks for the news,Mike. I understand that most of the sewage on Lazarote is pumped to the centre (near the municipal waste site) for treatment. Is the treated sewage (final effluent) used to irrigate the crops? It's relatively clean water which is valuable on such an arid island..... and can be used for agriculture! Thanks, John Miles.
Thanks, Mike. The black polythene pipes on the surface of the pubic gardens (ie Costa Teguise) which water the plants... is that 'black water' then? John Miles
Hi Mike thank you for the update I hope they fix the water problem espically for the rural people and those poor farmers ..I hope it be fixed by the time I and my husband and autistic grandaughter go over in October we love lanzarote, wev been going 20 years now.love it cheers Mike
Thanks for this. Yes, the British media are enjoying misreporting the situation. Nothing new there. I personally will NOT rent a villa, house or apartment as understand the damage it does to families and local communities. I will use a hotel, and will contribute to the economy in any way I can. I will also be respectful when visiting, another thing that tourists often won't bring.
Love your videos! Your weekly news videos are phenomenal and your information videos are very very good. Can we have a Q+A video? And a background video of your story about your time in Lanzarote
I quite like the idea of a Q and A video, Darren. Not sure on the one about our time in Lanzarote - it would be very, very long, and the channel is all about the island, rather than about us. 😄
